CITY OF SOUTH~ SAN FRANCISCO,HELD
NONDAY, JUNE 3rd,1935.
The regular meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisco was held
in the city hall, Monday evening, June 3rd,19~5.
The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by Mayor Reese Lloyd.
ROLL CALL.
Roll cai1 found the following members of the council present, as £ollows;-
Councilmen, V.Boido,R.Lloyd, John F.Mager, M.Minucciani.
" Absent, R.Tibbetts.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions
they were approved as read.
A voucher in the sum of $206.23 was received from the Market Street Railway Compann~
being a percentage of the gross receipts of the South San Francisco Railroad and Power Company
under franchise for the year ending April 21st,1935. Accepted , and communication filed.
An invitation was received from the Mayor Of Santa Clara inviting the city official~
of South San Francisco to attend the meeting of the Peninsula League of ~unicipalities at
Santa Clara, Thursday evening June 6th,at 6;30 P.M. Mayor Lloyd stated about six official~
would attend and instructed the city clerk to so advise Nayor Concannon of Santa Clara.
The Pacific Gas & Electric Company reRuested permission to install and maintain
gas main in the westerly side of Division Street between Pine and Armour Avenues. Referred to
Councilman Tibbetts and the required permission granted.
A communication was received from CLARK'S GREATER SH0~S requesting a permit to exhit
their show in South San Francisco for one week,June 18th to2~ Inclusive. Laid over for one wee~
A.J.Eschelbach applied for a permit to operate a wholesale winery business at 20?
Linden Avenue, On motion by Councilman Mager seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly
carried the permit was granted.
Mayor Reese Lloyd received a communication from the Chairman of the Patriotic Parad~
Committee, Charles R.Blood, of Sacramento~ ~equesting him to invite all interested groups to
attend the Fourth of July celebration in Sacramento, for two days, staging an OLD FASHIONED Fo~
of July celebration. Cammunication accepted and placed on file.
Mayor Lloyd also received an invitation to attend ~yors' Day Celebration at the
Livermore Rodeo, June 8th,193~, together with his family. Communication accepted and placed
on file.
Mayor Lloyd received an invitation from the President of the San Diego County Divisi
of the Zeague o~ California Municipalities, requesting him to attend the opening Day of the
~alifornia Pacific Exposition, Wednesday, Nay 29th,19~, and to bring his official staff.

Condido Leon, secretary of the UNION ESPANOLA, requested'to hold a dance in Fraterns
Hall, Saturday evening, June 29th,1935. from 8 p.m. to I a.m. Permission granted, on motion
by Councilman Minucciani an~ seconded by Councilman Boido.
~'ire chief A.J,Welte submitted the name of L.Imprescia for appointment to the ~all
2crees of the Fire Department, to fill a vacancy. On motion by $ouncilmanMinucciani, seconds
by Councilman Mager, and regularly carried, ~ir. Imprescia was appointed to the vacancy.
The reports of the Chief of Police, City Judge, Health Officer,Fire Chief,Building
Inspector, and City Clerk for the month ending May 31,193B , were submitted and,on motion by
councilman Minucciani, seconded by Councilman Boido, were accepted. ~,~yor Lloyd thanked the
city officers for their p~omptness in attending to this duty.
George N.Mwssier submitted a statement showing collection of delinquent taxes of
$69.2~ for the month of May,
This being the date set for the opening of bids for making pavement re~airs on Grand
Avenue,Linden Avenue and Railroad Avenuel om motion by Co~mcilman ~inucciani, seconded by Counc
Boido and regularly carried the bids were ordered opened, The following bids were then opened,

On motion by Councilman Mager,seconded by Councilman Minucciani the awarding of the
contract was laid over for one week.
An ordinance entitled "AN 0RDINANCEAN3ZNDING ORDINANCE #160 OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SA
~NCISC0 ENTITLED "AN 0RDINANCEREGULATING THE NAINTENANCE AND 0PEt~TION OF DOG RACING TRACKS
THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND PROVIDING FOE THE LISCENSING OF THE SANE",passed and adopte
by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco on the Sth day of July,1932, was introdu
by councilman Eager, had its first reading and was laid over to come up under the regular order
of business at the next meeting o£ the City Council.
I~. Dave Ratto reported the street sinking and in a dangerous condition in front of
Belluwomini property in High School Park, and asked that re~airs be made. Engineer Elassen redo
~hat gas tax money could be spent only on main arteries. But Mayor Lloyd requested him to estim
~he cost of a £ill and report at the next meeting of the City Council.
Claims in the amount of $1323.16 were next presented to the council for payment;-

The application of B. Salzman at a previous meeting,to open a 5-10cts and $1.00
up Variety store at 22, Grand Avenue was granted on motion by Councilman ~ger,
seconded by Councilman Minucciani, and regularly carried.
There were no protests against the abatement of weeds.
In the matter of protection against Rice Hull Fires,investi2e. ted
by the council, ~yor Lloyd said no gate had yet been put on the premises ene guard
or watchman was in sight. Police Chief Belloni was instructed to locate the man in charge
of the industry.
There being no further business before the bo~rd Councilman ~inucciani
moved to adjourn until the 10th day of June,1935, Monday,at 8 o'clock p.m. The motion
w~s seconded by Councilman I~ger and regularly carried.
