The Board was called to order at 7.30 P.M. by G.W.Holston, president of the Board. R01L CALL. Roll call found the following Trustees present, to-wit;- F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eechelbach, H.Scampini, and G.W.Holston. ~.bsent, Trustee L.G.Hsrdy Jr. Trustee Hardy appeared after roll call. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Cunningham secon~ by Tnustee Eschelbsch and regularly carried were approved. ~n application for a soft drink license was received fro~ 2.Bruno for a location in the Linden ho.tel buildi~E, corner of the alley. On motion of Trustee ~ ~ardY. ~ ~econded by Cunningham the license wa~ granted by the following vote:- Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, L.G.Hardy Jr., H.Sc~mpini, G.W.Holston. Noes, None. Absent, None The application of Colombo and Mainini for a soft drink license for 224 Grand Avenue was ~so received. On motion of Trustee Cunningham seconded by Trustee Hardy the license was granted bI the following vote:- Ayes, Trustees F.A.Cunninghsm, ~.J~Eschelb~ch,E.J.Hardy Jr., H.Scampini.And G.W.Holston. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, Trustees, None. Trustee Hardy of t~e public utilities committee advised the Board that a light should be placed on ~iller Avenue between Linden and Cypress Avenues, as per petition of residents of that block,filed st the previous meeting of the Board. The City Clerk was instructed to write to the ga~ ~nd electric co and order the light installed. The ~ity Clerk was instructed to send a bill to the Pacific Coast Steel for printing done in connection with the proposed improvement of Industria~ Way, which work w~s postponed at the req~ of the stee~ co. Traffic l~anager Thompson of the steel company had ag~'~ed to ~ay this bill. Trustee ~¢~mpini introduced the following resolution. N0.42. RESOLUTION ORDERING THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN EXTENSION OF THE SEWER iN CALIFORNIA AVEi~E ACROSS THE RIGHT OF WAY OF T~E SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAI~ROAD COMPANY. Resolved~by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that publicinterest a~ convenience require the work herein described, and the Board of Trustees of the City of South 8an Francisco hereby orders the following work to be done in said city, to-wit; The construction o~ a Twenty-four (24) inch by thirty-six (36) inch combined sanitary and storm-water sewer across the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad Oompany at California AvenNe to connect the end of the existing sewer at the easterly end of California Avenue with the sewer in Industrial Way. All work herein provided for shall be done to official grade and in accodance with the ape( plans and specifications for said work,which plans an~ specifications are entitled "Plans and ~ specifications for the construction of an extension of the sewer in California Avenue across the r~ of way of the ~outhern Pacific Railroad Company", which plans and s-~ecifications are hereby adopte~ for doing said work and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk,to which plans and specifications reference is hereby made for a description o£ said work. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish for two (2) weeks in "The Enterzrise", a newsoaper of general circulation printed and published in said City of South San Francisco,the following not,ce inviting sealed proposals or bids for said improvement work in the Oity of South San Francisco; NOTICE iNVITING SEAI~ED PEOPOSALS FOR SEWER CONSTR~CTION WORK IN THE CITY OF S0OT~ SAN F[ANCi~C0. Sealed proposals will be receivedby the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francis¢ until 8 o'clock p.m.on Monday, the 26th day of Se~tember, 1921,for doing the following work in the City of South San Francisco,County of San Mateo, State of California; The construction of a Twenty-four (24) inch by Thirty-six (36) inch combined sanitary and storm-water sewer across the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company at California Avenue to connect the end of the existing ~ewer st the easterly end of California Avenue with the sewer in Industrial Way, All material and all work must be in strict compliance with the requirements of the plans and specifications adopted by the Board of Trustees on the 8th day of September, 19£1,and now on f~ in the office of the City Clerk. The successful bidder shall, within Ten (10) days after the awar8 enter into a contract with the City of South San Francisco for the faithful performance of the wor~ to be done under said award. All proposals must be a. ccomranied with a certified check upon a solvent bank of the State c Cs]ifornia,pa~able to the City of South San Francisco,in an amount not less than ten (10) per cent the aggregate of the bid, u~on the condition that if the proposals be accepted and the contract aw and if the bidder shall fail and neglect to execute the comtract ahd give the bonds required,the s mentioned in said check shall be liquidated damages for such failure and neglect, and shall be forf to and paid into the Treasury ofthe City of South San Francisco. The bidder to whom is awarded a contract will be required to execute a bond for the fs~ith£ performance of his work in an amount equal to Twenty-five per ~nt (25) of the amount of his undert with at least Two (2) responsible sureties in the full amount of the bid each; and will also be req before entering upon the ~ork,to furnish a good and sufficient bond as required by an act of the Legislature of the State of California, approved [Jay 10, 1919, entitled "An act to secure the clai of r-aterial~en,mechsnics,or laborers employed by contractors upon State, ~unicipal or other pub].ic work," and will also be required to exhibit to said Board of Trustees a policy of insurance showing that said bidder is insured against loss through accident or negligence,in such s way as to sstisfa -ily protect said City of South San Francisco under the Dro~isions o£ the ~'Wor~en's Condensation, Insurance and Safer? Act of the State of California". The contract must be entered into in co~liance with and subject to the conditions imposed by ~ection 653c of the Penal Code of the State of California, Sealed DroDosals or bids will be delivered to the City Clerk on or before eight (8) o'clock .on Hondsy, the 26th day of Septe~ber, 1921.
