HELD MONDAY, MARCH LSTH',1929.
The regular meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the Cil
Hall Monday evening, March,18th,1929.
The meeting was called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. by councilman ~.J.Eschelbach, mayor of
South San Francisco.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all the members of the City Council present, to-wit;-
Councilmen, A.Hynding, R.Lloyd, N.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions councilman
Hynding moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Councilm~n Lloyd and regularly ca~
A petition signed by six gas service station men was submitted to the council requesting that
no more permits be granted for gas service stations or sidewalk pumps , on t e ground that the city
wellserviced at peesent. Petition laid over for consideration.
The application of Lee S.Gurley of the Fat Boy barbecue for permission to install a gasoline
and pump was laid over. , The E.Bendinelli Company asked for a reconsideration of their application
for permission to install a gasoline tank in fron~ of their place of business on Grand Avenue. Laid
over. John Yenturi asked permission to install a gasoline tank and pump in the sidewalh area in
of his garage, £07 Cypress Avenue. Laid over.
The Hanrahan Company asked for an extension of ninety da~s time in which to complete the
assessment and return.
A letter of t~anks was received from Principal Guy J.koney, complimenting the city councilmen
~n their spped in installing lights on Tamarack Avenue at the High School. Filed.
A communication was received from the Chamber of Commerce of San Leandro requesting the city
take part in a movement to form an organization of the municipalities and co~unitios of the bay reg~
to co-operate as a closer unit for the general benefit of the bay territory. The clerk was instru,
to reply stating the City of South San Francisco would send representatives when a call is issued.
Replies were received from the Chambers of Commerce of Oan Francisco, San ~ose,Eedwood City,
and the cities o~ San Carlos, Burlingame,~edwood City, and private ommer,s along the Bay Shore Highw~
endorsing the project of properly liEhting the oay Shore Highway and offering to len~ assistance in
acrrying out the problem. Communications ordered filed.

A resolution authorizing the Sayor of the City of South San Francisco to execute a petition
requesting the Boar~ of Bupervisors to institue proeeedings unaer the ~attoon Act for the construct~
of an outfall sewer to serve a Dortion of the City of South San Francisco in connectio~ with the
of San ~runo and Lomita Park was introaucea by Councilman Lloyd and mas unanimously adopted by the

A communication was addressed to the council from Councilman ~inucciani, requesting a leave of
absence of six months from the city in which to visit his old home in Italy,. nequest granted.
Engineer Klassen reported proceedings in connection With the wiaening of Swift Avenue prac~icall
complete. A communication was received from E.R.Anthone~, Superintendent of the South ern
Pacific Company inqUiring,as to t,he action taken by the market Street Hallway Company in the matt
of relocating their tranks on the south s~de of Swift Avenue. T~e clerk w~s instructed to write
~arket Street ~ailway Company as to when the tracks the tracks would be moved, and furnish of copy
the letter to ~ayor Eschelbach and ~he City Engineer o~~ South San Francisco.
Councilman ~ynding reported progress in the matter of the proposed wi~ening and lighting
Avenue, and requested more time.
