CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO,HELD
MONDAY,FEBRUARY 3~1936.
The regular meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisc was held
in the city hall, Monday evening~ February 3rd,1936.
The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by Mayor Reese Lloyd.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all members of the.dcouncil present, as follows,-
Councilmen, V.Boido, R.Lloyd, J.F.Mager, M.Min~cciani, R.Tibbetts.
The minutes.-of the previous meetin~ were read. There being no errors or omissions
councilman Minucciani moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by councilman
libbetts and regularly carried.
A communication was received from the ~acific Gas and Electric Co, requesting the
city's permission to open trenches in the intersection of-Maple Avenue and Aspen Avenue and
Linden Avenue between Pine Avenue and Seventh Lane. ~Referred to Councilman Tibbetts and the
desired permission-granted.
An application for a position on the election board of the city election April 14
next was received from Mrs. Mary Edna Dinning. Application accepted and ordered placed on file
for future reference.
A communication was received from G.H.Thomson, of the South San Francisco sign Co.,
asking the cityts permission to operate a daylight'sign consisting of the words "ACNE FOR
QUALITY" or some such slogan, for which privilege the sign company would donate to the city an
additional display, sign following the words "SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO" by the word "FACTORY, "HOMESI
or other wording advertising South San Francisco. Laid over for consideration.
The city received a copy of the Division of Highways statement to Engineer Klassen
relating to the ¼ cent gas tax allocation to municipalities in the Fourth District. Copy~accept
and placed on file.
A communication From the California Pacific Title & Trust Company stated~they had
received a deed or-easement and right of way from the California Water Service Company to the
City of South San Francisco for canal purposes for the Colma and Baden Creeks, and would hold
same until certain~conditions were complied with, Accepted and pla~ed on file.
A comm~Anication was received stating Mt. ES.Moore of the California State Automobile
Association had written Mr. Coleberd regarding the payment of J.Garcia of~the sum of $3.V5 to
the City of South San Francisco for tax on his car. Mr. Garcia's car was taxed against his
property in this city, registered in the~Sity of South San Francisco and the official card
of registration issued to this city by the State Board of Equalization from Sacramento. Mr.
Coleberd will investigate the matter.
Receipt~was acknowledged by the Division of Highways, San Francisco~ of duplicate
copies of themap showing streets of major omportance in the City of South SanFrancisco .
Accepted. The monthly reports of the City Health Officer,City Judge, Chief of PoliceFire Chief
Building Inspector~and City Clerk for the month ending January 31,1936, were submitted and
accepted with the thanks or.Mayor Lloyd for the officers' promptness in attending to this duty.
The report of Health Officer McMills dwelt at length on the situation at the Mushroo
Farm, and suggested several ways of abating the nuisance there. His~report included opinions
of Dr.W.Dickie, E.T.Ross and the owner of the Mushroom Farm.~
An application was received from A.J,Eschelbach to make certain alterations in his
building 211 Linden Avenue at an estimated cost of $1~0. On motion by councilman Tibbetts,
seconded by councilman Minucciani and regularly carried the desired permission was granted.
Councilman Minucciani introduced an ordinance of the City of South San Francisco
entitled" ERDINANCE ND.

ANNUAL MEETING 0CTOBER,192~" ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 1~,1928. The ordinance had its first
reading and was laid over to come up under the regular order of business at the next meeting of
the city council.

"AN ORDINANCE REGUHATING THE SALE,INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF
APPLIANCES DESIGNATED T0 E~LOY NATURAL, MIXED OR MANUFACTURED GAS AS A FUEL MEDIU
AND HOUSE GAS PIPING IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN~HANCISC0: PROVIDING FOR THE
INSPECTION OF SAID APPLIANCES AND HOUSE GAS PIPING:PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
PERMITS FOR THE INSTALLATION AND FOR REPAIR OF SAID APPLIANCES AND HOUSE GAS PIPING
AND THE COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFOR: PROVIDING FOE THE LICENSING OF PERSONS ENGAGED
IN THE BUSINESS OF INSTALLING AND FOR REPAIRING SAID APPLIANCES AND HOUSE GAS PIPIN
PROVIDING FOR PENELTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. The ordinance had it
first reading and was laid ore, to come up under the regular order of business at the next

The claims having been ~ld~lt~d by the finance committee Councilman Tibbetts moved they
be paid. The motion was seconded b~ COuncilman Minucciani and regularly carried.
Under unfinished business the matter of the abatement of the Mushroom Farm Manure nuisance

permitted to continue under the present conditions. A representative of r. Di/Fillippe spoke for
him stating the place would be put in a sanitary condition at once. On motion by councilman Boido,
seconded by councilman Ninucc~ani and regularly carried Mr Di Fillippe was allowed until March 1,1936,
to remove all manure and other objectionable features causing the nuisance, and to place the
establishment in a sanitary condition.
Under the head of new business Hay Spangler, Secretary and Treasurer of the local Chzmber of
Commerce stated the chamber advocates the continuance of the efforts of the health committee to
eradicate disease~Dreeding centers,and to concentrate efforts to aecure~proper and lasting dosposal
of sewage in the City of South San Francisco, and called upon the City Council to make a study of the.
matter and take action regarding this most important of the city's present problems. Mayor Reese
Lloyd stated the matter will. be taken up at an early meeting of the council and engineers and others
qualified to act with the city.
There being no further business councilman Minucciani moved to adjourn until the next
regular meeting, Monday, February 17, 19Z~, at 8 o'clock,6;m. The motion was seconded by councilman
Tibbetts and regularly carried. ....
