The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was hel in the City Hall ~onday evening March 16th,1925. The meeting was called to order at 7:J0 p.m. by Trustee H.F.~cNellis, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all trustees present;to-wit;- Trustees, C.Blank,F.A.Cunningham,A.J.Eschelbach,H.McCaffrey, H.F.McNellis, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and there being no errors or omissions we approved as ~read. An application was received from the South San Francisco Grove ~171, ~.A.0.D. asking permission to hold a Benefit Ball in Fraternal Hall, Sunday, April 19th,1925, from ~ p.m. until i a.m. Permit granted. Ernest Miller, Chairman of the dance committee of Bernard ~cCaffrey Post ~85, American Legion, made application for permission to hold a dance in Fratern~ Hall, Tuesday evening, ~ar 17th,1925. Permit Granted. Permit was granted to St Francis Drake Lodge to hold a d~nce ~arch A report was received £rom the Hillside Boulevard Committee, stating that ~he entire ri of way for the construction of the Boulevard through Paradise Valley had been conveyed by the owners,to the County oi San ~ateo. The committee reported this information to Supervisor Thoma Hickey, and made the request that the city Board of Trustees of South San Francisco petition th Board of Supervisors of the County.to take the necessary action for the construction o£ the pro boulevard. The city clerk was instructed communicate with the Board of Supervisors expressing wishes of the City Trustees of South San Francisco. A petition was received from a nul~ber o£ residents or property owners on the alley betw Aspen ~ Pine Avenues and between Linden & Pine Avenues, asking the board to pave said alleys wi concrete similar to"the alleys completed recently. Referred to city engineer Eneese. ~,, A cenEnunication was received from the Woman's Club of South San Francisco asking for th enforcement of the Curfew Law. The board consi~ered the communication favorably, and appointed a committee consisting of Police Chief Belloni and Fire Chief Truax to take action. Building permits were i~ued to E.Corte~i, for a building on Lot 20, block C, Pack's L E.Carbone for a dwelling on lot ll,, block 8, High Schoo2 Park, and G.Tacchi for a building on lot J6, blockllS, ~ap of South San Francisco. All to be under tLe supervision of the building inspector. H.G.~athewson, secretary of the ~!tate Railroad Commission, submitted a conm.~unication to th Board stating the commission h~d set bhe date for the rehearing in ~he matter o~ the gra cros~,ings at Orange Avenue and Third Street for~Tuesday, April 21s~,!925 at 10.J0 A.~. in the C Hall. Filed. A~"application was received from the South San Francisco Land and Improvement Company, asking for the granting of an easement for a private pipe-line across Linden Avenue and San Bru Road at points indicated on an at~ached blue print. Permission was granted by resolution by the ~ unanimous vote of the board. Re~olution ~ecorded in Book of Resolutions, Volume #2, at page A communication was received from T.P.Andrews, r~presenting the City of South San Fran in endorsing the Bay Shore High~ay project before the Legislators at Sacramento, Cal.,acknowled the receipt of a check of $250 as part contribution toward the work. Trustee Cunningham introduced a resolution ratifying ~he action of the board in ~dvancing the sum stated. Resolution recorded in Book of Resolutions, Volume ~2, at page ~4. ~ Dan Hyland appeared before the board regarding a per~it aske~ for by the local order of Eagles to hold a circus in the city from ~ay 12th,to May 16th, next. On motion by Tr~gZee McCa~ seconded by Trustee Blank and regularly carriod permission was granted. Mrs. Carrie V~interhalter appeared before the board and urged the trustees ~o procure ne~ for some of the windows in the City~Hall, and to have ~he halls re-tinted. She was informed att~ would be given them as ~oon a~~ the contractor finishod making repairs. The',matter of the Fourth of ~uly Oelebration next was given the attention of the board. Some of the committee wer$ present. The report sf those present indicated that the majority of committee was~against the celebration. Accordingly President McNellis dismissed the committee the thanks of the board. The proposition of amending the zoning ordinance was brought up by bity Attorney Davis. He stated City Engineer ~eese w~s preparing a new map to be submitted to the board at a future meeting, The matter w~s laid over until such time. Discussion was next brought up regarding The extension of orange Avenue. President ~cNellis inquired of ~ity Engineer George A. Kneese if grade st~kes are set £or ~he street. The engineer reported the stakes not ye~,~and w~ instructed to set the lines ~o that preliminary wor~ might begin. It was planned to hold a opening on Sunday~April 19th, and invite the public to attemd and help carve the willows from street through to Town o£ Baden. ~he following committee w~s appointed to take charge of the work;- A.J.Eschelbach, Chairman, H.F.Mc~ellis,Hugh ~cCaffrey,~.B.Hodgkin, Bobby Burns,B.H. Truax, George A~Kneese,Ira ~.Potter,and Harry J.Borba. ORDINANCE ~133. An ordinance amending section ~ 3 of Ordinance 127, entitled "An 0rd~nance regulating the business of and the construction a~dlZaintenance of Bill Boards, Fences,Signs, and other struct erected or used for advertising purposes in the City of South San Francisco" Was introduced by T McCaffrey, had its first reading and was laid over to come up under the regular order of busines the ne~t regular meoting o~ t~e Board of Trustees.
