HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1924-05-26ADJOURNED REGULAR ME~TING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WAS HELD MONDAY, MAY 26TH,19£4. A regularly adjourned meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisc( was held in the City Hall Monday evening, kay 26th,19£4. The meeting was called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. by Trustee H.F.McNellis, ~resident ( the Board. ROLL CALL· Roll call found all trustees present,to-wit; Trustees, Carl Blank, F.A.Cunningha~,A.J.Eschelbach, H.McCaffrey and H.F.McNellis. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and there being no objections were approved as read. An application was received from the Standard 0il Company requesting p~rmission to make certain alterations in a store leased by them in the ~etropolitan Hotel Building. Permit Granted. A night letter was received from Lloyd W.Thayer,~eneral ~anager of the South San Francisc¢ Land end Improvement Company, from ~ashington, D.C..stating that a hearing was held before the Rive and Harbor Board of that city on the South San Francisco bar situation at which Senator~ ShortridEe Congressmen Free and Kahn were present. The letter stated that no dicision had been reached up to the time of writing. Accepted and filed. A communication was received from Major G.~ Young, ~esident Member of the Board of Engines at Washington ,D.C. acknowledging receipt of this city's letter enclosing a resolution endorsing th improvement of the South San Francisco Harbor, and assuring the Board of Trustees that careful consideration would be given the matter. City Marshal Belloni made request upon the board for permission to overhaul his police machine at the city's expense. ~equest granted. Night Policeman Vincent Bianchini made a request upon the Board to have a phone placed in his home at the city's expense, Granted. The laid over application of ~rank Wallace for a pool room license was again taken up and upon motion regularly carried was rejected. ~eralamo Cesano 20~ ~rand Avenue made application for a soft drink license. Application l~ over and the city ~arshal instructed to investigate. The appllcaation of Mrs.MarSeglio BSandini,~lB Linden Ave. for a soft ~rink license for he was granted by the foSlowing vote;- Ayes, Trustees, Carl Nlank, F.A.Cunning~am, A.J.Eschelbach. H.McCaffrey, H.F.McNellis. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent,,Trustees, None. Trustee Blank reported that permission had been given S Guadnagi, ~309 Magnolia Avenue to remove certain trees interfering with the sidewalk in front of his property. He also stated that ar ments would be made to remove trees from the vicinity of the residence of Pete Cavanaugh. A~light w~s reported ~equired at Braden & Randolph Avenues, Peck's Lote. Referred to the Street Committee. The building Inspector reported that he had stopped the work of repairing the roof of the John Venturi barn, pending the advice of the board. The Board decided to allow the work to proceed instructed the Building inspector accordingly. City Atto~rney Davis was instructed to draw up a suitable traffic ordinance for the city including provisions regulating the weight of trucks passing over the city streets. Attention was called to the fact that a raised platform was needed in the court roomof Jud Cunningham, to accommodate jurors. The President appointed Trustees McCaffrey, Eechelbach and Blan · a committee to take care of the matter. ~Fire Chief B.H.Truax was recommended aaa suitable officer to fill the position of Custod of the City Hall. On motion regularly carried he was regularly appointed to fill the position. The subject of a flag pole for the City iiall was next taken up. Fire chief Truax was instr to look into the matter of the price, etc, and to report at t:_e next meeting. ORDINANCE ~123.
