The Noard of TruStees Of the City of South San Francisco met in regular session in the City Hal~ on May 7th,1923. The Board was called to order at 7;30 o'clock p.m. by G.W..Holston, President of the Board of TrUstees. There were present the following trustees; F.A.Ounningham,A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt-,H.Scampini,' and G.W.Holston. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion by Trustee A.J.Eschelbach seconded by truste~Cunningham and regularly carried, were approved as read. AXX~, applieation for a permit to hold a dance was received' from the local Fire ~epartment, the same to be held Saturday evening May 12th, at Fraternal Hall. Granted. Senator M.B.Johnson replied to the city's ,eomm~mication requesting him to oppose Senate Bill $447. The Senator"expressed his thanks for the communication showing the position' of the Board in reference to the bill.- A petition'waslreceived from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company asking permission to excavate in~wift Avenue opposite the sub-station of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company for the purpose ~f installing ~ ,18 feet of one creosoted wood duct from the north to the south side,.of said avenue. Permis- sion granted. Lloyd ~ Thayer, General Manager of the South S.F.Land & Imp. Co. replied to the city's letter requesting himS-meet a committee of the Board of Trustees to lock over the ground for a proposed roadway from the city to Los Cerito Tract. Mr. Thayer stated that he would be in consultation with Engineers of the United Railroads, the Southern Pacific Company,the Spring Valle~Company and City Engineer Geo. ~neese on May 8th with regard to the drainage problem, and would be pleased.to meet the Board Committee at any ime after that date. Accepted and filed. A request was received from police officer ~ouis Belloni for a raise of salary from $12~ to $1~o per month. On motion of Trustee ~Eschelbachseconded by Trustee Ounningham and regularlycarried the request was granted. The reports of the Fire Chief, City Marshal, BUilding Inspector, Electrical Inspector, City Treasurer and City Clerk for-the month ending April 30th.last were next r$ad, The report of the City Clerk showed the following balances in the various funds,- General fund.'$24,787.07, Library fund, $~,289.~?, Sinking fund for sewe~, $2,620.93, $&ct. Absent, Trustees, None, Attest Daniel, M~C.Sweeney City Clerk City Engineer George A.Kneese then appeared before the Board of Trustees and p~esented a repor of the estimated cost of a sewer system in ~an Bruno Road f. rom C~pman Avenue to the North boundary line of said city and in Butler Road .together wi~h an outfall sewer and a sewer system in that portion of South San Francisco lying west of Chestnut Avenue. The report was read by the City Clerk and the same was ordered to be placed on file. The cost of such sewer systems is estimated at $~8,000.00. The plans and specifications and estimate of the cost of construction of such sewer systems, ~ rightsof way for such outfall sewer, and the question of incurring a bonded indebtedness was considere~ by said Board of Trustees .and thereupon trustee H.Scampini introduced the following resolution: RESOLUTION"A'~ Whereas George A.Kneese, City Engineer of the City of South San Francisco, has presented to th Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco full and complete plans, specifications and estima' shOwing the location, size and method of construction and cost of a proposed sewer system in San Bruno' from ChaPmanAvenue to the north boundary line of said city and in Butler Road, designed for the recept: collection and disposal of sewage and storm waters of said portion of said City o~ South San Francisco, and of a proposed sewer system in that portion of said city lying west of Chestnut Avenue, designed for the reception.collection and disposal of sewage in said portion of said city lying wes~ of Chestnut Ave: and ~hereas said plans, specifications and estimates for said sewer systems are accompanied by all the necessary information, estimates and drawings necessary to completely explain such plans, specifica' and estimates,and the same appearing to this Board to be complete and correct in each detail and suitabl for the purposes for which the same are intended; Resolved that the plans, specifications and estimates for said proposed sewer systems forths portions of said City of South San Francisco hereinbefore designated, which have been prepared heretofo: and submitted by said City Engineer,be, and the same hereby are accepted and filed as and for the offic' plans and specifications for said work. Attest Daniel McSweeney City Cler~ The following resolution was then introduced by Trustee F.A.Cunningham; RESOLUTION"B~ Whereas the City. of South San Francisco, a municipal corporation within the County of San Mateo, State of California, has no system of sewers adequate for the disposal of sewage and storm water in 5an Bruno Road from Chapman Avenue to the north ~oundary line of said city and in Butler Road; and Whereas said City of South San Francisco has no system of sewers adequate for the disposal of sewage in that portion of said City of South San Francisco lying west of Chestnut Avenue; Now, therefor$, be it resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, as follows: First: It is hereby determined that public interest and necessity demand the acquisition,, construction and completion by the City of South San Francisco. a municipal corporation, of a system of sewers for said city in San Bruno Road from Chapman Avenue to the north, boundary line of said city and in ButlerRoad, including an outfall sewer and the acquisition of the necessary rights of way for said outfall sewer, and also a system of sewers in that portion of said $i$y of South San Francisco lying west of 0hestnut Avenue. The fOllOWing r'esolution was introduced by Trustee~ Eschelbach;- Whereas, the Board of Trustees of She City of. So~th San Francisco did,on the 25th day of April, 1923, pass its resolution of intention ~o abate the nuisauce caused by weeds growing upon the streets,in said resolUtion of intention describedI and WhJreas notices headed "Notices to ~estroy Weeds", have been conspicuously posted in fron' of all the property in front of which said weeds are growing, in the manner and form required by law; and more than five (5) days having elapsed since the completion of the posting of said notices; end ~. RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF WEEDS. i923. ~he following resOlution was introduced by Trustee~ Eschelbach;- Whereas the Board of Trustees of She City of, So~th San Francisco did,on the 25th day of April, 1923, pass its resolution of intention to abate the nuisance caused by weeds growing upon the streets,in said resolution of intention described~ and Whereas notices headed "Notices to ~estroy Weeds", have been conspicuously posted in front of all the property in front of which said weeds are growing, in the manner and form required by law; and more than five (5) days having elapsed since the completion of the oosting of said notices; and ~ Whereas.no person has objected or protested against the proposed removal of said weeds; Resolved. by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the Street Superintendent of said $ity be, and he hereby ts ordered to abate said nuisance by having the weeds referred to in said resolution of intention removed.
