The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was held in th~
City Hall Monday evening, January l?th,19E?.
The meeting was called to order at ?:Z0 o'clock p.r~. by Trustee F.£.Cunningham, President of
the board.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all trustees present, to-wit;- Trustees Eschelbach, Lloyd, ~inucciani,Tibbett~
Cunningham.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and there being no errors or omiszions ~ere appr~
as resd.
A co~znunication was received from the Pacific Telegraph and Telephone Com!any asking permissio~
~o install an underground conduit to the City Hall. Permission granted.
An application for a truck driver's position in the fire department was received from Albert S~
Beltrami of this city. Application ordered p~aced on file, on account of no vacancies at present ti~
Peter Eariani made verbal application for a ~ruck driver position in the fire department ~lso.
~pplication placed on file for the present.
Permission was asked by the Italian-American Citizen's Club to hold a celebration of dedicatio~
from July lst,to July 4th,19~?. ~aid over until the next meeting.
The Parisian Cleaners petitioned the board to amend the laundry ordinance to include dry cl~an~
wholesale and retail..~ct~on deferred until the ne×t meeting.
~he South San Francisco ~occor Club made a~plication for a permit to hold a dance in Fr~ternal
Hall Saturday evening, February ~th,19£? Permit granted.
Tippecanoe Tribe ~lll, local tribe ~'~f Redmen requested permission to hold a dance in Fraternal
Hall Saturday evening, January Sgth,19~?, until I A.M. P~rmission granted.
Miss Rue Clifford u~rote a letter of that, s to the board for her aT~ointment as Library Trustee.
stated she would fill the position~to the be~t of her ability.
President Cunningham received a communication from the Board of Underwriter~ of the Pacific,
containing a list of 18 recommendations for improvement in the Fire Defense System under considerat~
by the board. Blue prints showing the ~rojected improvements not having arrived President Cunningh~
instructed the clerk to write the Board o£ Under~riters requesting a set be forv~arded.
The Electrical, Products Corporation made request for permission to erect a double-faced verti~
electric sign in front of Cor~'udetti Brcs, £81 Grand Avenue. Permission granted.
The Water Morks Supply Company of San Francisco submitted a list of prices for fire hydrants
six inch barrel and six inch hub with two 2~ inch hose outlets. Will be given consideration at the
next meeting of the board.
Applications for so£t drink licenses were received from Jennings Pharmacy and Enrico Gianni, Z~
street ~nd E1 Camino, and grahted.
The reports of the Police Chief, ~ity nurse and City Treasurer were next read and accepted.
ORDINANCE N0.142.
An Ordinance entitled "~/~ 0BDINANCE OF T~ CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
REQUIRING DRIV~ES OF LLL VEHICLES TO STOP
SUCH VEHICLES AT CERTAIN STREET INTERSECTIONS
IN TEE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCIS00, had its second reading, and was
passed and adopted as an ordinance of the city of South San Francisco, by the following vote;-
Ayes, Trustees, Eschelbach, Lloyd, M~nucciani, Tibbetts, Cunningham.
Noes, Trustees, None.
Absent, Trustees, None.
Attest, Daniel McSweeney,
Recorded in Book of Ordinances, Vol 2, at page 177.
City Clerk.
Peter Miarani requested permission to cut down three trees in front of his property, Orange Aw
and Grand Avenue. Permission granted.
President Cunningham brought up the subject of garbage disposal, and suggested that bids might
cal!edfor and charges regulated with a view to the city receiving some revenue. Trustee Eschelbac]
suggested an ordinance night be drawn up dealing with the matter, and city Attorney Coleberd stated
such an ordinance would be practicable. Trustee lloyd believed a committe should be appointed to go
into the subject carefully, and accordingly President Cunningham appointed three members of the boa~
as a committee of investigation, namely, Trustees Lloyd, Eschelbach and Tibbetts.
Trustee Liinucciani asked the clerk if it was necessary to continue the present assistance in ti
clsrk's office. The clerk stated that o~ing to the~great increas in the city's business, and the
additional a~Lount of labor imposed by the new auditing system being installed pernauent assistance
is necessary, and asked the board's permission to continue the present assistant for the present ti~

The claims having been audited by the finance committee ~rustee Eschelbach moved they .be paid.

The motion was seconded by trustee Lloyd and regularly carried.
There being no further busine~s before the board Trustee Lloyd moved to ~dJourn until Monday
J~nuary 24th,1927, at 7;Z~ o'clock p.m. The motion ~as seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly
carried.
