Present, councilmen Victor Boido, M. Minucciani, G. W. Holston Chas. K. Elder, G. A. Anderson Mayor Geo. W. Holston called the meeting to order at 8:00 o'clock pm. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. A'communication was received from tb~ South San Francisco Pla~ing Cormuission recommending to the City Council that the plans and drawings as submitted for the proposed Rough Riders building be approved and that a permit be granted. A number of Para~ise Valley residents were present to p~otest the rezoning of this area for light industryj Mr. E. P. Kauffmann spoke in favor of the re- zoning and suggested that the city council pass the resolution. He introddced Mr. Rotl~nan, President of the Rough Riders Company, who addressed the n~eeting. There was ~uch discussion for au against the rez~ing and Councilman ~finuccia~i said that it was decided to leave the matter to the new Board. Councilman Elder r.~oved that the board accept the plm~ning Cormnission's recommendations to grant the permit to~the Rough Riders Company. The motion was seconded by Councilman Anderson and regularly carried. Councilmen Minucciani ~and Boido declined to vote. The Planning Commission of South San Francisco in a communication advised the city council that after meeting with Paradise Valley residents the commission confirmed its previous recommendations that the city council rezone Linden Avenue and Junction of Hill- side Boulevard for lig~ht industry; also that the city would not extend the rezoning west on Hillside Boulevard unless recommended in the new rezoning plan under consideration by the city and planning consultants. No action w as taken. The Planning commission of South San ~2ancisco in a communication asked the city co~u~cll to take steps to have the manure pile on Hillside Boulevard removed. Referred to the Health Department. P. R. Blythe addressed a communication tothe city council, attach- ing thereto a map of Peck's Heights for its approval. On motion duly made and regularly carried the matter was referred to the Pt~nning Commission. Resignation of E. Cortesi from Housing Author- ity. Emilio Cortbsi, ~resented his regisnation as Co~missioner of the )tousing Authority of the 0ity of South San i~rancisco. On motion by Councilman ~inuccian~ seconded by Councilman Boido and re- gularly cgrried' the res~_gnation was accepted. Re-appointment On motion by Councilman Elder seconded by Councilman Ninucciani of G.Carl Weller and regularly carried the reapDoihtment of G. Dance Permit The Dnited S~eelworkers of ~erica, Local 1069, asked permission to hold a private~ dance i~ Fraternal Hall April 27, 1946. PG & E check on gas and electric fran- chise A statement was received from the P ~- & E Company enclosing checks in the amount of $4,829.91 aud $3,975.18 for its. gas and electric franchise for the year 1945. Accepted. A communication was received from Ralph ~,~acArthur, County Tax Collector asking for a starting price for sale of delinquent tide lands in South San Francisco. Rferred to the Plarming Commission. The International Brotherhood Electrical ~Yorkers Local Union No. addressed a con~.unication bo the city council explaining its en- deavor to establish a unifo?m policy with regard to its electric work in San }.{ateo County and sug~ested meeting with the council. the Clerk was instructed to advise the union of the Council meet- ing May 6, 1946. California State Chamber of Commerce advised the city council of the conference to be held April 17, 1946 at 2 p. m. in the PGE auditorium regarding dewage disposal. The Works Engineer and the ~.Iayor said they would attend. San ~ateo County Department of Public Health forwarded a co~.uni- cation from the State Board of Health regarding the disposal of raw sewage, The communication was ordered filed. The State Board of Equalization advised the board~of the issuance of an off sale beer and ~-ine licence to Sciandri Bros., ZS~ Grand Avenue. Councilman Boido introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco acceptlng the map of Elm Court, South San Francisco. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. Recorded. in Book of kesolutions Vol. 4 at page OLU O #lOS7 Re-Routing Freeway Co~mcilman Elder introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco that bhe city enter into an agreement with the Stste of California with regard to re-routing a part of the Bayshore Free?ay. The resolution was adopted by the unani~ous vote of al~ members of the city council. recorded in Book of Reso!~tions Vol ~ at page 45 RE8OL~£I ON #1088 Terminating lease with So. S.F~. Si~gn Councilman Anderson introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco for tbs termination of the lease between the Ci~ty of South San Fra~ciscc and the South San Francisco Sign Co. The resolution was adopted~ by the unanimous vote of all members 6f the City Council. Recorded in Book of Resolutions Vol ~ at page 46. Councilman Boido asked if the lens of time of Gouldner's sppoint as Veteran' s Advisor~y Counsel was set. After discussion it was agreed that no date should be set but that l-m serve at the pleasure of the Board.' Mr. ~Sct~werdtfeger appeared befor$ the meeting and asked about the closing of the south end of Fairway Drive. On motion duly made and regularly carried the city attorney was instructed to start proceedings to close this street. Mrs. Hernan appeared before the city council to discuss the progress made on the Stop and~Go Signal at E1 Camino and Orange Avenue. After discussion the Clerk was instructed to address another lett~,~ to the State Highway Co~ission about the installation of this signal.
