iiEGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH FnA~CISCO HELD MONDAY, APRIL l§TH,19£9. The regular meeting of the city council of the City of ~outh San Francisco was held in the ( Hall Nonday evening, April l§th,1929. The meeting was called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. b~ councilman A.O.Eschelbach, ~ayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following members of the council present, to-wit;- Councilmen, A.Hynding, R.Lloyd, E.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. Absent, Councllman,M.Minuccianl. The minu~es of the previous meeting were read, There being no errors or omissions Councilma~ Tibbetts moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by councilman Lloyd and regularly carried. A communication was received from the ~outh San Francisco Crave,~171, U.A.O.D, asking perm~ to celebrate its 24th anniversary Sunday April 21st,1929, at Fraternal, ~nd in the evening to hold · Grand Ball, dancing to continue from 8 to 12 o'clock p.m. Permit granted. The Manufacturers Association wrote the council asking an appointment with the members and 1 City Engineer to confer as to the extent of the area to be affected by the~proposed Industrial Way Drainage Canal,.and the probale costs of same. Also to discuss the widening of the pavement on hwiJ Avenue and the estimated cost of the same. ~'he council agreed to meet the Eanufacturers at l0 o' A.M. Friday monring, April 19th,1929 amd the clerk was instructed to so inform "j ~hem. A petition signed by fourteen property owners in Parkway Terrace wss submitze~ to the counci~ ing to lay an uDderground lightening system.and also a phone system all through the terrace. After considerable discussion~regarding the costs of the undertaking the matter was lai~ over until the z meeting. The South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce petibioned the council to install a system of Bra( lights on ~rand~Avenue to Leipsic, beginning at Spruce Aven~e. Laid over until a future meeting. Frank Conor, 209 Cypress Aven~e H~ade aKplication for permission to install a gasoline pu~p a? his place of business. Laid over for investigation. Fire Chie$ John Costa advised the council that an additional fire alarm box was required in Parkway Terrece~ He was instructed to proceed to install the same. No protest having been received against granting the Fat Boy ~arbecue permiasion to install ~ gasoline pump in the rear of their place of business Sam Sruno ~oad opposite ~aden Avenue permissi¢ was granted by the cit~ council. The monthly rePort of EuniCipal Judge Edward Farrell fo~ the month ending ~arch ~l, was read and accepted. This being the Gate set for the hearing of protests against the acceptance of the work done under proceedings ~60, the paving of a portion of Commercial Avenue, alle~s,etc, ~ayor Eschelbach ~ if there wer~ any persons present who wiS.hed to protest, or any written protesta against the same. Hearing none Councilmam Tibbetts introduced a re~olution confirming the assessment. The cit~ engineer was requested to essist the clerk in furnishing data connected with the project. Councilman ~ynding reported progress in the matter of the propo~Jed widening and lighting u Linden Avenue. The clerk was instructed to write the ~arket ~treet ~a~lway Com~ny and request them to re a gu~' wire from in front of the property of Er. Bianchi, ~10?0 Grand Ave~e Extension. B.J.Eodondi reported a telephone Dole snd wire obstructing the p~s£age of the alley in blo 83~ in the vicinity of Acasia. ~eferred to the street committee for investigation. E.A.Chelini, Service Garage and Eachine Ohop asked permission to ~ncrease his gasoline sup by an additional pump. Granted.
