REGULARLY ADJOURNED MEETINq- OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF T~:E CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD
FRIDAY, NAY 7TH, 1937.
A regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
was held in the City Hall Friday evening, May 7th, 1937.
This meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by Mayor D.W.Ratto.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found the following members of the council present;-
Councilmen, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, N.Minucciani,D.W.Ratto.
Absent, Councilman ff.F.Mager.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions they
were approved as read.
An application was received from Carl Sirvain & C.Di Deminico for a business license
under the name of Bayshore Motor Company, succeeding Service OaraTe & Machine Shop, S11 San Bruno
Road. On motion by ~ouncilman Boido,seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly carried
the permit was granted., license
Harry A.Cavassa applied for permission to move his ~rug store'from ~9 Grand Avenue to
803 Linden Avenue, the license beln~ paid till December Jl, l!~37. On motion by Councilman ~ ....
Eschelbach seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly carried permission was granted.
A statement was received from the South San Francisco Railroad & Power Company showing
the ~ross Receipts of the road from April 21,19Z8 to April 21,1937 to be,n~d~z ord~n~neos 88 amd
~ $9,882.28 of which there is due the city under the franchise the sum of $197.2~, and asked
the city's acceptance of the statement. On motion by Councilman Eschelbach seconded by Councilman
Mtnucciani and regularly carried the statement was accepted as submitted.
A telegraphic reply was received from the League of California Municipalities to the
city's inquiry as to their stand on Assembly Bill NO.2§2,~he proposal to levy the sum of
$~,000,000 by the State Legislature of ~alifornia for the purpose of financing a ~tate Exhibit
and California Building at the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco in 1939~
stating the league cannot take any postion on the bill, as they act only when a bill affects
all cities as such.
Councilman Minucciani introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco
favoring and endorsing Assembly Bill 2~2, as per the request of the Golden ~ate International
Exposition Authorities in San Francisco. The resolution was adopted by the votes of all the mem-
bers of the City Council present,as follows;-
Ayes, C'ouncilmen, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, ~.Minucciani, D.W.Ratto.,
Noes, Councilmen,None.

Request was made by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company for permission to install llO'
of 2" gas main in the southerly side of Third Lane ~from a poin~ 23' west of the East line of
Chestnut to a point 92' East of Chestnut. Referred to Councilman Eschelbach, and granted.
Under the head of unfinished business the matter of the request of the Italian-American
Citizens Club for permission to operate a Ferris Wheel,Merry-go-round and other concessions
during their celebration of the 20th anniversary of their organization in JulY,was taken up.
City attorney Coleberd quoted sections of the ordinance covering carnivals and circuses.
As the terms of the ordinances seemed unsatisfactory for lodges to operate under Councilman Boido
suggested that the ordinance be amended. City Attorney Coleberd stated he ~ouldi~ake~the~necessary
amemdments suggested by the council and have them ready for ~onday night's meeting. These
.amendments would permit of the ordinance being effective by June 17,1937. The Monte Christo
Society having an application in for permission to operate concessions during their celebration
