SOUTH JAN F~ANCI~CO, P~ELD MONDAY.JULY 30,
1928.
A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the ~ity of South San Franci~co was
held in the Citj Hall Monday evening, July S0, 1928.
This meeting was called to order at 7;B0'o'clock~p.m. by councilman A.J.Eschelbach, Mayor
of South San Francisco·
ROLL CALL.
Roll Call found the following memb~rs of the council present,to-wit;-
Councilmen, A.Hynding,R.Lloyd, M.M~nucciant, A.J.Eschelbach.
Absent, Councilman, R.Tibbetts.
The n~.nutes of the previous meeting! were read. There being no errors or omis~ions Councilman
Lloyd moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Councilman ~iinucciani and regularly
carried·
The Rosebud Club of ~outh San Fra ~cisco made application for permission to hold a dance in
Fraternal Hall Saturda~ evening, August 4th,19£b. Permit granted.
A communication was receipted from the Pacific Coast Steel Company asking the city to esta~lis~
a forty foot roadway on their westerly bound~r~ line, Known as Industrial Way, instead of the presemt
sixt~' foot boundar road way. The company stratos their business is expanding and they need the
additional piece of roadway for spur tracks and facilities for shipping· Mayor Eschelbach stated
to the steel company's representative, Mr. 0ppenheim, the city would be pleased to confer with
a committee of the steel men Wednesday morning, August 1st, at l0 a.m, or earlier if required. This
arrangement was satisfactory to the steel co~.pany.
A communication and log were received from the Underwriters of the Pacific showing the test
run of the Seagrave Pumper No.l~?63. The log showed the engine fan.smoothly throughout the test.
Communication accepted and ordered placed on file.
Mrs. Carrie E.Winterhalter addressed a c~mmunication to the council asking postponment of actio~
on the Hillside sign project until a bond election is called for the construction of a swimming pool
and other projects, claiming action on thes had a prior right· The council was of the opinion the
Hillside sign proposition had the prior right on account of having been advanced early in the year
and nearly carried by a two-thirds vote. In accordance with the council's views Councilman Municciani
introduced an ordinance calling for an election by the people to ae¢ide on ~he proposition of adver-
tising the city of South San Francisco by a Hillside sign· The ordinance had its first reading and
was laid over to come up under tL~ regular or~cr of business at the next regular meeting of the Council,
Councilman Lloyd intrSduced a resolution ordering the wOrk'of closing up a,portion of~J0range,
Avenue in the City of South San Francisco. The resolution was adopted by the vote of all the members
of the city council present, to-wit;- Ayes, Councilmen, A.H~nding, H.Lloyd, M.Minucciani, A.J.Eschelb~
Noes, Councilmen, None. Absent, Councilman, H.Tibbetts. Attest,Daniel McSweeney, Cit~ Clerk·

Councilman Hyndlng then introduced a resolution ordering the conveyance of the portion of 0rang~
Avenue referred to to the South San Francisco Land and Improvement Company. The resolution was adopted
by the unanimous vote of all the members of the council present, to-wit;- Ayes, Councllmen,.A.Hynding,
R.Lloyd, N.Minucciani, A.J.Eschelbach. Noes, Councilmen, None. Absent, Councilman, R.Tibbetts.

Owing to the fact that considerable time would be required t~ make the totals not submitted
by the contractors the council decided to postnone awarding of the contract until the mex~ regular
meeting.
In the matter of appointing new ~ibrary Trustees for the vacancies action was deferred until
a future meeting.
The committee appointed to look into the matter of the application of certain property owners
and residents to extend the zoning district desired more time to report.
The application of the Fraternal Hall Liquidation Committee to hold a parade, dance and coneessi~
was granted provided local talent only is used in ~he concessions. ~
The petition of A,Mlrani to construct a pu~.pimg station on Linaen Avenue at ~819 was denied.
He was permitted to inst~lI a station on California Avenue, ~0 feet West of Linden Avenue, should
he so desire.
