The rog~lar meeting of the City Couocil of the City of South San Francisco
was held~ Lond~y evening, August 2, 19~.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p. m. by Nayor D. W. Ratto
ROLL CALL
Roll call found the following members of the council present: Councilmen D.W.Ratto
M. Minucciani, Jo.Au F. Mager Absent, Counailmen Eschelbach snd Boido
Cm,mciLmen Mager was. elected c?erk pro tern in the absence of city clerk Daniel
McSweeney. The reading of the ~inutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with.
A comuunication was received for a permit to give a dance on October ~0,
by the Order of ?oresters. On motion made by Councilman Mager and moved and second~
by Councilman M!nucciani, the permit was granted.
a letter was received from R. G. Clifford pertaining to the drain culvert on
Mission Road. Nr. Klassen reported that the city had put in a 4-8 inch culvert acros~
~glsslon Road which is not sufficient in size. Nr. Klassen will report back at the
next meeting.
A oonvention bulletin was received from the League of California Mun~ ¢ip~litie:
in regard to reservations to be made for the convention in September. Mr. Mager
said a part of the board should attend for the betterment of the city.
The following reports were received from the different public departments
for the month of July: Building Inspector, Health Officer, Chief of Police, City
Judge and Chief of the Fire Department. On ~tion by CounciLman Minuceiani, Second-
ed by Councilman ~ager the reports were aco~0_ted and filed.
On motion regularly made and seconded C.har!es Schurk was appointed to the
call forces of the fife'department.
A resolution grsnting to Robert A. Hamilton a permit to operate a trailer
court was adopted by the city council by' vote a follows:

The claims having been m~dited by the finance committee Councilman Mager moved they
be paid. The motion was seconded by Councilmen ~inucciani and regularly carried·
~layor Ratto brought ~p tbs beach quest~on. He reported he has secured, the
services of the Research Laboratories to make a test of the water from different
sections of the bay, but ~as net as yet received their report. ~r. Klassen report-
ed that the cost of the field work would amount to'ap!~'roximately ~200.00 to ~300.00.
He was also inst~_cted by the council to furnish a contour ~ap as to the approx-
imate cost of moving the dirt and soil. Mr. Klassen brought up the sanitary
question and the ~ayor said a septic tank would solve the problem.~ He. suggested
that Mr. Klassen talk with the State Board of Health and report back as to their ideas
in the matter.
~ayor Ratto reported that the playgrounds at Linden Avenue and Peck's Lots
are ready to receive equipment.
Under New business the question of donating the building formerly used by
the W. P. A. to t~e Boy Scouts was discussed. The Boy Scouts are planning on spend-
ing (~V50.00 for the improvement of the building, but want the building for their eyre
use and for no other organization to use it. Mr. Coleberd suggested to go into the
details more thoroughly before acting on it.
On motion duly ~ade and seconded and regularly carried payment of the i;~V50.00
laim of GOrdon Rowe Company was refused.
~o Other business bsing presented, it was moved and seconded the .meeting
adjo~mn until Wednesday evening, August 4, 193V at V:00 o'clock p.m. The motion
re&~larly carried.
