BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
HELD MONDAY, JULY 2nd, 192~.
The~regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the ~ity of South San Francisco was held in
City Hall, Monday July 2nd,192~.
In the absence of Trustee G.W.Holston, ~resident of'the Board, Trustee F.A.Cunningham acted
as President Pro Tom, and called the meeting to order at ?;80 o'clock p.m.
Roll Call.
Roll call found the following Trustees present, to-wit;-
Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini.
Absent, Trustee, G.W.Holston.
Trustee Holston appeared after roll call.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Pitt seconded by
Trustee Scampini and regularly carried were approved as read.
~A ststement was received from the Market Street Railway $Ompany, showing a balance du~ the
City of South San Francisco of $71~.28, being two per cent of the gross earnings of the ~i~. ~'
South San Francisco Railroad & Power Company for the year' ending April 21st,]92Z. under Ordinances
and 85. The Board approved the statement and instructed the 61erk to so communicate to the Railway
Company.
The Protect-O-Floor Leather L~at Company submitted a bid of $1.2~ per square foot for
square feet of leather matting for the City Hail. Referred to the purchasing committee.
The Standard Oi~ Company petitioned the Board to amend Ordinance $117 to permit them to
construct a gasoline station at the North East Corner of Baden and Linden Avenuees. Laid over until
further investigation can be had.
Applications for soft ~rink licenses were received from C.T.Connelly and A.Bertolucci.
The applications were granted by the following vote;-
Ayes, Trustees F,A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Holston.
Noes, Trustees, None.
Absent, Trustees, None.
An application for a pool room license was received from C.T.Co nnolly, 25? Grand Avenue
and gr~nted by the following vote;-
Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Holston.
Noes, Trustees, None.
Absent, Trustees, None.
An application was received from F.W.Brown for a permit to make repairs in the ~rank Giffra
store on Grand Avenue, the same ~o cost appromimately $8oo. Permit Granted.
Supervisor Thomss Hickey appeared before the Board and asked the City's assistance in keeping
unlawful heavy traffic from injuring the HiShway between South San Francisco and San Bruno. Heferred
to the street committee.
A report was received that the Telephone company's ooles in the alley in block 95 are some
two feet from the property line. The clerk was instructed to write the telephone company and request
that the pole in the alley opposite 62Z Miller Avenue be moved back to ~he property line.
Charles ~ercks of Juniper Avenue asked the Board to place a light in that street, stating
there are none there at nresent. Eeferred to the street committee.
Hugh McNellis of Peck's Lots appeared before the Board and asked that more publicity be
given the approaching sewer bond election, suggesting that the large factories be requested to call the
attention of their employees to the mecessity of the carrying of the bonds. City attorney Coleberd
stated that has compiled a statement of the comparative amounts of taxes paid by all sections and all
classes of the community snd that the circular would b~ in the mails before Saturday, to give the voters
an opportunity to study the facts.
The reports of the ~ealth Officer, Fire Chief,Building Inspector, City Marshal and City
Clerk for the month ending June Z0th were nent read.
The report of the City Clerk showed the following balances in the various funds;-
General Fund, $22,096.67, Librar~ Pund,$4,654.59, Sinking Fund for sewers,$3,122.98,
Factory Dist. Sewer Fu~d,$T19.82,1919 Bonds $8,o45.59, Anti-tubercular fund $149.88, Street Funds, Ser"
"A"$148.7~ Ser. "B", $72.41, Ser. "C", $195.88~-Ser. "D", $1529.20~ Ser."E", $52.14,~ Ser."F",$669.06~
Ser, "G", $999.84. Total Balance in all funds, $42,451.81. On motiOn of Trustee Pitt seconded by Trustee
Scampini and regularly carried the reports were accepted as read.

