The meeting was called to order at & p. m.
Reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with.
OHANC~E AVE. CULVERT:
The matter of correcting the hazardous condition on West Orange Avenue was again
brought up. Councilman Sani moved, seconded by Councilman Boido that Councilman
Cortesi be authorized to proceed with the work of lowering the top of the culvert
on Sest Orange Avenue. This motion was regularly carried.
Communication was received'from B. Miles Thomas, General Contractor, submitting offer
of $2395.00 for the removal of the top of the culveEt on West Orange Avenue. T~is
comsmnication was ordered filed.
S. F. WATER DEPT. -
~ES0~UTION NO. 13&3
Communication was received from the City and County of San Francisco requesting permit
to install pipe line across Southwood Drive. Councilman Corteai introduced a resolution
granting pe~aission to the City and County cf San Francisco to construct and maintain
a water pipe line across $outhwood Drive. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous
vote of all members of the City Council.

AVALON PARK:
Police Officer William L. Ridenour submitted J~is resignation from the Police Department
effective May 1, 19~8. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the resignation
of Officer Ridenour be accepted.
Communication was received from the Works Engineer suggesting that the Council authorize
a letter be written to the Housing Authority requesting permission to depress the curb
for ~0 feet on South Maple Avenue at the intersection of Victory Avenue. Motion was
.duly made, seconded and carried that the City Clerk write the Housing Authority asking
permission to depress the curb on South Maple Avenue.
WOrks Engineer submitted for a~pr~val a tentative map of Avalon Park Subdivision. Same
was referred to the Planning Commission.
MONSON BROS. CLAIM:
Monson Bros. submitted a claim for $1~,676.07 covering work completed on the new fire
building. As Architect Rowe approved the claim, motion was duly made, seconded and
carried that same be paid.
FIRE SITE SEWER:
The matter of repairing damage to the grade and pipes of the sewer at the Central Fire
Station was brought up. Architect Rowe was of the opinion this matter should be taken
care of by Monson Bros. It was decided to hold Moneon Bros. responsible for any
damage to the se~er.
INS~ETION - FIREHOUSE:
The matter of inspection of the work on the new fire building was brought up. Architect
Rowe stated he would be around the building off and on to see that everything was in
order and he wou~d arrange with the Fire Chief and Building Inspector when he was net
pre sent.
ORDINANCE NO. 80 -
CESSPOOL:
As Ordinance No. 80, referring to sewer connections in the City, was a little antiquated
the City Attorney was asked to check into same with the thought of revising this
Ordinance.
AVALO~ PARK- ZONI2~:
Mayor Ferko suggested it would be well to change the zoning in the Avalon Tract from
R-A to R-1. Councilman Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Sa~ that this matter be
referred to the Planning Commission. This motion was regularly carried.
GROUND BREAKING -
RECREATION:
WORK~ ENGINEER -
RANDLETT:
As the Contractor was ready to go ahead with t he construction of the Recreation Buildings,
it was suggested by Councilman Elder that ground breaking ceremonies be held at Orange
Avenue Memorial Park ~ursday morning. He stated he would contact the Recreation
Co~aission with this thought in mind.
As the temporary appointment of Frank Davis as Works Engineer would expire May 15th
the appointment of a Works Engineer was in order. Application submitted by Charles E.
Randlett was read. After some discussion, Councilman SaniA~oved, seconded by Council-
,~ Cortesi that Charles E. Randlett be' employed as Works ~gineer on a part time basis.
Mr. Randlett was present and stated he would maintain an office in the City Hall.
Counci]m~n Boido asked for a roll call on the motion with the following results.' Ayes,
Councilmen Ferko, Sani and Cortesi; Noes, Councilmen Boido and Elder. The motion was
carried. Councilmen Boido amd E~er stated they voted no as they were in favor of a full
time engineer. Mr. Randlett's appointment as Works Engineer to be effective from May 15t~.
AVALON TRACT - STREETS..
As the people in Avalon Tract were anxious ~o have the streets improved, the Works
Engineer was instructed to furnish Attorney Coleberd with a description of the area to
be dedicated as a public highway.
On motion of Councilman Sant, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried, the.
meeting was adjourned to Monday, May 17, 1928 at 8:00. p.m.
