Pursuant te call;- TUESDAY, JULY 29,19&1.
A special meeting ef the city council ef the City ef South San Francisco was held
in the City Hall T"aesday, July 29,1~41, ef which the following is a copy;-
The undersigned members ef the city council ef 'the City of South San Francisco
hereby call a special meeting of the city council ef said city te be held in the ~ouncil
Chamber in the City Hall on Tuesday, July 29,1941, at the hour ef 10;00 o'clock A.M., to
act upon the request ef J.S.Baker te be relieved from his obligation under the contract
between said J.S.Baker and said City ef South Sam Framcisco dated June 16,1941,for
furmishing Gray Shale Rock for the construction of a base course for paving Grand Avenue
in said city, and for the additional purpose ef acting upon a reselutie~ directing the
publication efa notice calling fer bids for furnishing crusher ~-an rock' for a base
course for paving en Grand Avenue in said ci$2; and we hereby waive notice of said meet-
i~g and consent te the transaction thereat of all such matters as may pertain to the
purpose for which said meeting is hereby called.

James S.Baker, co~tractor on furnishing reck fe~ base pavement en Grand Avenue~was en
Mr. Baker stated he had run into hard reck in the quarry, which could net be broken u]
by the rollers. Engineer Marshall said the reck were toe big for the rollers te smash, and
believed the city would have to use the crusher run. Mr. Baker stated he C~uld furnish
crusher x~m for $.89 a cubic yard. The councilmen decided te call for new bids, with
the high limit 89ca yard, and adjourned until Wednesday, .July 50,1941, at 10;;00 e'clock
A.M., en motion b2 councilman Tibbetts,seccnded by coUncilman Boido and regularly carried.
