A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South San Franci~ was held in the city hall,~ilonday evening, ~ay 1~,1941. Thi.s meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.i'~. by ~ayor ~eorge W.Holston. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the council present, as follows;- Councilmen,V.Boido,George W.~olston,Reese Lloyd, D.W.Ratto,Rod Tibbetts. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. The principal business of the meeting was to receive bids for the purchase of 4000 cubic yards of crusher run rock for base pavement on East Grand Avenue. ~ouncilman Tibbetts moved that the bids be opened. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried. Five bids were submitted. The names and prices are as follows;- Chas. Hover , with stipulation that r~ck will be taken from local quarry adjacent to Bethleham Steel Corp, hardbrown shale rock, run through a grizzly with bars 6" aoart, ~0.58 per-cu,, ,, James S.Baker , red rock instead of crusher run rock, $1.00~ Rockaway Guarry, 6~0 Second Street,San Francisco ~l.~ ~ission Quarry Company, ~ ~$1.00 " " " South City Lumbe~ ~. Supply Company, delivered · ~.1~ " " " " " " " " F.0.B.Bunkers ~l.~ " " After discussion of the merets of the various rocks it was decided to lay over th awarding of the old till the next reticular meeting, on motion by ~ouncilman Lloyd, seconded by councilman Tibbetts and regularly carried. Referring to A~.16~6 ,an Assembly bill ,exempting license tax on vehieles "for hi~ Councilman Lloyd moved the council instruct the City Clerk to write Senator Parkman And Assemblyman~Call advising them that the city council is against the bill and urging thel to vote against it, and also, relating to Assembly Bill ~o. ~$75, which amends the Vehi Code to provide for the collection of fines for traffic violations cmrm~itted within a c~ (including arrests made by state highway patrolmen,)said collections to be paid into th~ ti:e city treasuary, that'Legislators use their best endeavors to pass the bill. Frank Drumm, representing the Steel Workers' organization, asked permission to us. a sound ~ruck in contacting workers at the steel plants. Referred to chief of police Belloni. 'I~ere being no further business before the board councilman Tibbetts moved to ad until the next regular meeting,~ionday, ~ay 19,1941,at 8 o'clock P.~i.
