The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall Monday evening, March 5th,1928. ~he meeting was called to order at 7;30 o'clock P.E. by Councilman A.J.Eschelbach, Mayor of SOuth San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the City Council present, to-wit ;. Councilmen, A.Hynding,R.Lloyd, M.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts,A.J.Eschelbach. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read. There being no errors or omissions Councilman Lloyd moved they be adopted as read. The motion ~as seconded by Couacilman Tibbetts and regularly carrie A communication was rece~.ved from ~oe Smeit asking for a transfer of the soft drink license of John Fischer~ ~o.hi~, Er, Fischer having sold the place to Smeit. Referred to the police commission. President E.P.Kauffmann of the Chamber of Con~erce , and on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce petitioned the council to piece a proposition on the ballot April 9th,next, to provide funds for the construction of concrete sign to be ~mown ~s the HILLSIDE SIGN, by general taxation. Councilman Lloyd introduced an ordinance favoring the project of advertising South San Francisco, the Industrial City, by such sign, and estimating the cost of the s~me to be $5000. The ordinance h~d its first reading and was laid ove~~ to come up ~der the regular order of business at the ne~t meeting of the City Council. A petition ~'~ received from numerous property owners and residents from l~'~aple to Spruce Avenue between the alleys of bloc~ ll7 ~nd llS, requesting that the council amend the zoning law to include such territory. ~ petition was also received fro~ m~ny property owners and residents on ~aple Avenue~a~ vicinity requesting the City Couvcil to amend the zoning law to include Eaple avenue for business from Eiller Avenue to the alley of block 126½. Attorney D~vis appeared for the petitioners, ~nd requested that a date for a public hearing be set by the council to give interested parties an opportunity to be heard on the subject. Action deferred until the next meeting. Consolidated Precinct "B", polling place, basement of the City Hall, officers, Inspector James E.Sullivan, Judge,Ann Perry, Clerks, Angelo Conziani and Annie Conrad· Consolidated Precinct "C" polling place, 218 Linden Avenue , · Officers, Inspector Rebecca E~y, Judge Andrew Sorenson, Clerks,Margaret Bisagno and Elizabeth 0ttenfiel{ Consolidated Votin? Precinct "D" pol~in~ place, Pala's Hall; officers, Louise Xlawe Inspector, Judge, Francis Garcia, C~erks George Roll and Fiorini Beltrami. The resolution w~s adopted by the unanimous vote of all the members of the City Council, to-wit;- Ayes, Councilmen, A.Hynding, R.Lloyd, M.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. Woodman for refund of weed tax, laid over from a previous neeting, were taken up for reconsideration. The motibn was seconded by Councilman Lloyd and regularly carried. There being no further business before the meeting Councilman Hynding moved to adjourn until 9 o'clock p.m. Monday, ~rch 5th,1928. This meeting was called to order at 9 o'clock p.m. by Councilman A.J.Esohelbach, ~ayor of South San ~rancisco. ROLL CALL. March~10th being the last day on which to designate voting precincts, polling places and select election officers for the coming April election, the ninth day of April 19~8, Councilman Minucciani introduced a resolution dividing the city into four consolidated election precincts, and nominating the officers for each precinct, as follows;- Consolidated voting precinct "A", polling place Brawl's Garage, Inspector,Caroline Holbrook, Judge,K~te A.Maynard, Clerks,Anita Flink and Alice M.Ycung, Consolidated Voting Precinct "B", Pollin Place, basement of the City Hall, officers, Inspector, James E.Sul~ivan, Judge Ann Perry, Clerks, Angelo Conziani and Annie Conrad. At,.est Approved Mayor of South San Francisco Suggestion was :mde that a proposition might be placed up:n the ballot to raise the salary of City Councilmen. Eothing definite was accomplished on the subject but it was ~mderstood the matter would be given consideration at the next meeting. There being no furthor business before the meeting Councilman Lloyd moved to adjourn until Mol evening, March 12th,1928, at 730 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by Councilman Minuccis~ui and regularly carried.
