· The meeting .was called .to orde~ b, Mayor Ferko at 7:15 p.m.
The City Clerk having~forwarded copy of the minutes of the meetings of June 6th and
13th to all members of the City Council, Mayor Ferko asked if any errors or omissions
were noted. There being none the ~minutes were approved as submitted.
STERLING TERRACE
NO. 3 - MAP:
Communication was rece'.ved from the Planning Commission advising that tentative map
for Sterling Terrace No. 3 had been acceoted ~ith the proviso of 20 feet for a future
street. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the recommendation of the
Planning Commission be acce ~ed.
FRANC ISC 0 TERF~CE
RE-SUBDI VI SION:
Communication was received from the Planning Commission denying application of the
Atlas Realty Co. for a re-subdivision of lots 1 to ~ block 1 Francisco Terrace.
This matter was laid over.
NAMING HE~LOCK AVE.
Communication was received .f~om the Planning Commission recommending the renaming
of Maple Avenue from the intersection of Spruce Avenue to its westerly terminus and
Buckeye Avenue in Sterling Terracs, to Hemlock Avenue. ~otion was duly made, seconded
and carried that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted. The City
Attorney was instructed to draw up the necessary resolution.
PLANNING COMMISSION
SUBDIVISI~ ORDINANCE:
Communication was received from the Planning Commission requesting authorization to
draw up a Subdivision Ordinance. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the
Planning Commission be given authority to draw up a Subdivision Ordinance.
SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER Communication was received from Chief of Police Belloni requesting cancellation of the
MCPHERSON: appointment of George S. McPherson, Special Officer at the Hillside Boulevard school
crossing. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the appointment of Special
Officer George S. McPherson be cancelled as recommended by the Chief of Police.
~RKS ENGINEER -
LEAVE:
Works Engineer Randlett requested permission to leave the State between July 5th and
19th, 19~9. Motion was dulymade, seconded and carried that request of Works Engineer
Randlett to leave the State for two weeks be granted.
BUILDING CONFERENCE
~ETING:
Communication was received from the Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference advising
that the Building Inspector be instructed to attend the Annual Business Meeting of the
Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference to be held in Seattle, Washington, September
20-23. This matter was laid over.
PEATO EDUCATIONAL
SOCIETY - DANCE:
Communication was received from the Plato Educational Society requesting permission
to hold dance in the American Legion Hall July 9th and asking that a policeman be
assigned for that evening. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permission
be granted the Plato Educational Society to hold dance on July 9th and the matter of
Police protection be referred to the Chief of Police.
FINAL PAYMENT-
RECREATION BUILDINGS:
Communication was received from William Henry Rowe enclosing invoices and certificates
for final payment on Memorial Park and Elm Court Recreation Centers. Motion was duly
made, seconded and carried that the ~nal payments due Monson Bros. covering Elm Court
and Memorial Park Recreation Buildings be paid in the amounts of $3,806.5~ and
$2,759.18.
CHANGE ORDERS -
CENTRAL FIRE STATION:
Change Orders for the Central Fire Station were presented by Monson Bros. and the
Pacific Electrical & Mechanical Co. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that
these Change Orders be accepted.
SEWER DRAINAGE -
FIRE STATION:
Communication was received from Monson Bros. enclosing bill for $717.A3 covering repairs
to sewer at the central fire station. This matter was referred to the City Attorney.
PACIFIC TELE & TELE -
ALARM SIGNAL:
HEALTH WEEK:
Communication was received from the Pacific Telephone & TelegraPh Co. advising that
they were cancelling, with certain provisions, monthly charge for fire alarm signal~
system to the Burl Buri tract. Same was referred to the City Attorney.
Communication was received from the Swim for Health Association requesting that the
Mayor proclaim the period from June 2Otb to 25th as "Swim for Health ~ek". The
Mayor proclaimed the week of June 2Otb to 25th as "Swim for Health Week~.
CLArITen:
Claims in the amount of $22,309.18 were presented to the Finance Committee for approval.
On motion dulymade, seconded and carried claims as submitted were ordered paid.
RECREATION COMMISSION
..REPORT:
Report covering progress of the Recreation program was received from Joseph Pless of
the Recreation Commission. This report was ordered filed.
PERSONNEL BOARD
~OYEE' S REPORT:
The City Manager reported he had met with the Personnel Board on the subject of
performance reports of employees. The Board stated they would like to have the Council
set up records for all employees. The City Attorney was instructed to draw up a
resolution on this matter and the Clerk was instructed to advise the Personnel Board
of the action taken.
PERSONNEL BOARD -
EXANINATI ONS:
Communication was received from the City Attorney explaining the matter of jurisdiction
on examination of candidates for position of Superintendent of Parks and Playgrounds.
City Clerk was instructed to forward copy of this letter to the Personnel Board.
DRAINAGE DITCH -
BURI BURI:
The City Manager reported that Councilman Sani and himself had checked into the Buri
Buri drainage ditch problem and he advised that this matter would no doubt be cleared
up when the next unit of the Burl Buri Subdivision was improved.

The Mayor asked that all heads of the departments be present for checking of budgets
Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
BURI BUR1 SIGNAL:
The City Manager was asked to write Mr. Barrett of Buri Burl Homes with reference to
traffic signal at Arroyo Drive.
RESOLUTION NO. 1&59
RMuOVAL OF ~EEDS:
Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution providing for the removal of weeds from
city streets. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of
the City Council.
RESOLUTION NO. 1460
MUNICIPAL RAILWAY
EL CAMINO REAL:
Councilmah Sani introduced a resolution authorizing the acceptance of a revocable
permit granted by the Munidipal Railway of San Francisco for the purpose of extending
Chestnut Avenue. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of
the City Council.
CONDEMNATION SUIT -
BELAIR PROPERTY:
NEW TRUCKS:
The City Attorney reported he had dismissed the suit against the Pacific Bridge Co.
covering certain land in the Belair areA.
It was regdlarly moved, secoAded and carried that the Purchasing Agentbe given
authority to purchase two Int&rnational trucks.
ADJOU~MENT:
On motion Of Councilman h~der, ~econded by C6uncilman Boido and regularly carried the
meeting wa§ adjourned to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23rd.
