The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall, Monday evening, February ?th, 1927. The meeting was called to order at ?.Z0 o'clock p.m by trustee F.A.Cunningham, President of the Board. ROLL CALL Roll call found the following trustees ~resent, to-wit;- Trustees, Lloyd, Minucciani, Tibbetts, Cunningham. Absent, Trustee Eschelbach. The minutes of the ~revious meeting were read, and there being no errors or omissions were approved as read, A communication was received from the So. San Francisco Taxpayers Association advocating more and better fire protection,for the city, and the adoption of the report of the State Board of Fire Underwriters. President Cunningham stated that bids for 12 new double hydrants would be opened on the 28th of the current month, that all ef£orts were being made by the Board of Trustees to increase the efficiency of the fire department, the extemsion of the service and the betterment of the same, but that it is possible the general fund would be insufficient to meet all demands placed upon it and a bond issue advocated improve this branch of the city service. The clerk was instructed to reply to the communication giving data on ~ending improvements. F.R.Phelps of Harvard, Illinois, made application for a refund of $6.Z7 taxes on account of the house on his lot #l?, block 147, having been moved off. Refund granted. A communication was received from B,J.Rodondi requesting thel boardto take action relative to his claim for $95.50 for weed cleaning in ~ront of various properties. As the clerk's record showed but six pieces of the Land and Improvement company property cleared of weeds, according to the itemized bill~ ~he matter was laid over. The police dep't requested a oermit to hold a dance Feb. 26. Permit gran Louis Cavelli wrote a request to the board to reconsider its action in denying him ~ soft drink license for his Hotel Calidonia, 511 SanBruno Road. ActiOn deferred. H.E.Reynolds, secretary of the Exchange Club of South San ~rancisco recommended on behalf of the club that Lhe City of South San Francisco communicate with the Southern Pacific Railway Company and Mr. A.E.Morgan, local agent o~the comoany and urge ~the improvement of the general appearance of the station premises. President ~unningham appointed a committee consisting of Trustee Lloyd ,and Tibbetts to confer with the railread company in the m~tter. An application for a soft drink license was received from John. O'Connor, Tanforan Avenue. Permit granted. The reports o£ the City Marshal, Treasurer,Recorder, Inspector, School Nurse and Clerk for the month ending January 31st,1927 wore next read, and accepted. The quarterly report of the audit company was also submitted. The clerE's report showed the following balance~ in the various funds;- General Fund $20,259.80, Library Fund, $2200.01, 'lglZ Sewer Fund, $~621.59,, 1919 fund, $55~4,72,- 1923 sewer fund, $10555.96;-~Oark Fund, $10182.61;-Revolving ~hmd, $100.00;- street f~mds $1731.39, Balance in all funds,- $54,186.08.!~F.J.Dumond appeared before the board and proteste~ against the purc~ of a fire engine at the present time. President Cunningham stated new hydrants were being ordered and water pipes installed. RESOLUTION ©RDERIi~G THE PURCHASE OF FIRE HYDP~J~TS FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FP~Ai~CISC0. TRUSTEE LLOYD INTRODUCED A RESOLUTION F~R~ THE P~RCHASE OF L2 DOUBLE FIRE HYDRANTS AND INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS FOR THE S~ ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28th,19~7. The resolution was adopted by the board. Recorded in Book of Resolutions, vol. 2, at page 13l. RESOLUTION OF A~ARD FOR ?~IPING ENGINE AND HOSE CART. Trustee Tibbetts 'introduced a resolution awarding the contract for furnishin~ a combination pumping engine and hose car to the Saegrave Corporation for the sum of $12750.00 less ~720 allowed for repairs to the old Saagrave in the fire department. The resolution was adopted by all the members of the board ~resent, to-wit, ~yes, Trustees, Lloyd, Einucciani, Tibbetts, Cunn~ngham. Noes, Trustees none. Absent, Trustee Eschelbach. Recorded in Book of Resolutions, vol.2, at page lJl. Mrs. Carrie Winterhalter appeared before the board and stated the interior of the City Hall was in neod of Daint~ and wall paper. The board was in agreement with the suggestion. TRUSTEE kLOYD INTRODUCED A RESOLUTION F~R~ THE PORCHASE OF L2 D0~BLE FIRE HYDRANTS AND INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS FOR THE S~ ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28th,19~7. The resolution w~s adopted by the board.
