The regular me~:ting of the board of trustees of the City of South San ~'rancisco was held in the City Hall Lionday evening, June 2nd,1924. The meeting was called to order at ?;Z0 o'clock p.m.by Trustee H,F.EcNellis, President of the board. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following trustees present, to-wit;- Trustees, Carl Blank, F.A.Cunningham, H.McCaffrey,and H.F.McNellis. Absent, Trustee A.J.Eschelbach. Trustee Eschelbach appeared after roll call. The minutes of the previo?s meeting were read, and there appearing no objections were approw as read. A petition was received from a number of residents in the vicinity of Pine and'Aspen Avenues asking that a light be placed in the alley between Pine and Aspen and Linden and Cypress Avenues. Referred to the street committee. The street committee instructed the clerk to write the gas and ele~ i_~ Ce.and order the light placed as requested. A petition was received proper~y owners in block 125, asking that lights be placed in the air Referred to the street Committee. The street committee instructed the clerk to order the light place~ ~ the gas and electric company as requested. An application for the position of Librarian was received from Mrs Ruby Pasche. there being. no vacancy the application was placed on file. An invitation was extended the City Trustees to attend a meeting of the ~ighway Com~ittee of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, Friday afternoon June 6th,1924, to consider t~e matter of a d~ program for the construction of roads in this region. President McNellis appointed on a connittee to attend, Trustees F.A.Cunningham,A.J.Eschelbach and H.~IcCaffrey. The subject sf a flag&pole for ~he City Hall was next taken up. President l,lcNellis appointed a committee, consisting of Judge E.E.Cunningham and Trustees McCaffrey and Eschelbach to arrange for the purchase of a suitable pole and flag. The matter of public parks and children's play graounds for the city was again brought to the attention of the board. After considerable deliberation the following conmittee was appointed to look into the matter of location, price and other details connected with the proposed improvements;- Trustees, McCaffrey, Cunningham, Eschelbach, Blank, and civilians, A.McSweeney,Dr.T.~.'Doak and Dr. J.C.McGovern. In the matter of the sale of the ~ ~58,000 sewer bonds, City attorney Davis advised that the Same might be sold without recourse t:~ advertising for bids. Accordingly the finance conmittee was , instructed to make the best arrangements possible to dispose of the bonds. The reports of the Health Officer, City Marshal,lilectrical Inspector, Fire Chief, School Eurse and ~ity Recorder for the month ending i~,~ay 31st,1924 were next read. The report of the City Recorder showed the collections from April 22 to l,~ay 31st~ to be ~350. Reports,accepted as read. A request for an increase of salary was received fron i~anmel McSweeney as Dep Tax Collector,: ~A~ ~ COUNTY. $110 to ~165 a ~onth. Granted. RESOLUTION ON PROPOSED STATE HIG~¥AY IN ~ ~ -'~"~a Trustee 5unningham introduced a resolution resolving that the city go on record favoring a road connecting the State H~ghway at Daly City with the New Bay ?here Highway in South San Francis, by way of the old auto boulevard for a portion of the distance. The resolution passed by the vote .o£ all trustees present, to-wit, Trustees, Carl Blank,F.A 'F.A.Cunnin~ham, A.J.Eschelback, H.McCaffrey and h.~.McNellis.
