OF SOUTH SAN F~iNCISCO ,HELD,MONDAY, SEPT. 21ST, 1925.
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was
held in the City Hall, Monday evening, September 21st,1925.
The meeting was called to order at 7;Z0 o'clock p.m. by Trustee H.F.McNellis, Presiden~
of the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found ~ll trustees present,to-wit;-
~rustees, Blank,Cunningham,Eschelbach,McCaffrey, McNallis.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and there being no errors or omissions
were approve~ as read.
Application was made by the Avalon Club for permission to hold a dance in Fraternal Hall
Saturday evening October l?th, under the auspices of Said club, the dance to continue until 2 a.m.,
Permission was gr~nted to run the d~nce until 1
Tippecanoe Tribe #lll applied for ~ p~rmit to hold A Halloween ~ask Ball in Fraternal
Hall Saturday eveing October 24th next, ~he same to continue un~il 2 a.m. .?ermission was granted
to hold the d~nce untid 1.a.~.
A con~nunication was received from William Ely asking the board to pay his salary as
firem~n for his usual vacation period. The amount was allowed, by the unanimous vote of the board .
The Enterprise Foundr~ made application to the board for permission for B.C.Smoker
to carry firearms and be deputized aS a city of£icial for the purpose of his protection 0nly, ,
The co~nunication stated ~r. Smoker had been £ired upon by some unknown person and his life was in
danger. Laid over for investigation.
The South City Lumber & Supply Company ma~e application to the Board for a building
permit to construct a lime pit, bunkers and cement and lime warehouse on 2ailroad Avenue, west of
the California Iron Yards. Permit granted under the supervision of ~he building Ins',~ector.
A petition was received from a number of prope~ty owners in the vicinity of Grand Avenue
and Eission Ro~d to pave the shoulders of Grand Avenue Extension from Chestnut Streetto old Nission
Road. The maturer was referred to city engineer Eneese for advice.
Andrew Sorensonapplied for permission to. construct ~ garages, each l0 x 20 feet in dimension
facing alley on lot 15,block 1Zg. Permit granted.
E.Giorgette sent a connuunication to ~he b~ard stating thgt he had s01d his soft drink
business at 206 Grand Avenue to ~r. Oliver Cor~esi, ~nd requested Lhe bo~rd to transfer the ~icense
to said party. The transfer was agreeable to the board and ~ new license allowed.
Dr. J.C.Ec~overn sent a coml~unication to t~_e bo~rd stating he would be in attendance at
the League of C~lifornis Municip~lities convention at Long Beach as a member of the Board of Health.
An application was received from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company asking for permission
to construct an underground condui~ for thei~ ~ines over San Bruno Ro~d ~cross Grand Avenue, to
complete ~aid ~ines. Permission granted.
enry Yeit asked the board for permission to remodel the front of his house, Permission
was granted under the supervision of the building inspector.
The clerk was requested to write the ~arket street Railway Company regarding their charges
for connecting with a wig wag system at Third Street and 0r~nge Avenue.Also to communicate with
the Southern Pacific Co. regarding an easement over their tracks at 0yange Avenue and Third Streets
and 0range Avenue and Railroad Av?nue.
o~is Belloni, the City ~i~rshal, asked for ~ police car. The mat~er w~s referred to the
purchasing committee with full ~ower to act.
RESOLUTION ADOPTING TAX RATE.
Trustee Cunningham introduced a ro~i'olution adopting the tax r~te for the ensuing year,
and fixing the rates for ~he different 2unds as follows,

The claims having been audited by the finance committee trustee McOaffrey moved they be rai~
The motion was seconded by trustee Bla:-~k and regularly carried.
There being no further business before the b~g~ trustee McCaffrey moved to adjourn until
th~ next regular meeting, The motion was sexonded b~ t~ustee Blank and re~!~ularly carried.
