FRANCISCO, HELD M0~DAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1938.
Regularl~ adjourned meeting of the cit~ council of the city of South San Francisco was
held in the city hall Monday evening, ovember 14, 1938.
The ~eeting was called to order at 7:30 o'clock p. m. by Nayor A. J. Eschelbach
Roll call found all members of the city council present as f~llows:
V. Boido, Rod Tibbetts, A. J. Eschelbach, D. W. Ratio, M. Minucciani.
The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with.
A communication was.received from E. Cortest regarding the blasting operations of the
Macco Construction Company to the extent that they are damaging his building~ asking the
city not to releaseCthe company of their bond until the damage is taken care of.
CounciLman Boido said that inasmuch as Mr. Cortesi appeared before the last meeting
the matter was taken care of. Mayor Es~helbach said the company would not be releas-
ed from their bonds until all damage is taken care of.
Communications were received from Marlo Regalia and Bendo Papini applying for the j9b
of pound master and from Francisco Cirillo for a job as pound master, street sweeper
or gardner's helper. The communications were ordered filed.
A request for refund of weed assessment of $7.50 was received from A. Colombani.

This being the date set for opening the bids for resurfacing Linden Avenue, Council-
man Boido moved they be opened. The motion was seconded by CounciLman Tibbetts and
regularly carried. The bids received were as follows:

City Attorney Colebe~d said the city has been served with a restraining order in the
matter of the Union Paving Company's balance due on the Linden Avenue improvement,
and for that reason he suggested the awarding of the bid be held over for one week.
Councilman Botdo asked Colebered if he talked with the Union Paving Company. He
said he had but no settlement could be made. On motion by CounciLman Tibbetts,
seconded b~ CouncilmanBoido and regularly carried the awarding of the contract was
laid over for oneweek. The Union Paving Company addressed a letter to the city
council advising them of the impracticability of resurfacing Linden Avenue in this
cold weather.
Councilman Tibbetts introduced a resolution of the city of South San Francisco to
pay the Knox-Hale Machinery Company $615.00, which sum includes the initial payment
of $500.00 and the sales tax of $115.00. The ~esolution was adopted by the votes
of all members of the council as follows:
Ayes, Councilmen V. Boido, Rod Tibbetts, M. Minucciani, D. W. Ratto, A. J. Eschelbach
Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen None

The claims having been audited by the~ finance committe, CounciLman Minucciani moved
they be paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried.
Under the head of unfinished business CounciLman Tibbetts asked that the bid for the
pumchase of a street ~ruck be held over for a week.
City Attorney Coleberd said he would have an answer next Monday on the Market Street
Railway car service.

Several boys appeared before the city council and objected to being kicked off the
baseball field. They said they were using the field to play football as they had
no other place to play. Councilman Tibbetts made an appointment with some of the
boys _t_o go over to Orange Avenue with a view of selecting a place to play football,
as the baseball diamond was being destroyed by using it as a football field.
There being-no further business befor~i the council, Councilman Minucciani moved
to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ratto and ~egularly carried.
