The regular meeting of the city council of the City of South San Fmancisco, was held
in the City Hall, ~onday evening, June 15th,194M.
The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.M. by ~ayor D.W.Ratto.
ROLL CALL,
Roll call found th~ following named councilmen present,
Councilmen,V.Boido~George W.kolsto~, M.Einucciani,D.W.Ratto.
" Absent, Councilman Reese Lloyd.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions they
were approved as read.
Notice was received from the State Board of Equalization of the application of Albert
and Frank L.Russo,dba, for a wine bottling or package license at their place of business,301
303 Grand Avenue~ State Liquor Store. There were no objections by the city council .
William Simon applied for a business license for the Grand Hotel,?33 Baysho~e Highway.
License granted.
A communication was received from the Di~:iston of Highways,John H.Skeggs,District Engin
granting the cit)~ a stop and go signal at ~utler Avenue and ~ayshore Highway. Details will
taken care of at an adjourned meeting, Wednesday, June 17,194~ at V;30 o'clock P.M.
American ~omes submitted a communication relative to ~outhwood No.~, citing that it is
difficult to secure building materials for his work,and may not be able to complete the unit
until after the war, and wished to see t~'e city engineer on matters concerning construction
of the work. Accepted and filed.
Pacific ~as & Electric Company applied for permission to extend their two inch gas main
"B" Street,south of Second Street,~aden.Referred to councilman Minucc~ani.
Chief of Police Belloni submitted the following names of temporary policemen for cance
laction;- Albert E.Luna.Frank Rolla,Peter W.Keefer, Samuel T.Elmore,Charles W. Pool,Verne S
Henry L.Perry, John Wallwork, Charles W.~utler,and Willis J.Egann. The cancellations were
ordered accepted and filed. ~he following appointments were then submitted by chief of Pol
Bello~i for the Western Pipe ~ Steel Co,- Wayne EoBlackmore,Wiley D.Nugent,Kenneth A.Gieg,
John ~.Netka,Walter Kelly,Douglass Ward Petit,Vincent C.Cauley,Terry C.Smith,Carlos A.~onsal
Herman R.Ditner, Eugene Davis,R.C.Loverette,Harold C.Parker,Harry S.Ruder, and for the
~ethleham Steel Corporation,George Horton ForrestLloyd,H.HazzardHerbert.,D.Moore and Frank
Del Buono. Councilman ~iinucciani moved the appointments be confirmed. ~he motion was second
councilman Boido and regularly carried.
A petition signed by 19 persons asked tLe city c~LUncilmen what action was to be taken w
regard to construction ~f a'sidewalk' ~ on Hillside Boulevard in ~aradise Valley. City att
Coleberd stated tt~e contract would be ready'signing next day.
Pacific Gas & Electric Company submitted a statement showing the sum of $3,397.1~ due t
City of South San Francisco under franchise ordinances 14~ and 143 for the year ending ~ecem
31,1941, and ~,90~.1~ under franchise ordinance 196, for electricity for the year ending
December 31,194~. The sur~s of money having been received by the city clerk the statements we
accepted.
~he monthly reports of the recreation commission, -~aity treasurer, Librarian and plan
commission were received and accepted.

Francisco authorizin!~ the execution of an agreement for Mutual Police Aid with the County of
San ~ateo and certain cities. ~he resolut~on was adopted by the votes of all the members of
council present,as follows, Ayes, Councilmen, V.Boido,George W.Rolston. M.Minucciani,D.W.Rat

San Francisco authorizing the abandonment of nuisance caused by Oppenheimer Casing Company

Councilman Boi~o opposed the passage of the resolution authorizing the abandonment of
the nuisance caused by the Oppenheimer Casing Company for the reason their license'l~.mit wa
granted to June ~0, and the company's new building was nearly read~ to move into.
Mayor Ratto requested the clerk to send a bill to the Oppenheimer Casing Company for
repairs to their sewer.

Attorney Oliver, representing ~r. a~ ~rs, Portune, who wish to move a building from Bris
to a lot in Peck's subdivision, stated ~r. Fortune bought the lot next door and he considere
there should be no further obje~t~on to granting a permit to the owner to move his house on

~ayor Ratto reported that many city benc;'es, swings,and other park equipment have been
broken and shrubbery and plants tron up by vandals,and requested city employees to report a
such nuisances.
