The regular meeting of the Cit~' Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall, Monday evening, August 6th,l~Z8. The meeting was called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. by Councilman A.J.~schelbach, Mayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the council present, to-wit;- Councilman, A.Hynding, R.LLoyd, M.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions Council- man Lloyd moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by CouncilmanTibbetts and regularly carried. Application was made by the South San Francisco Fire Department for permission to hold a dance in Fraternal Hall Saturday evening, August ~5th,19£8, until i a.M. Permit granted. Notice was received from the Pacific ~as ~ Electric Company, stating a new and reduced street and highway lighting rate had been placed in effect by the company, ana the Cit~ of South San Francisco would save thereby the s~m of $159.1£ per annum, or could have installed five additional 250 candle power units if desired. ~.eferred to the street committee. The reports of the Chief of Police, Building Inspector,Municipal Judge, Fire CRier and City Clerk for the month ending July 31,were subu~itted and on motion regularly carried were accepted. ORDINANCE ~147. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE Lm~Y AND COL~CTI3N 0F A TAX D~RING THE FISCAL YEAR C0~ENCING ON THE FIRST DAY OF JULY, 19ES. AND ENDING ON THE THIRTIETH DAY OF JUNE, 1929,FOR The PURPOSES OF AD%~HTISING SOUTH SAN FnANCISC0 T~E INDUSTRIAL CITY" had its second reading and was regularly adopted as an ordinance of the Cit~ of South San Francisco by the following vote;- Ayes, Councilmen, A. Hynding, h. Lloyd, M.Minucciant, R.Tlbbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. Noes, Councilmen, None. Absent, Councilmen, None. Attest Daniel McSweene2 City Clerk Approved A.J. Eschelbach Mayor of South San Francisco Recorded in Book of Ordinances, Vol. 2, at page 18§. RESOLUTION CALLING ELECTION TO SUBMIT TO ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN ~RANCISCO ORDINANCE ~147. Councilman Hynding introduced a resolution of ~he City Council of'the, City of South San Francisco, calling a special election for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of South San Francisco Ordinance Nc.lA?, entitled "An Ordinance providing for the levy and collectioz of a tax during the fiscal year commencing on the first day of July, 1.~8 and ending on the Thirtieth day~ of June, 1929,for the purposes of advertising South San Francisco ~he Industrial City. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous..¥ote of the members of the City Council, to-wit-; Ayes, Counctlmen,A. Hynding, R.Lloyd,.M.Minucciani, R. Ttbbette, A.J.Eschelbach. Noes, None. Absent, Councilmen, None. Attest Daniel McSweene2 City Clerk. Recorded in Book of Resolutions, vol.2, at pages 213 to 21~. The zoning committee~s report was not yet ready for submission, to the council. The committee appointed on the question of reducing the width of Industrial Way asked for furthe~ time. Councilman Tibbette reported a light ordered placed at the corner of Lux and Spruce Avenues, a petition for which was filed With the council previously. E .R.Anthoney, Superintendent of the Southern Pacific Company appeared before the council and submitted plan s for the construction of a roadbed at the junction of Swift and Grand Avenues. The plans met with the approval of the council. D.J.Nyland, Mrs. Francis Garcia and Mfs. Ira Potter were appointed to vacancies on the Library Board of Trustees.