RESOLUTION AWARDING BONDS
The following resolution was introduced by Trustee Eschelbach;-
Whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of SOu~h Sah ~rancisco did, on the 21st day of
May,192Z, direct the clerk of said city to publish a notice, in the manner and form required by law,
inviting sea2ed proo°sals or bids to be filed with said City Clerk up to the hour of ?;~0 o'clock p.m.
on Monday, the 18th day of June, 192J, for the purchase of bonds is~ued upon the security of the unpaid
assessments for doing the improvement work upon School Street from the southerly line of Olive Avenue
to the southerly term'inus of School Street and Olive Avenue from the southerly line of Armour Avenue
to the northwesterly terminus of Olive Avenue, in the City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo,
State of California, fully described in Resolution of Intention No.~8, passed on the 26th day of June,
192~, to which reference is hereby m~de; and
Whereas said notice has been duly published in all respect as required by law; and
Whereas no paoposals or bids for said bonds have been received, ~nd the time fixed in said
notice for receiving such proposals or bids has expired; and
Whereas there now remains due to C.B.Eaton and J.M.Smith, the contractors by whom said street
improvement work was performsd,0ne Hundred ~ Eighty-two_and 96/100 Dollars ~$18E.96) upon the assessment
and warrant issued by said Superintendent of Streets therefor;
Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the bonds heroin's.
before referred to be, and the same hereby are awarded to C.B.Eaton and J.M.Smith upon the assessment
and warrant issued by said Superintendent of Streets of said city for said street improvement work,
and the City Clerk is hereby a~thorized and directed to deliver said bonds to C.B.Eaton an~ J.M.Smith.
Said ~onds are £ully described in a resolution of ssid Board of Trustees entitled "An order
providing for the issuance of street imorovement bonds,prescribing the denomination of such bonds and
the interest couoons attached" No.~8, passed and adopted on the 21st day of ~ay,192Z,to which reference
~is hereby made~,~
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco this 2nd day of July, 1923, by the following vote

RESOLUTION AWARDING BONDS
The following resolution was intr0duved by Trustee Holston;-
Whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco did, on the 21st day of
1923, direct the clerk of said city to publish a notice, in the manner and form required by law,inviti~
sealed proposals or bids to be file~ with said City Clerk up to,the hour of ?;30 o'clock p.m. on Mondal
the 18th day of June, 1923, for the purchase of bonds issued upon the security of the unpaid assessmen
for doing the improvement work upon Randolph Avenue from a line drawn from the point of the intersecti,
of the northerly line of lot numbered one (1) with the northeasterly line of said lot in block letters,
"T", as shown upon that certain map entitled "Map of Peck's Subdivision No l, South San Francisco, San
County, Cal.,which map was filed in the offive of the County Recorder of the County of San Mateo,
California,, June 24th,1907, in Book #6 of 0riginal Maps at page ll, across Randolph Avenue at right a:
with the center line thereof, to the line separating lots numbered five (5) and (6) in block lettered
"A", produced southerly across ~andolph Avenue; Chapman Avenue drom the southerly line of Randolph Aw
to the northwesterly line of San Bruno Road; Green Avenue from the northerly line of Chapman Avenue to
the southerly line of Randolph Avenue; and Gardiner Avenue from the southeasterly line of Braden Avenu,
to the northwesterly line of San Bruno Road, in the City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo,
State of California,fully described in Resolution of Intention No. 46, passed on the 29th da~ of May,
1922,to which reference is hereby made; and
Whereas said notice has been duly published in all respects as required by law; and
Whereas ~,a~ proposals or bids for said bonds have been received, and the time £ixed in said notice
for receiving such~ proposals or bids has expired; and
Whereas there now remains due to C.B.Eaton and J.M.Smith,the contractors by whom said stree'
improvement work was performed, Seventeen ThouSand Nine Hundred and Fifty and 46/100 Dollars ($17,950.,
upon the assessment and warrant issued by said Superintendent o~ Streets therefor;
Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the bonds
hereinbefore referred to be, and the same hereby are awarded to C.B.Eaton and J.M.Smith upon the
assessment and warrant issued by said Superintendent of Streets of said city for said street improvemi
work, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to deliver said bonds to said C.B.Eaton an~
J.M.Smith.
Said bonds are fully described in a resolution of said Board of Trustees entitled "An order
viding for the issuance of street improvement bonds, prescribing the denomination of such bonds and thf
interest coupons attached",No.46, passed and adopted on the 21st day of May, 1923, to which reference
hereby made.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco this 2nd day of July, 1923, by the following vote;

The claims having been audited by the finance committee Trustee Pitt moved the2
'be paid. The motion was seconded by Trustee Scampini and regularly carried.
There being no further business before the Board Trustee Scampi~i~ moved to ad
until the next regular meeting. The motion was seconded by Trustee Pitt and regularly Carry.
