REGULAR~ETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO,HELD
MONDAY,FEBRUARY
1V,1936
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Franctsc was held
held in the city hall, Monday evening, February 17th,1936.
The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by Mayor Reese Lloyd.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all members of the council present,as follows;-
Councilmen, V.Boido, R.Lloyd, J.F.~ager,M.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts.
The minutes of the two previous meetings were read. There being no errors or
omissions Councilman Tibbetts moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Minucciani and regularly carried.
An application for a restaurant license wes received from McLaughlin & Granger for
a location close to the San Francisco Airport, Moved by Councilman Boido,seconded by Council-
man Minucciani that the permit be ~ranted. Carried and the license ordered issued.
An application for a restaurant license was received from Mrs. Harder, 206 Lux
Avenue. On a~count of the location, etc,the matter was laid over till the next meeting.
A report from City Engineer Gee A.Kneese showed that the Oakland Sewe~Gon~tructi~n
Company had completed their contract to install au 18 inch diameter sanitary sewer in the South ~
industrial Area, and that the sum of $3369.18 was due them on first payment, leaving a balance
of ~1123.06 due them after 35 days from date. Accepted.
Engineer Klassen submitted a statement showing the cost of installing ~ macadam
sidewalk in Orange Avenue to be $21~4.22, of which the city's share was $5~1,~4. Accepted.
Nfs. henry Veit applied for a refund of $2.1~ over paid taxes on her automobile on
account of the State placing the age of the car as 193~,in ~rror, instead of 1924. On motion
by Councilman Ninucciani,seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried the refund was granted.
Pacific Gas & Electric Company made application for permission to open a trench in
Second Lane,West of ~aple Avenue. Rferred to Councilman Tibbetts and the ~esired permit
granted.
Sociedad Mutualista Nexicana "~0RELOS" requested permission to hold dances in Fraterna~
Hall, March 28, ~ay 2n, July 4th,September 12,1936,from 8 o'clock p.m. to 2 o'clock a.m, and
to hold Literary Exercises at the Grammar School Auditorium on May ~, and September
from ~;~0 p.m. to l0 o'clock p.m. On motion by Councilman Boido, seconded by councilman Tibbetts
and regularly carried the permits were granted.
A communication was received from the Edmund Parrott Chapter No.16,Disabled
American Veterans of the World War, inviting the ~ayor and Council to be present at their meet-
ing in Hoover Hall,Burlingame,February 21, in the interest of Highway Safety Driving. Eayor
Lloyd stated some of the city officials should go, and requested the clerk to reply stating one
or more would be in attendance.
Notice was received from Andrew Eynding stating the insurance company covering
certain classes of work, such as road paving,street paving,sewer cleaning, tree pruning,
garbage works,policem~n,firemen, ets, had reduced their rates to the city,which would result
in considerable saving. Communication accepted~ and placed on file.
Applications for positions on the April election board were received from Mt.Ambrosia
Cerri,Mrs. Francis Rinehart and Miss Josephine Casagrande. Applications ordered placed on file.
A communication was received from Assemblyman Cronin of San Francisco,stating that
the Legistative Con~nittees on constitutional amendments concerning the better control of liquor
would hold a meeting on the 20,February, and requested that this city send a representative.
The City Council decided to take no part in the matter.
Claims in the amount of $4016.97 were next presented to the council for payment;-

'~een audited bythe finance committee Councilman T~.bbetts moved they be paid.The motion was seconded by
Councilman Minucciani and regularly carried.
Under the head of unfinished business the matter of the application of O.H.Thomson
for the privilege of advertising on his sign in daytime was taken up and laid over for a
future meeting.
The request of the California State Automobile Association to city attorney Coleberd
for a favorable opinion on the application of J.Oarcia for a refund of taxes paid on his
automobile in this city was laid over till the next meeting.
The proposed ordinance amending ordinance No ~l,section ~l, to reduce penalties
on delinquent taxpayers was not ready.
There being no further business councilm~n Nager moved to adjourn until Monday
evening, February 24th,1936,at 8 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by councilman Boido
and regularly carried.
