ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the cot~ncil present, as follows,- Councilmen,V.Boid0,George W.Holston,Reese Lloyd,~.~inucciani,D.W.Rattoo The minutes of the two previous meetings were read. %here being no errors or omissions they were approved as read. Bank of America wanted to know if the city was ready to lift the stop-pay~'ent on Checks, Sb008,~o07~6,#,,SV$1,andq6690,~:tating they dj6 not pay checks over one year old without authori¢ It was decided to keep the ban on ~-~a paymen~until further notice. ~arket Street Railway company replied to the city's letter stating it was their intentiom to further raise the paCh from the end of L~rand ~..venue to their tracks before the winter rains set in. ~he company called the attention of the city to try and secure a right of way ~rom the owners of land adjoining, in orcler to broaden the roadway so that it could later be paved. Communication a..cepted and filed° ~lerrill W.Hubbard, 18bl---qgth Avenue,San ~¥ancisco,applied for a business license to operate a lunch and restaurant on butler Avenue and the S.P.Tracks. ~'ermit granted. Judge L.O.Hardy asked permission to leave the State of California for a period of two weeks, commencing: October 9,19&q. P¢~rmissio:: i.;ranted. Fire Chief Welte submitted the name of Chris Alvarez for appointn:ent to the Call ~'oroes of the fire department. Councilman holston moved the apr, ointment be confirmed.The motion was seconded by council~:an Boido and regularly carried. %he Division of ~ighways submitted a statement showing the amount expended 4~uring the z~iennium and the amount of balance on hand June S0,194~. Communication accepted and placed on file. A communication was received from the WAR PRODUCTION BOARD,Washington, D.C.through l~iaury i¥iaverick,Chief of Burea~_~ of Governmental Requirements, requesting information from the city's purchasing officer of certain particul~:, expenditures for 1941 and the probable or estimated fut~re~.exnenditures, keeping the ~ame down as far as possible to the absolute minimun require-' ments neaessary for the essential governmental activities of the city. Referred to the city clerk. The monthly reports of the Chief of ~olice,City Judge, ~ Fire Chief,Building _~.nspector,Poundkeeper,and City Clerk,for the month ending August,19~9, and the quarterly re~:~ort of the au~.itor to September b0,19~O,wer~ received and accepted.
