The regular meeting of the city council of t~e City of South San ~¥ancisco was held in the City hall,~v!onday evenin~!i, karch o~0,1944. The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.~Vl. by ~ayor D.W.Ratto. ROLL CALL. Rollcall found all councilmen present,as follows;- Councilmen,V.Boido,George WoEolston,Reese Lloyd, I~.~!inucciani ~).W.Ratto TTo minutes of the. th~ree previous meetings were read. '±here being no errors or omissions they were adopted as read. A communics.~tion was received from i',ia.s Arline Wienke asking for a permit to engage in tie insurance business by passing advertising and circulars through the community. Councilman holston moved the permission be granted. ~i~he motion was seconded by councilman ~inucciani and regularl~ carried. ~equest w s made Oy Pacific 'l'elephone & ~elegraph Company i'or permission to excavate a trench 185 feet in the alley to install a vitrified ..clay conduit in fourth lane. Stee .... ~7orks.and Clifford Andrew Roeder st the t]am~.ond Aircraft works.Councilman Holston moved the appointments be confirmed without remuneration from t~e cit~..The motion was seconded by councilman Lloyd and regularly ~:arried. A communic~ation was received, from the State Humane Association of California stating that an inspection was made of the local pound premises in th~:~ city, and found that many ti~ings need correction.Amoung them tLat big do~ _ gs should be separated from small dogs, males from females, si sick ones from well dogs, more adequate sanitation and clenliness. Ail co~.~c~lmen agreed this should be done. Councilman I'~.linucciani will undertake to put the recommendations into force at once. '±he Division of iiighways notified the city that the>: have taken over title to lot 1V,Dlock 150,SoutL San Francisco,and asked ~he council to cancel the taxes on the same.Referred to city attorney Coleberd. ~ir.E.G.i'~,otsch.Ohief of Appeals ~ureau ,Depertment of Employment,Sacramento, asked permission to use one o.i' the upstairs chamber to try so~e cases. Permission granted. ~'he Librarian secretary submitted ti~ monthly report of tke transactions there for the month ending. February ~,,194~. Councilman ~;.]inucciani introduced a resolution of the citF council of the City of South San francisco a~ending the specification adopted i'~arch 14,1944,for the improveme~t of ~.~':AYt;AIR VILLAGE, by stating( that wherever the word "owner"is used in the specifications it means "City of South San Francisco". I¥[rs.hernan of Southwood appeared before the city council and reported tLat the bus service to her s~bdivision was unsatisfactory,that various prices were ckarged for tlc trip, buses do not run regularly,and some passengers were ~ c.l~ to walk if theF did not i'[ke the s~,:rvice.
