ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Geo. 9. Holston, Chas. K. Elder, Adolph Sani,
Emilio Cortesi.
Absent: Mayor Leo Ferke
On motion of councilman Sani, seconded by councilman Elder, and regularly
carried, councilman Holston acted as Mayor.
CALL. TO ORDER:. Acting Mayor Holston called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
EINb~i~ES: The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the~meeting of
May ~0th to all members of the city council ~ayor Holston asked if any
errors or omissions were noted. There being none minute's were approved
as submitted.
Reading of the minutes of meeting of May ~4th wa~ dispensed with.
OPENING OF BIDS Mayor Holston called for the opening of bids on the Improvements on
RANCHO BURI BURI Rancho BuriBuri. Bids were on the City Clerk's desk from the following

Chas. Harney, California Paving Co., Eaton & Smith, and Fay
Improvement Co.
During the reading of the bids L. C. Smith presented a bid at 8:14 p.m.
Representatives from the California Paving Co. and Charles Harney
objected to tb~ reading the the L. C. Smith bid. City Attorney Coleberd
recommended that same be opened and considered.
The bids aubmitted were as follows:

While' the Works ~ngineer Dept and City Attorney tabulated the bids
the council proceeded with o2her business.

Sunglow 0il Co. addressed a communication to the city council asking
permission to erect a complete lubricating oil refinery in South San
Francisco. On motion of councilman E&der, seconded bF' councilman Sani,
and regularly carried, this application was refereed to the Planning
Commission.
The Recreation Commission addressed a letter to the city council making
the following recommendations: Joseph A. Pless be employed as super-
intendent of recreation on a full time basis from June 15th to Sept. 1st,
1946 at a salary of ~900. per month and his car allowance be increased
to .i~10. per month for this period.
q. That the commission be allowed to employ six full time directors at
~l.00 per hour and. six ~ll time leaders or helpers at 85~ and V5~'~per
hour during the same period.
Councilman Elder moved, seconded by councilman Cortesi, that ~e re-
commendations of the Recreation Commission be accepted and t?~t the
comm~ission be allowed to follow-up on same. Motion was regularly carried

POLICE:
Chief of Police Belioni submitted tl~ names of John Bruce 0'Bryant and
Richard O. Stevenson as police officers at Western Pipe & Steel Co. to
act without pay from the City. On motion by councilman Sani, seconded
by councilman Elder, and regularly carried, the a?pointments were con-
firmed.

On the recommendation of the Engineers Dept. and City Attorney consider-
ation of bids on the Rancho Burl-Burl improvements was laid over until
the regular meeting of the city council June ~rd.
Councilman Elder moved, seconded by councilman Ssni, that the 0utfall
Sewer bids be opened. ~io~ion was regularly carried.
The following bids were presented and read:

Consideration of these bids was laid over until the regular meeting of
June ~rd.
Letter received from Gilbert D. Ferrell, District Attorney, expressing
appreciation for the assistance and cooperation of City Attorney Coleberd
in the case of the Progress Hog Ranch was read and ordered filed.
PETITION ~E Petition signed by ~0 property owners, Dr0teSttng against certain build-
Grand & i~agnoliaings being brought in from Tanforan and placed on property at Grand and
Buildings: Magnolia Aves. was presented. ~ank Pistoni wam present representing
the petitioners. The council members felt that both parties should be
heard, therefore the city clerk was instructed to advise ~r. Larson of
the protest and that same would be considered at ~e next meeting.
RESOLUTION ~1108: Councilman Sani introduced a resolution of ~e City of South San
Deed from So.S.~'.Prancisco accepting a deed from the South San Francisco Land & Improve-
Land & Imp. Co. ment Co. conveying ~o the City of South San Francisco an easement or
right of way for a street over land situate in Valley Park Subdivision
No. 1. ~he resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of the members

Approved:
Councilman Elder introduced a resolution of the city council correcting
certain minutes of the proceedings of the council September 6, 1945.
The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the
city council present. Recorded in Volume 4 of Book of Resolutions at
Page 83~84.
On motion of councilman Sani, sec?nded by Osuncilman Cortesi, and
regularly carried, the meeting adjourned to I'~r. onday, June .~, 1946 at
8:00 o'clock p.m.
