CALL TO ORDER:
Mayor Geo. W. Holston called the meeting to order at 8:00
ot clock p. m.
MI~YUTES:
The reading of the minutes of the four previous meetings
was dispensed with.
C ORRESPONDENCE:
U. S. NAVY second payment on outfall sewer. Works Engineer
Broughton addressed a letter of the City Council advising
tnat a check payable to the City of South San Francisco and
City of San Bruno for $10,000. was received. On motion by
Councilman Minucciani, seconded by Councilman Boido and re-
gularly carried the cl~eck was accepted and the amount of
5000.00 was ordered paid to the City of San Bruno represent-
lng its share.
APP0iNT~E~S TO RECREATION C0~IISSI ON Acommunication was
received from the Recreation Commission adivising of the
election of A. Everett Mahlstedt, Chairman and Richard J.
Dolwig, Vice-Chairman to the recreation commissio~. Ordered
filed.
Dank of America Request from the Bank of American regarding
continuance or release of stop-payment on six checks. The
Clerk was requested to advise the bank to continue the stop
payment.
SOUTH CITY CAB COMPANY A commu~ication received from the
South Oity Cab Company, 210 Linden Avenue, for a permanent
permit to operate in South San Francisco. On motion by
Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly
carried the permit was granted.
~0RDON ROWE COMPANY
advising ~he City Council that cash of Clerk Clerk Daniel
McSweeney was reconciled as of February 25, 1946, and asked
that a claim for $6.V9 be drawn to the City Clerk's fund
for stamps. ~ On motion by Councilman Elder, seconded by
Councilman Minucciani and duly carried a check was ordered
drawn for this amouut.

BUSINESS LICENSES
Resignation of R. N. Murphy
Appointment of Chester Luchini and Lester Anderson
Chief of Police Belloni advised the Board that R. N. Murphy
has left the employee of the city and that Chester Luchini
was appointed to replace him on temporary appointment as of
March 1, 1946. On motion by Councilman Elder, seconded by
Councilman Boido and regularly carried the appointment was
confirmed. The City Clerk was instructed to notify the
Personnel Board of the appointment.
On motion by Councilman Boido, seconded by Councilman Elder
and regularly carried the appointment of Lester W. Anderson
as special police officer of the City of South San Francisco
as of March 4, 1.~46 was confirmed.
William J. Leis made application to conduct the business of
a Brkae Shop at 310 Linden Avenue. On motion by Councilman
minucciani, seconded by Co~uncilman Boido and regularly carrie~
the license was granted.
ON SAL~ BEER LICENSES Notification was received from the State Board' of Equalizatior~
of t~e transfer of an On Sale Beer licenses from Colombani,
Laricchia to Colo=~ani, Laricchia and Fleming of tt~e Orange
Tavern; change of address of on sale beer and wine license
of Trinidad Carrillo from 115 Grand Avenue to 223 Grand Ave.,
and the granting of an on sale beer license to Erancisco
Avila, Fraternal Hall, South San Francisco. Filed

in the rear of 240 Grand Avenue - approximate cost SG000.,
as per plans submitted to tne building inspector.
EDMUND B. McDONALD requested a permit to erect a building on
the W. ~ of Lot 21 Block 124, at an approximate cost of
$9000.00, as per plans submitted to the building inspector.
On motion by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido
and regularly carried t~ese two permits were granted, necessa~
building restrictions to be comp~ed with.
Western Pipe and Steel Company addressed a communication to
the City Council for a refund of taxes paid under Ord. ~231,
attaching a copy of their pay roll for the year 1045. Referre~
to City Attorney Coleberd.

~IONTHLY REPORTS: Monthly reports of the Chief of Police, City Judge,
Building Inspector, Fire Chief and Poundmaster for the
month of February, 1946, were submitted and approved as
read.

Construction of fence
Orange Avenue Park
Councilman Minucciani introduced a resolution of the City
of South San Fr6ncisco calling for bids for the const~uct-
ion of a fence in Orange Avenue Park. The resolution was
adopted by.~ the unanimous vote of all membem of the City
Council. ilecorded in Vol. 4 Book of Resolutions, pages

0~dinance No. 245 of. t~e City of South San Francisco call-
ing a special election to incu~ a bonded indebtedness of
$125,000. to pay for the construction of a police station
in tl~e City of. South San Francisco, had its first reading
and was laid over to come up again at the next regular meet-
lng for final reading.
NEW BUSINESS
SHERIFF'S POSSE Mark Lar~ood addressed the council regard-
ing the. possibility of the Sheriff,s Possee connecting a
road with Fairway Drive for access to their propertyadjoin-
lng Southwood No. 2, City Attorney Colebe~d advised that
the City could not prevent them.
CONTEMPLATED CONSTRUCTION
OF ROAD BY CITY OF SAN
BRUNO
Mark La~wood advised tt~e council that ti~e City of San B~uno
was eontemplating the construction of a road along the west
line to come into Linden Avenue at the Union 0il Station;
ti~at tl~e City of South Ban Francisco would have about 800'
to improve from Tanforan Aven~ to Linden Avenue; that the
City of San BE~no wguld like to kn~v how this city felt
about the improvement. Mr. Eschelbach addressed tl~e Council
and said the matter should be given study as the Railroad
Commission might close ti~e Linden Avenue crossing if it was
not used. After discussion t~e City Council were favor
able to the improvement.
PERMIT FOR SHETLAND PONY
RING
Mr. A. Hynding appeared before the Boa~d for a client who
would like to operate a Shetland Pony Ring and Electric
Swing on the 3&- acres South of Mulkey property. As this
property is not zoned for business Ma~orHolston adviSed him
to~ address a letter to the Planning Commission rega~xiing
the matter.
REZ0NING
Andrew Rocca advised tt~e Board that the'matter of re-zoning
E1 Camino Real was before the Planning Commission and asked
the City Council to meet with them on Wednesday evening for
this discussion. Mr. Rodondi was asked if Orange Avenue~ was
to be included in the re-zoning. Mayor Holston advised him
that Orange. Avenue was not bo be zoned for business.
Claims in the~ amount of $10,721.2~ were next presented to
tt~e Finance Committe for payment~ The claims having been
audited it was regularly moved, seconded and duly carried
t~at they be paid.

On motion by Councilman Minucciani, seconded by Councilman
Boido and regularly carried t~e City Council adjourned to
Tuesday evening, March 12, 1946, at 8:00 o'clock p. m.
