A re~Tu!arly adjourned meeting of tile City Comlcil of %he City of South San i~rancisco was held'
in the City ,Hall Wednesday morning, January 18th,1928.
This meeting was called to order at 9',~0, o clock L.M.by councilman A,J.[]schelbach, ~a~'~ ~or of
South San Francisco.

The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was suspended..
Acor. munication was received from L~. B.Plink, asking for a position on tho election board in
April. Application placed on file.
A cm~m~ication was' received fro:~ the Southern Pacific 6ompany, acknowledging recei?t of the
city's letter requesting the ]~aving of their riffht of uay the ~fu]_l width of Swift avenue at its
junction with Grand Avenue. Accepted and ~-iaced on file.
John Flink made al~plication for a refund off ~ 60 on account of a weed tax he paid on his lot
~l,block ;~10 High School ~"~
, _ r'ar~ stating he cleared the weeds himself. ~eferred to the city engine~
Councilman Lloyd called the council's attention to tl~e uno:u,.lo}m~ent situation in South San
Francisco. He urged that ti:at the manufacturers Association should be requested to give preferenc,
to citizens, residents and tax-payeFs of South San Prancisco when enploying hell.' in the different
industries. His suggestions were well taken by the city council, and the clerk ~:~as instructed to c~
icate with t]:e Eanufacturers Association asi{i}-:g their co-op~ration by requesting their fore:::en and
spuerintendentS:':to select employees from th,.~ City of ,~o~th San Francisco, thanking tLem in advance
for the co-operation.
Refe'rring to the a?lication of the Foster & i{leiser Corn?any for permission to erect a si~'~'n on
Grand Avenue between Ma 'lo ; Linden Avenue~, Co~mcilman H~ding ~.:oved the~ applicatio~
be denied. The motion was seconded by Oo~mcilmsm Lloyd and regularly carried.
Mayor ESchelbach ne::t brouMht u~ the subject of the zoning ordinance, stating it ahould be
to clearly d%signate the unreatricte~ district, and maps r, ade to plainly show all zoning lines to
better enable contractors and city officials recognize the zone status' of all city property.
City attorney Co].eberd was requested to give tlc prol.osed a:_.end::ent consideration in the near
future.
City Attorney Coleberd Stated he v~.s in receipt of 'two claims for floral pieces in the sum of
,~20~' .00, and asked that ,ra~aent be authorized. Authorization was voted.
