A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the city hall Monday evening J~ne ll, 1945. The me,ting was-called to order at 7:30 o.clock p. m. by Mayor George W. Holston. Roll call found the following members of the council present, as follows: Councilmen Victor Boido, M. Minucciani, Charles K. Elder, George w. Holston Absent, Councilman Ivan M. Hays The City Clerk forwarded copies of the minutes of the meeting of June 4, 1945, to each me~ber of the City Council. Mayor Holston asked if there were any errors or Omissions. 'Councilman Elder said that the word Tanforan should have been used in- stead of Verandah in referring to the Health Officer's report on the condition of Tanforan Hotel; also instead of diseased sand at the Linden and Pine Avenue Play- ground referred to t~e Eealth Dep~rtment, it should read t~at Councilman Minucciani reported loose sand blowing around the playground and tnt matter was referred to ~he Engineer's office. .With the above changes, t~e minutes of the me~eting of June 4, 1945 stood approved as read~ Regarding the awarding of the contract for the construction of the sewer, ~.~r. Cole- berd suggested the city should wait until more news was received from the Navy be- fore making the award. The matter of dumping garden refuse at the city dump was discussed. City Attorney Coleberd was asked to make a check' of the ordinance with a view of amending same to allow residents of the city of South San Francisco to dump garden refuse only at the city dump without c~arge. City Attorney Coleberd brought up the matter of t~e condition of the sidewalks in the city, suggesting that a survey be made with a view of doing necessary repairs for safety. The matter was referred to Mark Lar~vood. Councilman Elder brought up the matter of renewing street names on the curbs. matter was referred to Mark Larwood for action. The City Attorney Coleberd suggested that a check be made of bonds carried by city officials as to amounts carried and whether or not all persons in the city employee who should be bonded are covered by sufficient bond. The City Clerk was instructed to make this survey. The matter of the paving of the alley between Baden and Commercial Avenues east of Linden Avenue was discussed. Councilman Minucciani said the theater people ask&d for permission to pave this alley for easy access to the theater parking lot, which would be used in the evenings only for theatergoers. Councilman Boido said the matter should be discussed with Mr. Immerman about th~ leaviug the parking~ lot open day and night for public parking and perhaps the city could pay about $500.00 towards the paving of the alley. Mr. Coleberd said the work should be dohe according to the city.~s plans and specifications if and when the work is done. No action was taken~ Councilman Boido said the bids for the sale of the city tr~ck should be opened. It was agreed, and on motion of Bouncilman Boid9, seconded by Councilman Elder and duly carried the City Clerk was instructed to open the bids. One bid was received from Santo Pascuzzi for $425.00. This bid was accepted pending the acceptance by resolution at the next meeting of the city council. The matter of the ownership slip for a Ford truck purchased some years ago from Fred Lautze was ~brougnt up. Mr. Coleberd said he would contact Mr. Lautze about the slip. Councilman Minucciani said he would like a little information before appearing at the meeting of the San Mateo County Planning Commission on the proposed Veteran's Memorial program. After discussion the City Council authorized Councilman Minucciani to agree to an outlay of up to $5000.00 for furnishi~ng the Memorial Building over the cost of the building. There appearing no further business~ before the board, Councilman Elder moved to adjourn until Monday evening, June 18, 1945. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried.
