The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall Monday evening, October 15th,1928. The meeting ~as called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. by councilm~n A.J.Eschelbach, Mayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the council present, to-wit;- Councilmen;-A.Hynding, R.Lloyd, M.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions Councilman Tibbetts moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by councilman Minucciani ~nd regularly carried. The Regena Elena Circle of the Druids made application for permission to holA a dance in ~raternal Hall Saturday evening, November 3rd,1925, to continue until 1 a.m. Permit granted. Notice was received from the Market Street Railway Company asking for the remittance of the sums of $1701.27 and $1011.89, stated to be due for l~bor, material, installation of wig wag, etc and crop, sing at Orange Avenue and Third Street. The clerk was instructed to notify the city Engineer to look up the data in the case and report back at the next meeting of the city council. A.Marani, 519 Linden Avenue, made application for permission to erect a gasoline station on California Avenue, 50 feet west of Linden Avenue. Permission granted, provided all conditions of the city ordinance are com~i~lied with. A communication was received from attorney J.Hampton Hoge, stating he was enclosing the s~m of $9~.51 in payment for the breakage of one electrolier by Thcs. N.Moyle. Communication and check accepted. Fire Chief Costa reported having attended the convention of fire chiefs at Sacramento. He stated the meeting was a great success, ~nd gained knowledge of many new innovations introduced in fire fighting. The Pacific Water Company replied to the city's request to make application for permission for the opening up of streets and alleys, and the replacement of the same, stating ~Lr.Enderlin would take c~re to follow the city ordinance in ~he future. Mayor Eschelbach asked superintendent Enderlin to request the water company to submit the necessary bond for faithful performance. An invitation was received from the Conference of Peninsula City Planning Commissions, inviting the cit~ officials to attend a meeting in Burlingame, October l?, to discuss the problem of annexing San ~ateo County to San Francisco. Communication ordered filed. A request was received from Albert C.Kleemeyer, District Superintendent of Schools, ~sking the city to ~,lace a white light at ~he corner of Grand & Magnolia Avenues for visibility and safety. Referred to the Fire Commission. The reports of the fire chief, school nurse,~nd municipal judge for the month ending September 30th,19£8 were read and accepted. Councilman Hynding suggested that a committee be appointed to to t~ke steps to confer with authorities with a view to developing and beautifying the city parks along progressive lines. ~yor Eschelbach appointed Councilm~n Hynding chairmanof the com~ittee. ~blic liability insurance on the Police Dodge Car was ordered caneelled and collision insurance issued instead. E.C.Peck and ~. Palmer appeazed before the council and advocated the placing of sewers in the front of the lots facing the San Bruno Road on the East side of the highway. It w~s agreed that the parties interested may construct ~,he sewers under ~he supervision of the City Engineer and Superintendent of streets. Several citizens from Peck's Lots appeared before the council and protested against the tearing up of sidewalks without permission, by the Telephone Company, ~nd the telephone company was ~lacing ?oles ~ithout permission. Mayor Eschelbach stated he would meet with a committee Tuesday morning and visit the district and confer with the telephone conpany on the subject.
