A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisco was
held in the City Hall ~a$$y$~eptember ~8th,1944.'
In the absence of mayor Holston Councilman Charles K.Elder was chosen ~ayor PrQtem,and
called the me~ting at order 7;40 o'clock P.M.
Roll Call.
Roll call found the following councilmen present;-
Councilmen,Victor Boido,Charles K.Elder,Ivan M.Hays,N.~inucciani.
Absent,Councilman,George W.Holston. Mayor Holston appeared after roll call an~ took the
chair~on arriving.
All councilmen ~aving been served with copies of the minutes of the previous meeting
~ayor Protem Elder asked if any councilmen noted any errors or omissions. Hearing no~e he
declared the ~inutes adopted as submitted.
A commuhication w~s received from Captain W.W.Schneider, Officer in C~.~arge of ffonstruction
at the U~S.Na~a~ ~ase at Personnel Depot, San Bruno, of the SANI~:AHY SEWER SYSTEM, in reply to ~1
the city's letter and resolution 946 granting permission to construct a s'ewer in
~ Tanforan Avenffe under ~certain conditions. He stated the Navy is not now desirous of lowerin~
the grade of the sewer at the crossing o£ th~ Pacific Tel & ~lel Company's cond~it,as called for in
conditio~ No 1, in resolution No.949, and requested~the city'Socooperation in the matter of the
construction a~d modifications. RE~OLUTION NO.9Sl.
Councilman Hays introduced a resolution of the city council of the City of South San
Francisco eliminating Paragraph 1,of Resolutfon No.949, adopted by th~ City Council of the City
of South San Francisco on the 18th day of September , 1944.
The resolution was adopted by the votes of all the city councilmen,as follows,-
Ayes,Cou~ncilmen,Victor Soido,Charles E.Elder,I van ~.Hays,Geroge W.Holstom,M.Mi~ucciani
hoes,Councilmen,None.
Absent,Councilmen,None . Attest' ~aniel McSweeney.

A commuMication was received from George ~.Stout,Li~uor ~dministrator for the State Board
of E~AX~$atl~imtating he had received thc city's second letter protesting the granting of an
on-sale beer ~icense to Rex G~eene at ~39 Grand Avenue. Le stated thecity might find it
advisable to ~ake another protest *on one of the grounds recognized ~.by the board,as 'outlined in
his previous letter, such as ~ POLICE PROBLEM. Councilman Minucciani moved the clerk be instructed
to telegraph gnd write the administrator that the city protests the issuing an on sale be~r.license
to Hex Greene at ~39 Orand Avenue.The motion was seconded by councilman Hays and regularly carried.
A communication was received from George W,NilliamS of Southwood, requesting the city to accept
the street work done in Southwood No.q,as the work has been completed there.
Enginee~ Larwood said the work is not done to his satisfaction. City attorney Coleberd stated
a bond for th~ work's completion would not be acceptable, that the work must be.compYeted.
Mt.Williams w~s willing to furnish a bond guaranteeing the satisfactory completion-of the work,
so that the city could advise the Federal Housing Administration in San Francisco that acceptance
has been madei ~o further action mas taken.
RESOLUTION NO. 959~OUTFALL SEWAGE PROJECT.
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SEWERS AND A PUMPING PLANT.
Councilman Boido introduced a resolution of the city council of the City of South ~an Francisco
providing for'the construction of sewers and a Pumping plant along the easterly side of San Bruno Road,
from the existing ~ighteen (18) inch outfall sewer at Colma Creek-to the existing eighteen (18)
inch outfall sewer,approximately 950 feet north of Tanforan Avenue,at &ts intersection with
with San hateo Avenue, a~d calling for bids on Wednesday,the llth day of October, 1944.
The resolution was adopted by the votes of all the members of the city council,as follows;-
'Ayes,Councilmen,V.Boido,Charles K.Elder, Ivan M.Hays,George W.Nolston,M,Minucciani.
Noes,Councilmen,None.

Mr. Rogers, purchasing and rightof way'agent for the State of California appeared before the e®m~e$
council and renewed a bid of'$3~ each for lots l, 2 and lV in Block "C",Peck's Subdivision of South
San Francisco. Councilman Minucciani repo~ted that Mr. Carey would pay ~lQO each for the lots.
Councilman Boido thought it.would better to sell them so as to get the property on a tax
paying basis.. As to_the amount of back taxes,~he-amem~$ against the three piece~ wa~ is

There being ~o furth~ business before the board councilman Hays ~oved to adjourn until Monday,
October 2md, 1944, at 8 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by councilman Boido and regularly carried.
