A regularl~ adjourn~ meetine of abe city~ council of the City of South Lan Prancisco
was held in t?e Cit~ Nell ,Thursday~evening.!uly 8th,l~C~$.
~his meetinR wes called to order at 7;S0 o'clock P.k. by' [¥1ayor D.~.Ratto.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call. found all memoers of the counci_i present,as follows;-
Councilmen,V.~oido,Oeor}~e 4.}iolston,Reese Lloyd, H.~.inucciani,D.W.katto.
The read!hi of tl{e minutes of the previous meeting wss dispensed with.
~ communication was received from tNe Penins~;la ~rancl of the L .... ....... ~ of oalzfornma· .... Ci%~es
stating that the next dinner meeting of the 0ranch would, be held in ~ertrand's 0akwood
l',liddelfield & ~¥illow Roads, , Palo Alto,on 0uly l~,le~S at 6;~8 o'clock P.N., and wished to k~
how many city officials of {his city wo,.ld attend. It w~s estimated tiat 10 of the city's
officers would make the trip,and the clerk wes instructed to so inform the secretary,Lillian
Lynch.
Councilman I','linucciani introduced a proposed ordinance re~.lating the use of trailers or
ceme cars in the C~ty of South San Francisco,which was ~iver a title reading' and will come up
~.efore the council at a future meeting.
P~ayor Ratto reported a man living in ~ trailer in the basement of a house on Pine Avenue
and requested the Chief of Police to see the ~ ealth officer and investi~jate t?e case.
D~scussion ~.'~,s had in re?'ard to !~k~ ~equest of Andrew Schmi{'t of tPe fire department for
a rsise in salary to ,i~o. eS per month. Councilman i~oido o"'.-',ected strenuously to individual
r~ises,~nd stated that if one ?ireman is entitled ~-o tl'e raise all the others are,end all empl¢
ecs as well. Conncilman ~inuccfan~ contended the raise is an adjustment, is merited and
the city needs to keep tl.e Nelp. Pireman Conziani steted the firemen as a body , have been
month short in a previous adjustment, and thgt should ~e ad.iusted also. Councilman Lloyd
stated l e believed in a general raise ~1! round for city employeees,after sdjustments.
Councilman },'~iinu?.ciani moved t}}gt ~'ndrew Sc_bmidt be reded to .~e8 per month and Dob zisago to
.~1~ per month, retroactive to Jul}~ 1,1i}~S. 'lhe motion was seconded by councilman Notston ~nd
regularly carried.
Councilman Lloyd asked the Cit,j Clerk to furnish a list of the salaries of all the city
workers. Councilman Lloyd reported the Western P~pe ~ Steel Company about to construct a
building along Luther Avenue for warehouse purposes,about 1000 feet long, and apparently flush
with the property line~, which would conjest traffic if attempts, were made to load and unload
freight on 3utler Avenue. A delegation of' the councilmen and fire chief Welte will visit the
elant and inseect the plans a~a speciOications.
There being no further business 0efore the .~oard,councilm8n kolston moved to adjourn
