Ti~e regular meeting of the Board. of Trustees of the City off South San Francisco ~as held
in the City Hall Monday evening, April 20th,1925.
The meeting was c~lled to order at 7;~0 o'clock p.m. by Trustee H.~'.McI~ellis, President
of the board.

The minutes off the previous meeting were read, and there being no errors or omissions
were approvec as read.
A communication was received from Fred J.Lautze asking for permission to install a gasoline
tank below ground at his new place of business on San Bruno Road, having complied with the Fire
Marshal's instructions. Granted.
A petition '~as received from seven residents in the bloc~ ,~85 asking the board to pave the
alley in ~aid block and also Accacia ~)treet between Grand and Baden Avenues. l(eferred to the City
Engineer.
Application was m:de by the Employee's Wel£are Club of the ~'estern Meat Company for permiss-
ion to hlod an entertainment and dance in Fraternal Hall Wednesday evening, April 22, dancing from
l0 p.m.until 2 a.m. Granted.'
H G.Mathewson, Secretary of the Railroad COmmission notified the board that the hearing
in zho matter of the application of the ~outh San Francisco Water Company for increased rates would
be set for¥~onday, April 27~h,1~25, at 10;50 a.m. in the City Hall, South San F~ancisco, Filed.
The Avalon Club made application flor permission to hold ~unday afternoon dancing in Fraternal
f~om 2 till 6 p.m. commencing April 26th next, during the pleasure of the board. Permission granted
with the exception of Sunday May 10th 1925, which date is held by the Portuguese Society of South
San Francisco, and when some other important eve~t might necessitate the board's granting permission
for ~Tunday afternoon.

a dance in Fraternal hall Saturday evening, May 16th,1925.Granted.
Manuel Castro, on bahalf of Moulder's ~nion Branch ~164, applied for a permit to hold a
dance in Fraternal Hall Saturday evening May 30th,~25. Granted.
Acknowledgment was received from the Spring Valley Water Compamy to the city's letter
requesting them to repair the Sah Bruno Road in places where breaks occurred over their pipe line.
The company requested the city to have the ~ork done at their expense, if possible, as they are not
equipped with the proper apparatus for this class o£ work. ~efer~.ed to the street committee.
A telegram was received from the committee sent to Sacramento to request Governor ~ichardso~
to sign the South San Francisco =arbor Bill. The telegram stated that the Governor signed the bill.
The committee making the trip consisted of City Atzorney John F.Danis and A.McSweoney. They brought home
the pen with which the Governor si~nea the bill.
A buiSding per~it application was, received from Joe Bruno 8 Olive Avenue, to build a garage
in place of his old one. Permit,Eranted and referreu to the building inspector.
The report of Health officer Dr. T.C.Doak for the months of February and March were next
read. On motion by trustee Blank seconded by Trustee McCaffrey and regularly carried the report was
accepted. The report showed the city virtually in a clean condition of health. Dr Doak add~essed
the board in the matter of appointing a health commission, it was decided to take the matter
up later with the health officer and Board of Trustees.
Fire Chief Truax adrressed the board with reference to additional water hydrants. ~e
stated that double hydrants ~ere require~ at the New Methodist Church, the Catholic Church and opposite
the Fontana Food Products Company on the San Br~mo Road. The cl~rk was instructed to write to the
South San Francisco Water Company and order the hydrants installed.
Complaint was made that the concrete nad not been proper]y replaced, over the sewer in the
alley back cZ the new telephone building. The clerk w~s instructe~ to write to the contractor, ~[illiam
Hickey, and request that the work be attended to at once.
The laid over application of Mrs. J.i~.Baradat for permission to r~m dinner dances at her
restauranz 205 Grand Avenue on Saturday~ evenings and until two a.m. ,~:unday mornings for the duration
of six months was next taken up. After ~iscussion it was decided by the board to grant permission to
hold dances until 12 o'clock ~, Saturday evenings during the pleasure off the bosr,d.
The clerk was instructed to order a light placed at the corner of California and Mapl~ 4venu~
request for the same having been made at the ~revlous meeting.
The ~ubject of the Breed ~aso]ine T~z Bill was ne:~:t given consideration. The board decidoa
by resolution to endorse, the bil3& .send co'~ies Legislator~ ando~overnor Friend W.Richardson, asking
their support o~ the measure, k2ecorded in~.B0ok::of ReSolutions Volume ~2 at page 36.
In the matter of Harbour Bill ~1261 the board was inclined to oppose its passage, but
referred the bill to ~ity Attorney for opinion and decision.
~equests~ having been received by the board to construc~ a sewer in the alley between
California and ~ux, Maple and Linden, the clerk was instructed to prepare and advertise notice
bidders for the work.
Trustee Es~helbach, Chairman of the Orange Avenue Day committee of arrangements reported
that the event was a great success and that the willows had been cut clear through to Los Ceritos,
opening the avenue ready for grading. The clerk was instructed to write to the two newspa~ers for
the Board of Trustees thanking the public for their co-operation and assistance in cutting the road
through.
Owing to slight di£ferences of opinion regarding the acceptance of a resolution
conveyance of the proposed 20 acre Park Site ~rom the South San Francisco Land and Improvement Company
action was postponed until an~ adjourned meeting ~'riday April ~4~th,1925 a'~ 17;~30 ,o,':c~ock p.m.
Trustee Cunningham introduced a resolution on notice of hearing ~inal report in the matter
of re-zoning the City of South San Francisco, and requiring the notice to be published in the Enterpris~
Resolution adopted by the unanimous vote 5f the trustees. Recorded in Book of Lesolutions vol.~o.2,

There being no further busine~ before the board Trustee Cunningham moved to adjourn until
