SAN FRAN¢ISC0, H~D MONDAY, 0GTOBER 1ST,1928.
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San F~ancisco was held in the
City. Hall Monday evening October 1st, 1928.
The meeting was called to order at ?;301o'clock p.m. by Councilman A.J. Eschelbach, Mayor
of South'San Francisco·
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all members of the council present, to-wit;-
Councllmen;A.Hyndlng, R.Lloyd, M.Minucciani, A.J.Esohelbach. R.Tlbbetts.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions Councilman
Hynding moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Councilman Lloyd and regularly
carried.
A petition was fsubmitted~sign~d by~'a number of residents in block 94 asking for the installatl¢
of two lights l~ that block in the alley at Locust en* at OrAnge Avenue. Referred to the street commil
A petition was received from P.Uchellt and LuigiOastiglto,protesting against the propose~
improvement of certain properties on Oak Avenue unaer proceedings F6B. The protest was taken under
advisement by the city council and a meeting arranged for ~uesday moring October 2nd, 1~28 at
o'clock A.M., with the protestants.
A~ application for a soft drink license was received from A. Bertolucci, Liberty ~otel,
~421 ~ypress Avenue. Eefferred to the police commission.
The application of F.markeer for a soft drink license for the 5.P.Hotel, ~14 Grand Avenme, laid
over from a previous meeting, was next considered an. granted.
The reports of the Chief of Police, Building inspector and City ~Clerk f~rthe month ending
September 30 were submitted and on motion regularly carried were accepted.

Councilman Lloyd introduced a resolution :~:Vacatlng;Ees01ution of intention ~63 passed a~
adopted by the City Oouncil on the 17th day of September, 1928, The resolution was adopted by the
unanimous vote of all the members of the city council, to-w~t;-

was introduced by councilman Minucciani and adopted ~'~by the following vote;-

W.C.Whipple was appointed a city Police Officer in the place of Officer ~loyd Menzie,
on'six months leave of absence, at a salary of $150 per month.
Levio Raffaelli and William Cameron were appointed members of ~he fire department.
In the matter of the proposition to b~nd the city to construct a municipal ~wlmming
Pool, playground, auditorium, stsc, etc, City Attorney Coleberd stated the tentative agreement of
Edwards and Scharay, architects, was not suitable for the city's side of the case, and Mayor Eschelbach
announced nothing further would be done until the various civic organizations had submitted a report~
on plans end sl~ectftcattons.
Chief of Police Louis Bellone was granted .the sum of $§0 per month for the use of his
machine in the police department.
City attorney coleberd ~-as requested to secure sn easement or deed from the South
San Francisco~ Land Company for the Hillside Sign~ South San Francisco, The Industrial City. that work
may begin at oncNr. Franklyn , owner of land in block 145 appeared before the council and requested t~
sewers be constructed on ,~the east side of the San Bruno Highway for new industries. He was instructed
confer with the property ownwrs in the block, who may wish to construct private sewers under the
supervision of the City ~Engineer.
City Engineer Klassen submitted plans ~n~ specifications for the prposed Hillside Sign.
The following claims egainst the city were next presented for payment;-

cleaning streets

labor on streets
attending fires
removing dead dogs & cats

The motion was seconded b~ Councilman Mtnuccian~ ~nd regularly carried.
There being no further business Councilman Tibbetts moved to adjourn until the nem~t
regular m~,eting, Monday, October 1§th.1928, e~t ?;30 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by council
Hynding and regularly carried.
