Present, Councilmen G. W. Holston, Chas. K. Elder, Leo Ferko,
Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi.
Mayor Leo Ferko called the meeting to order at 8:00 o'clock P.~.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
Mr. T. Pretzer, on behalf of ~homas Hickey Post V.F.W., presented
Mayor Ferko~with a gavel.
Chas. T. Broug~ton, Works Engineer, addressed a communication to the
city council enclosing check for ~50.00 received from State of Calif-
ornia as a refund of deposit for street striping. On motion duly
made and regularly carried the~ refund was accepted.
Baber's Body Shop presented check for $875.00 as a bid on 194~ Buick
police car damaged April ~0th. On motion by Councilman Sani seconded
by Councilman Cortesi and. regularly carried check was accepted and
salvage ordered turned over to Baber.
Santo Crist~ Society addressed a communication to Mayor Leo Ferko in-
viting the councilmen to participate in parade on Sunday, May l~th.
On motion duly made and regularly carried the ~nvitation was accepted.
South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce addressed a communication to
the city council suggesting that all traffic violations in the city
limits cited by the Highway Patrol clear through the City Court. On
motion by Councilman Holston seconded by Councilman Cortesi and
regularly carried City Clerk was instructed to direct a communication
to Cap~. Cassell of he Highway Patrol asking that all traffic violations
clear through the City Court.
P. R. Blythe addressed a communication to the city council asking per-
mission to move buildings along Linden Ave. from Victory Ave. 0nqmotion
Sy Councilman Holston seconded by Councilman~Sani and regularly carried
permission was granted provided ~r. Blythe _guarantee there~uld be no
damage done to the city streets. Mr. Blythe was present and stated he
would repair any damage.
Personnel Board of ~outh San Francisco addressed a communication to the
city council asking that the council clarify the ordinance on rates of
pay for city employees, aame was laid over until such time as the
council members could meet with the Review Board.
The Southwood Men's Club addressed a communication to the city council
submitting the name of ~r. A. G. Lithgow for appointment as a member
of ~he Planning Commission.. On motion duly made and regularly carried
the application was filed for future reference.
Planning Commission addressed a communication to the city council
recommending that P. R. Blythe.be granted permission to extend Auto
Court to take in part of Lot 8 Pecks Subdivision. On motion of Council-
man Elder seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried recommend-
ation of Planning Commission was accepted and permission granted.
Planning Commission ~ddressed a communication to the city council de-
clining to recommend proposed subdivision in Pecks Heights as submitted
by ?. R. Blythe. On motion or. Councilman Elder seconded by Councilman
Holston and regularly carried recommendation of Planning Commission was
accepted and permission was declined.
Recreation Commission addressed a communication to the city council
~recommending that the~city council ask the City Engineer to make a survey
and prepare a map showing the exact location of park area in vicinity of
Martin Sch6ol ahd Hillside Drive. On motion dul~ made and regularly
carried this matter wa~ referred to the City Engineer.
Recreation Commission addressed a communication to the city council ask-
ing the council members presence at a meeting Wedmasday, Nay 8th, at
V:~ P.~. to discuss construction ofpropcsed recreational buildings. On
motion duly made and carried invitation was accepted.
Brentwood Co. addressed a communication to the city council asking that
plans and specifications be prepared for all street work in Brentwood
No. ~. On motion duly made and carried City Engineer was instructed to
prepare same.
REZONING:
A petition,signed by 10~ business men, requesting that the city proceed
with the rezoning of Linden Ave. and Hillside Blvd., was presented to
the City Council. L. C. Roland of Paradise Valley presented a petition
with 9~ signatures protesting the rezoning of this area.
On motion of Councilman Elder seconded by Councilman Sani and regularly
carried it was decided to proceed with the rezoning of Linden Ave. and
Hillside Blvd.

to Rezoning:
Councilman Elder introduced a Resolution of the City of
South San Francisco overruling protest to rezoning certain
Areas in the City of South San Francisco. The resolution
was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the
city council. Recorded in Volume 4 of Resolutions at

Councilman Elder introduced a Resolution of the City of
South San Francisco providing for the incurring of bonded
indebtedness of the City of South San Francisco in the sum
of $~10,000. to pay costs of certain i~provements in and
for said City of South San Francisco, authorized at a
special election held August 31, 1945, and providing for
the issuance of bonds evidencing such indebtedness. The
resolution was adopted by tt~ unanimous vote of all member~
of the city council. Recorded in Volume 4 of Resolutions
at Pages 64.65-66-67-68-69-70.

purchase of bonds.
Councilman Sani introduced a Resolution of the City of
South San Francisco calling for bids for the purchase of
municipal improvement bonds,~Series 1945. The resolution
was adopted by the unanimous vote of all me~bers of the
city council. Recorded in Volume 4 of Resolutions at
Page ~O-V1.

Vacating a portion
of Fairway Drive.
Councilman Cortesi introduced a Resolution of the City of
South San Francisco vacating a portion of Fairway Drive
in the City of South San Francisco. The resolution was
adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the city
Gouncil. Recorded in Volume ~ of Resolutions at Page

ORDINANCE NO. ~46
Amending Zoning
Ordinance No.l~V
Councilman Holston introduced a Resolution of the City of
South San Francisco approving map entitled "Brentwood
Subdivision No. 2 South San ~¥ancisco, covering Public
utilities easements and public thoroughfares. The
resolution was adopSed by the unanimous vote of all
members of the City Council. Recorded in Volume 4 of
Resolutions at Page 72.
Ordinance No. 246 of the City of South San Francisco,
amending zoning ordinance No. l~V and repealing 0rd~ance
No. llT, had its first reading and was laid over to come
up again at the next megular meeting for final reading.
Mayor ?erko sug~iested that the-Paradise Valley residents
appoint a committe of five to meet with the Planning
Commission and City Council at a future date.
City Attorney Coleberd suggested it might be well to have
an ordinance regulating the loads over the streets in
Southwood, Paradise Valley, Nayfair Village, etc. where
the streets are not built for heavy loads.
City Attorney stated the suit to abate the Hog Ranches 'is
to be tried in the Superior Court next week and he expecte~
favorable results.
On motion of Councilman Holston seconded by Councilman
Elder and regmlarly carried. City Clerk was instructed to
notify Sheriff's Posse that the city is opposed to any
improvements without the city council consent.
A number of Southwood residents present asked what was
being done about recreation grounds. After some discuss-
ion S~me, was laid over for the time being.

Councilman Cortesi reported streets were not properly
cleared by construction contractors. Referred to
building inspector. ~
On motion by Councilman Elder seconded by Councilman
Cortesi snd regularly carried the meeting adjourned to
Monday evening May 6, 1946, at 8 o'clock P.~'~.
