ROLL CALL, On r611 call all members of the city council answered tLe roll, as follows;- CGuncilmen,¥ictor ~oido, Charles K.Elder, Ivan ~ ~ ~, .lays, 2eorge W.}olston . I~[r. Coleberd objected to %ieir ~:~eginning until certain other arrange~ents are made with the bnited States Government. 'tkeir attorney wsS present, and asserted he had good evidence of the !;ederal [J-overnments arrangements to participate in the fanancial end of the bill. but I~[r. Coleberd contended otherwise, and he was supported in bis views by the councilmen of the city. i~urther evidence was not fortl coming from the attorney for Eaton , Smith, and t-:e departed from the city hall. After considerable discussion councilman Elder moved the raise be granted, as of June 1,1~45.Ihe motion was seconded by councilman Hays and regularly carried. 'Jilford Willeford, public accountants,%ulare, California, submitted a bid for doinfj the work auditing- for t!~e city. CommYnication ordered filed. Police Chief ~elloni submitted the names of Karl L.Audlidge,Aemon V.l¥]cSweeney,Larry Walker, ~olke T.De Paulis,~ames 'issen and ~lorence Elmer Wor~.en,for cancellation as guards, at the ~vlants... Councilman Elder moved the ne~es be accepted for cancellation. The motion was seconded by Council- man ['~(inucciani and regulsrl],' carried. A1.J.?~elte submitted t~:e names of ~homas Oalli and John i'asco to be appointed to the call forces of the fire de?artment. Councilman Hays moved the appointments be confirmed. James ?~icolupolos et mx, .~Giavannt 5.Bessone and ~brose a IVlary l'~cSweeney, were dseignated as tax free on lots in the Division of Lighways by the State of California. Referred to City Aztorney ~oleberd. The Federal Public Housing Authority of 760 i'.,_arket street,San Francisco, referred the publzc buildings, under Cal-4134, to be assessed at ...~398,788. As this figure was the portion adopted by the city council the assessor assured them tle figure was satisfactory, and wrote them to that affect. In a co~unicstion on the su~j. ect,Street Superintendent ~..orman H~nding requested the city authorities to promote },.ir. Frank Casagrande to t!e position of tetnz, orary driver on a monthly basis. i¥lr. Ordered filad. A communication was received from },~rs, Ethel Hernan, Southwood, California,apologizing to vhe city council for k, er address to ?Yr. ~iodo on his son~ attitude on the bij steeel sign in South San Francisco, a meeting ago. Ear apOloge was accepted. ~he Labor i:eral~ , an official newspaper, submitted a communication asking for a subscripvion to the paper for the next issue. Councilman Elder moved that the city contrioute the sum of ,~50,00 for the publication, t?e motion was seconded and regularly carried. [)ordon Rowe Company submitted a statement e. skin~ for an additional .~905 for the annual city audit of the clerk's and assessor's books ~nd the City Treasurer's book for the ~ear, ending June 30,1945. He was ordered to have them ready by August 1,th, 1945. ~ !~otice was received from the San ~.~ateo County Plannin?[[ Commission, statin~: that there will be a meeting ~::eld on the 1V th of I~,tay,at o.__ o'clock P.!.,-.,in their hall on the application for a use. permit of Peter Si. renson, of ~,edwood City,California. Communication ordered filed. A communication was received frorr' the Enterprise foundry Company, euologizing ~[r. '~Velte on the service rendered them by h~s de.artment on the evenin~:~ of April 6,1945, when their great fire took place. Communication filed. A communication was received from Charles T.Broug]ton,cit~,'s work engineer, from Hell ~ Pregnoff, on their investigation of the condition of the South San Prancisco Sign Company's sign, statin[ that, it is in bad shape, needs repair, ~nd produced evidence to tiat effect. ~he city clerk was insvructed to communicate with ttte Acme Brewery Company, tellin~ them of the conditions of the towers in the sign and advocatin8 them to take the matter up with t~e cit). at once to insure better safety to the residents of the city. Councilman liays brought up the subject of fire protection f~,r the city. tie a~:vised that no apparatus be sent out of town in future, on account of the rapidly yrowing sections in this community, which w~ll be be in need of fire protection as soon as they are built up. i_e will bring the matter up later, with the fire chief and members of the board. Mr. Belloni asked if there ?sd been an~ hog ranches inspections recently, i.te was told the?e bad been none. ~r. Schlaam volunteered the information that he had a meeting coming up with Firs~t Assistant District Attorney on the-subject, after which ,e could expect some service to begin. The cit~ clerk was instructed to write to Sacramento , California, and ask that a couple of Inspectors be sent down to this city to look over our ~og sewers, and etc. So ordered. There bein!~ no further business before the board councilman Lays moved to adjourn until ~onday, kay 14, 1[)45, at 7;30 o'clock P.~'i.
