REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COU}~IL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD
MONDAY, April Zl, 1941.
The regula~ meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was
held ~_u the City Hall, Monday evening, April 21, 1941.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 o'clock p. m.. by Mayor Geo. W. Holston.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read.

There being no errors or omissions
A communication was rec~iveCfrom the Orange Pa~k Tennis Club asking that the'
burned out globes at the tennis cou~t be replace~ and that the grounds be repaired;
also ~nat the youngsters be prohibited from using the cou~t as a skating rink.
Councilman Tibbetts reported that the grounds were being put in order. The matter
of the coux~ being used as a skating rink was refer~ed to the police department for
action,
A communication was received from the Pacific Gas andElectric Company asking
pe~miesi%n tc extend their 4" gas main in Hillside Boulevardbetween Clarement on
F~anklin and their 2" gas main in Franklin Avenue and Belmont Avenue north of Hill-
side. The matter was referred ~o Cbuncilman Tibbetts for action.
A communication was received f~om the Peninsual Division League of California
Cities advising the council of the next meeting to be held Monday, April 28, 1541,
at the E1 Camino Golf Club. Nine city officials signi~ed the~intention of attendinge
A c~unbation was'roceived from the Manufacturers Assocation of South San
FTancisc~ regarding the improvemen~ of East Grand Avenue and asking the council to
set a date for a meeting. Wedr~sday, April 23, 1941, at noon was set to meet with
the interested parties.
The name of Pat Ryan was submitted by Chief of' Police Louis Belloni, as a watchman
at the Western Pipe and Steel Company. On motion by Councilman Tibbetts, seconded
by Councilman Boido the appointment was confirmed.
The monthly reports of the Health Officer and Librarian for the month of Max~h
were submitted. On motion duly made and carried the reports were accepted as read.
A c~w~unication was ~eceived from the South San F~ancisco Lam~ and Improvement Coo,
together with a map of the p~posed subdivision 1Fing between High School Pa~k and
Pax~_dise Valley. The city clerk was instructed to get in touch with Mr. Shaw and
arrange for a meeting with the council to discuss the matter.
RESOEUTION NO. 80~
Counci-lm*- Ratto introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco to
abate weeds in i~A1. The ~esolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members
of the council as follows: Ayes, Councilmen V. Boido, Ro~ Tibbetts, Geo. W. Holston,~
D. W. Ratto, Reese Lloyd Noes, Councilmen None. Absent, Councilmen None

The claims hawtng been audited by the finance committee Councilman Tibbetts moved they be paid.
The motion was seconded by Counci-lman Boido and regularly carried.
Under unfinished business Mayor Holston asked City attorney Coleberd for a repor~
on the exSsnsion of Eucalyptus Avenue. Mr. Coleberd advised he is not ready with a
report. Mayor Holston also asked the city attorney if the' Railroad Gompany, under the
law, could refuse to move the pipe over Orange Avenue. Mr. Coleberd said that the city
has superior rights in view of safety.
Under new. business Building Inspector Welte submitted plans of the Capital Company
for the erection~ of a reinforced concrete building on their property in Grand Avenue
at a cost of .$1~,000.00, also plans for a building to be constructed for Dr. Wald on
Grand Avenue. On motion by Councilman Ratto, seconded by Councilman Lloyd and Yegularly
carried the permits were granted.
Roy Borelli appeared before t~e city council regarding the construction of the
sidewalk in front of his property on Maple Avenue: He said that the sidewalk was already
constructed there, but about 15' fronting on his property and about 40' fronting bn
Mr. DeMarcni' s property has sunk. He said he would like to have the city repair his
15' and that Mr. DeMarcn's has'a contract whereby he will repair his portion. Victo~
Lonati talked in behalf of Mr. DeMarchi and said he did not know if his step-father had
~ contract to do this work or not, but felt the city should repair sw~,~.e. City Attorney
Coleberd advised that the city is not compelled to do this work. After dimcussion t~e
board advised Mr. Borelli to see if he could get Mr. DeMarchi to put in his share and
then come back to a meeting for fUrther consideration.
There being no fUrther business before tAe board, Councilman Tibbetts moved to adjourn
to Wednesday, April 23, 19Al, at 12.00 o'clock noon. The motion was seconded by Council-
man Boido and regularly carried.
