Mayor Geo. W. Holston called the meeting to order at 8:00 o'clock

The ~eading of t~ minutes of the previo~ meeti~ was dispensed
with.
Bendo Papini made application for a business license to conduct
a shoe shine parlor at 348 Grand Avenue, advising the Board that
he was a disabled war veteran. On motion duly made and regularly
carried the per~.it was granted without license fee.

RESOLUTION #1089
Accepting deed
from Johansen
Western Pipe and Steel Company filed a swo~n statement regarding
the n~nnber of employ~os employeed during 1945 and asked for a re-
fund of $92~.78 over paid under Ordinance No. 231. On ruction duly
made and regularly carried the refund was grauted.
Councilman Minucciani introduced a resolution of the City Council of
city of South San Francisco accepting a deed from J. A. and Hazel
E. Johansen. The resolution was adopted by members of the City Council
as follows: Ayes, Councilmen V. Boido, Geo. ~. ~Helston~ Chas. K.Elder
M. Minucciani Noes, Councilmen None, Absent, Councilmen G. A.

Councilman Elder introduced a resolution of the city council of the
city of South San Francisco requesting the City and County of San
Francisco to execute a deed to easement to th2 City of South San
Francisco for the purpose of constructing a public street. The
resolution was adopted by members of the city council as follows:
Ayes, Councilmen V. Boido, Geo. W. Holston, Chas. K. Elder, M.
Minucciani Noes, CounciLmen None Absent, Councilmen G.A.

ELECTION RETURNS
Councilman Elder moved that the election returns be canvassed.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly
carried.
On m tion by Councilman Minucciani seconded by Councilman Bo!do and
regularly carried the a~sentee ballots were ordered canvassed.
~Iayor Holston appointed Councilmen Elder, Minucciani and Boido to
~count and tally the ballots. ~-

A short recess was declared to complete the elections returns.
On reconvening Councilman M~nucciani introduced a resolution of the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco canvassing returns
and declaring the results of ~he special elect~ionh~ld April 9, 1946
Votes cast in favor of said proposition 1814
votes cast a~ainst said proposition 983
That the votes cast in favor of said proposition was less than
two-thirds of t~he whole number of votes cast, therefore said pro-
position was rejected. The resolution~vas adopted by members of
the city council as follows: Ayes, Councilmen V. Boido, G.V~.

the mnnber of employeos employeed during 1945 and asked for a re-

made and regularly carried the refund was grauted.

That tlie City~ounEi~f the City of South San Francisco here-
by declares that Leo' Ferko and Adolph sani were elected
members of the city council for the full term and Emilio Cortesi was elected
to s aid city council for t~e 'sho~t te~n; that Daniel Jpseph Hyland was elected
City Clerk for the short term. The resolution was adopted by members of the
'city council as follows: Ayes, CounciLmen V. Boido, Geo. W. Holston, Chas. K
Elder, M. I~inucciani~ Noes Councilme~ 'None Abserit, Councilmen G.A.Ander~

Thereupon City Clerk Elizabeth 0ttenfield swore in Leo Ferko and Adolph Sani
as Ci~ty Councilmen, full te~m, Emilio Cortesi, City Councilman short term and
Daniel ~Joseph Hyland City Clerk Short term.
Councilmen Boido and ~finucciani stepped out of their chairs and in doing, so
Councilman Boido addressed the meeting and thanked the public for the support
and co-ope~ration giTen him during the past 16 years he held the office of
Councilman and extended his best wishes to the new counci!r~en. Councilman
~J~inucciani thanked the public for their loyal support during his long term
of office, that he had served the comrmLuity to the best of his ability for
the past 18 years and that he did not choose to seek reelection at this time.
He wished the new board members ~success.
The new council members then took their seats and Daniel J. Hyland took over
as City Clerk. Ma~or Holston then called for nominations for I~ayor.
Councilman Sani moved to no~inate Councilman Ferko. The ~uotion was seceded
by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried. Mr-E. 'P~' 'Kauffmann addressed
the board and said that ~,~. Rooney of the Manufacturers Association ~ent
congratulations to the new board. ~ayor Ferko then took the ~layor' s scab.
He addressed the meeting briefly stating that he w~s for progress and that he
would work for tae betterment of the city. He said tt~ere were matters to
come before the city council that required study and entertained a motion to
adjour~ to Tuesday evening. Councilman Holston moved that the meeting adjourn
to Tuesday evening, April 23, 1946 at 8 o' clock p. m. The motion was second-
~d by Councilman Sani and regularly carried.
