OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
HELD, MONDAY,SEPT~BER l?th,19£~
Regular meetin~ of the Board of Trustees of the ~ity of South San Francisco held Monday
evening, September 17th,1923, in.the City Hall.
The meeting was called to order at ?;30 o'clock P.~i. by Trustee G.W.~olston, President of
of the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all members of the Board present, to-wit;-
Trustees, F.A.Cunningham,A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.~.Holston.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion by Trustee~ Cunningham,
seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried were approved as read.
This being the date set for the opening of bids for street cleaning work for the ensuing
year Trustee Cunningham moved they be opened. The motion was seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and
regularly carried.
The following bids were then opened and read to the Board;-
The bid of M.A.Borba, agreeing to do the cleaning of the city streets f~r 8425' mo -

In the absence of City Attorney Coleberd it was deemed advisable to postpone a~tion on
letting the contract until the next regmlar meeting of ~he Board. Accordingly upon motion by Trustee
Cunningham, seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried the matter of letting the contract
w~s postponed until the next meeting of the Board.
The City Engineer a~peared before the Board and stated that he had prepared certain data
relative to the building of a road from the foot of Orange Avenue to a point opposite Third Street,
Los Ceritos Tract. He advised the'Board that rights of way should be secured from the United Railways,
the Southern Pacific Company and the Spring Valley Water Company before proceeding further with the
plans. The length of the road as surveyed is 1400 feet by a width of 60 feet.
Dr. F.S.Dolly appeared before the Board in reference to three signs which the Chamber of
Commerce recommends '~ould beneficial to the city's interests if placed in conspicuous places
approaching the city limits. He was requested to place his proposition in writing and have the same
forwarded to the Board of Trustees by the Chamber of Commerce.
RepOrt was made to the Board that the sidewalk in front of Langanbach's store,
Grand Avenue was broken and in bad condition and also that the same is out of official grade. The
Clerk was instructed to write the owner and request that the sidewalk be repaired and put to official
grade.
RESOLUTION FIXING TAX RLTE FOE FISCAL YEAR 1923-1924.
The following resolution was introduced by Trustee Cunningham;-
Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the number of~'
cents to be paid to said 8ity of South San Francisco upon each One Hundred (100) Dollars of the
property taxable by said municipality within said City of South San Francisco, and hereby l~vied upon
for the purposes of the several funds hereinafter named for the fiscal year beginning July lst,1923~
and ending June Z0th,1924, be, and the same hereby are designated as follows:
ON ALL PEOPERTY CONTAINED WITHII~ THE ORIGINAL
CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF SAID CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
General fund, One Dollar ($1.00)
Fund for the payment of
municipal improvemen~ sewer bonds Eleven (ll) cents
Library Fund
Eight (8) cents
Fund for the payment of the
municipal improvement bonds,series 1919, Twenty-six (26) cents;
And said Board of Trustees hereby fixes the rate of taxes of said 6ity at the sum of One
and 45/100 Dollars,($1.45) upon each one hundred (100) dollars of the orope~Zy taxable by said munici-
pality and contained within the original corporate boundaries of said City of South San Francisco,
the same being th% aggregate of the amounts set opposite the foregoing funds, and hereby levies the
sum of One and 4§/100 Dollars ($1.45)uponeach One Hundred (100) Dollars of ail the property taxable
by said municipality and contained within the original corporate boundaries of said City of South
San Francisco, and orders the same to be collected.

And said Board hereby fixes the rate of taxes of s~id City at the sum of One and ~4/100
Dollars ($1.~4) upon each One Hundred (100) Dollars of the property taxable by said municipality
which is contained within the boundaries of the land annexed to said City of South San Francisco
by a special election held '~arch 1Zth,1916, the same being the aggregate of the amounts set opposite
the funds last hereinbefore set forth, and hereby levies the sum of One and'34/100 Dollars ($1.54)
upon each One Hundredm (100) Dollars of all the property ta~able by said municipality within the
boundaries of the land annexed to said City of South San Francisco as aforesaid, and orders the same
to be collected.
i hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, this l?th day of September,1923, by the the
following vote;
Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbsch, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Holston.
Noes, Trustees, None.
Absent, Trustees, None.

The claims having been audited by the finance com~ittee,Cunningham moved they be paid.
The motion was seconded by Trustee Eschelba6h and regularly carried.
There being no further business before the Board Trustee Pitt moved to adjourn until
the next regular meeting. The'motion was seconded by Trustee Scampini and regularly carried.
