Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi
Mayor ~%rko called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous
meeting to all members of the City Council, M~yor Ferko asked if any
errors or omissions were noted. There being none the minutes were
approved as submitted.
CORRESPENDENCE:
Communication was received from the Division of Highways with reference
to Parcel of land in San Bruno Slough. MotiSn was duly~made~ seconded
and carried that same be referred to the Works Engineer.
COM~iUNICATION WAS RECEIVED from Mr. George R. Walker stating it was his
intention to start a night watch patrol service in South San Francisco
October 15th. On motion duly made, seconded and carried same was re-
ferred to the Chief of Police.
RESOLUTION #1145:
PARKING ~TERS:
Communication was received from the Duncan Meter Corp. asking for copy
of resolution adopting the Miller parking mettr. Councilman Elder
introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco to enter into
an agreement with the Duncan Meter Corporation leasing 266 Miller Multipl~
Coin Parking Meters. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote
of all members of the council.
TECHNICAL
FISHERIES CO.:
The Techinical Fisheries Co. addressed a letter to Nr. J. E. Estes,
Works Engineer, advising they planned to build a plant in South San
Francisco and asked that grade of North Canal St. be established. As
this was not a dedicated street motion was duly made, seconded and re-
gularly carried that the Works Engineer be authorized to contact the
necessary parties with a view to dedicating North Canal St.
Communication was received from Peninsula Division, League of California
Cities, advising that meeting would be held Thursday, Oct. 19th, at the
~hitcomb Hotel. Smme was filed for the present.
Communication was received from the Red Arrow Auto Court commending the
firemen for their efficient work in extinguishing fire in the laundry
room of the Auto Court. Same was referred to the Fire Chief.
BUSINESS LICENSES:
The following applications for licenses were received:
George Molinari - Cocktail lounge 303 Grand Ave.
A. J. Gray, 321 Pine Aye. - Fruit & Vegetable peddler
On motion duly made, seconded and carried these licenses were granted.
SPECIAL OFFICERS:
Chief of Police Belloni submitted the names of Henry N. Stokes and
Arthur Lloyd Miller for appointment as police officers at the Western
Pipe & Steel Co. Motion was duly made, seconded and regularly carried
that the appointments be approved, the men to serve without remuneration
from the city.
Chief of Police Belloni addressed a communication to the city council
requesting the cancellation of appointment of the following Special
Officers:
Joseph E. Garbett, S. W. Bryant, Benjamin F. Thomas, Herbert Koenig,
Vaughn H. Burkenhoff, Linwood D. Blair, Dale F. Patterson, Fred Harder
Bertrand Milton Herring, Fabian F. Mojica
On motion duly made, seconded and carried these appointments were can-
celled.
$18,000. AGREE-
MENT:
Division of Highways, State of California, submitted a Memorandum of
Agreement, in triplicate, providing for the expenditure of ~18,000.
from the 1/4~ gas tax fund. As this ~atter had not been settled with
the Southern Pacific Co. and the various industries, signing of the
Agreement was held up for the time bei~.mg.
State Board of Equalization addressed a communica~ion to the city with
reference to Burl-Burl annexation map. Same was referred to the City
Attorney.
City Clerk was instructed to write to the CapitalCo. advising that the
City Council witll give every assistance possible, outside of financial
support, to Mr. Lodato.
PIOMBO BROS.
BLASTING:
As Piombo Bros. had submitted the necessary insurance policy to cover
blasting operations councilman Elder moved that they be given p~mission
to blast until April l, 194~. Councilman Sant seconded the motion and
same was regularly carried.
Gordon Rowe, Audl2or, advised~e City Clerk that he would out soon to
make a quarterly audit of the books. As this seemed an unnecessary ex-
penditure it was suggested that the Job be abolished. The matter was
referred to the City Attorney.
Mr. Peck, of the Works Engineer office, presented certified copies of
deeds covering dedication of land near Growers Rice Milling Co. Same
were filed with the City Clerk

FIRE CHIEF
CONVENTION:
ADJOURNMENT TO
OCTOBER Vth:
Fire Chief Welte addressed the City Council requesting permission to
attend the Fire Chief's conventiOn at Long Beach, Oct 27th to 30th, with
expenses to be paid by City. Councilman Elder moved, seconded by council-
man Sant, that permission be granted. Motion was regularly carried.
On motion of councilmanSani, seconded by councilman Elder, and regularly
carried, the meeting was adjourned to Monday, October 7, 1946 at 8:00 p.m.
