The regular meeting of the city council of t?e City of Sout~ San ~anc!sco was ~eld in
the city hall,~onday evenin?, Narch lTth,1941.
The meetin~ was called to order at 8 o'clock P.~U!. by ~v~ayor Oeor~e W.Holston.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all members of the council present,as follows;-
Councilmen, V.Boido;Oeorge W.Polston,Reese Lloyd,D.W.Ratto,Rod Tibbetts.
The minutes of the previous meeting- were read. There being~ no errors or omissions thel
were a~proved as read.
A communication was received from Dernard ~/~cCaffrey Post,No.355, recommendins that the
city request the Greyhound Bus Lines to install waitin~ rooms at Bayshore ~Ti~hway for the
convenience of commuters leaving South San Francisco. i'~ia¥or. ~'olston e×~]_ained that he ha,
consulted the ~,anager of the lines on the subject,and was unable to F, ec~Dre a coooerative
answer.from the manager... . The Cit~., Clerk, however, was .instructed to make the request in wri'
on the advice of councilman Lloyd.
A communieation was received from the committee on Fourth Of July f,e_~ebratiOn of Redwo(
C~ty,Cslifornia,requesting the City of South San ~.:r'ancisco to participate in the celebrat.~.o:
':o~,.~ providing a trophy for the oarade,which will be the main feature of the Third Annual

the appointment be confirmed. The motion was seconded by councilman Boido and regularly ca:
Frank H.Wirtz applied for a permit to 6perate a BOWLING ALLEY & LUNCH COUNTER at 423
Grand Avenue. Councilman Ratto moved the permit be granted.The motion wa~econded b~ncil

Chief of Police Belloni submitted the names of J.W.Monmonier, Edward F.Garland,0tto J.~
i Grover C.Null and John ~Harder as special police-watchmen at the Bethleham Steel
Corporation
~_~ and Edwin H.Garrett and JOhn A.Souza at the Western Pipe & Steel Company. Councilman Ra%to..mo~
that the appointments be confirmed. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularl
carried.
The monthly reports of City Treasurer Kauffmann and Librarian Edna Broner for the
: month ending February 28,2941 were submitted and on motion by councilman Ratto~seconded by
i Councilman Lloyd, and regularly carried, and accepted.
! A claim of $28~.87 for extras . '~ filed hy contractor Person was laid over for fUrth,
investigation. Mr. Person's claim for $$~06.$2 , final payment on his contract building an
addition to the library was also laid over for consideration.Willie Minucciani appeared befor,
council and stated he had a certain amount of money coming from Mr. Person as a sub-contracto~
this being the reason for the postponement in paying the final amount?
P°iombo Brothers submitted a bond in the amount of $150,000 in favo~ of the city on th,
grading contract. It appearing unsatisfactory to the city attorney he advised it be returned

aayor Holston appointed Joe Riccomi, Fred.J.Lautze, G.Carl Weller, E.Fourcans, and
Silvio Nteri members of the South San Francisco Housing Committee. The City Clerk was instru~
to write Langdon W.Post.Director, Region No.?,Federal Works Agency,V85 Market Street. San Fran.
0 Oalifornia, giving the names of the new committee, and also to advise Hal Dunleavy,manager,

The claims having been audited by the finance committee councilman Tibbetts moved they be
paid. The motion was seconded by.councilman Boido and regularly, carried.
There being no further business 'before the Board councilman Tibbetts moved to adjourn
until the next regular meeting, Monday, April ~th,1941,at 8 o'clock P.M. The motion was
