ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 19&7
Council Chambers, City Hall.
4:00 p~m.
Present: Councilmen G. W. Holston, Chas. K. Elder, Leo Ferko, Adolph Sani, Emilio
Cortesi.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ferko at &:O0 p.m.
Reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with.
Communication was received by Mayor Ferko from th% Housing and Home Finance Agency Public
Housing Administration advising that the Navy had requested a transfer of Jurisdiction of
Cape Esperance from the Public Housing Administration to the Navy. Motion was duly made,
seconded and carried that the City protest any change in the Jurisdiction of Cape Esperance.
The Clerk was instructed~to.~advise the Housing Authority accordingly.
Two telegrams were received by ~ayor Ferko from Congressman Jack Anderson with reference
to the Belair property. Nr. Anderson advised that J. E. McCormack, head of the Appraisal
Division, would be in California Thursday and suggested that the Council members meet with
him. Mr. Peck, of the ?~orks Engineer Department was instructed to contact the San Francisco
Regional Office and arrange a meeting.
Communication was received from the Personnel Board advising that the following candidates
had passed the examination for firemen.
Densmore Davis - final score - 93.07%
Lawrence Dini - final score - 78%
Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that this communication Be accepted.
Fire Chief Welte stated he was in need of men at the present time and recommended the
appointment of Densmore Davis to the Fire Department. Notion was duly made, seconded and
carried that DenSmore Davis be appointed to the Fire Department as of January l, 19A8 and that
the Bersonnel Board be so notified.
Councilman Elder introduced a resolution providing for the p~chase of one American LaFrance
Aerial and one American LaFrance Spartan and authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to sign
contract coveringssme. This resolution was ~adopted by the unanimous vote of all membem of
the City Council,
Councilman Holston introduced a resolution fixing the salary of the City Clerk at $300 per
month effective December 17, 19~7. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all
members of the City Council. ~
Conncilman Sani introduced a resolution fixing the salary of the Deputy Tax Collector at $100
per month effective December 17, 19~7. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of
all members of the City Council.
Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution fixing the salaries of city employees effective
January 1st, 19~8. This resolution was adoptad by the unanimous vote of all members of the
City Council.
Building Inspector Rozzi brought up the matter of set-back in High School Park Terrace.
After some discussion motion was duly made, seconded and carried thsSthe question of set-back
in High School Park Terrace be left to the discretion of the Building Inspector until the
new zoning ordinance is effective.

PARKING LOT: Attorney Coleberd advised that he had given signed contract to Mr. Immermsn and as far
as the City was concerned the contract was in effect December 17; 19h7.
BUSINESS MEN'S Mr. Dolwig addressed the council on behalf of the Business Men's Association requesting
ASSOCIATION: the loan of lumber used at the Armistice Day ceremonies. Motion was duly made, seconded
and carried that the Business Men's Association be allowed the use of lumber for their
Christmas celebration platform.
ADJOURNMENT: On motion of Gouncilman Sani, seconded by Councilman Holston and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to Monday January 5, 19d8 at 8:00 p.m. ·
