The meeting was called to order by Mayo~ Ferko at 8:00 p.m.
The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meetings held
September 19th, 20th and 22nd, to all members of the City Council, Mayor Ferko asked
if any errors or omissions were noted. There being none the minutes were approved
as su ~h$itted.
Communication was received from Parade Director, William A. Borba, advising that the
South San Francisco Business Men's Association wished the City Council to participate
in the Columbus Day celebration Sunday, October 16th. City Clerk was instructed to
advise Mr. Borba that the Council members would be present.
A communication was received from the Business Men's Association outlining the line of
~arch for. the parade to be held October 16th. Same was referred to the Police Dept.
Communication was received from ?~;orks Engineer submitting final map of resubdivision
of a portion of Sterling Terrace No. 2. Motion was made by Councilma~ Elder, seconded
by Councilm~n Sani that map of resubdivision Sterling Terrace No. 2 be accepted. This
motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Victor Boido, Chas. K.
Elder, Leo Ferko, Adolph S. ani. Noes, Council~, Emilio Cortesi.
Communicatiam~as received from the Works Engineer presenting for approval plans and
specifications Smr the improvement of the south sid, of Hillside Boulevard. This
matter was laid over.
Communication was received from Bay Cities House Moving requesting permission to use
the city streets for moving a new prebuilt home from the city limits of San Bruno to
Country Club Park. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that this matter be
referred to the City Manager to work out the necessary bond ~nd fee for police escort.
Communication was received from the P~anning Commission granting a use permit to E. B.
Motel to erect a sign behind Common's Garage. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried
that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted and that the E. B. Motel
be permitted to erect a 10' x &O' sign behind Cammon's Garage.
Communication was received from the Unio~ 6il Products requesting permission to install
a gasoline tank and pu~p at the Silver Terrace Nursery, 525 Chestnut Avenue. Motion
was duly made, seconded and carried that permission be granted to install this tank
and pump.
Communication was received from State of California, Training Center for Adult Blind,
requesting that the city issue free permits for their representatives to solicit for
the sale of blind-make products. This matter was referred to the City Manager.
Claims in the amount of $1~,&93.24 were presented to the Finance Committee for approval.
'on motion duly made, seconded and carried all claims as submitted were ordered paid.
An ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance came up for second reading. This ordinance was
read by title "An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 269 of the City of South San
Francisco, California, Being the Zoning Ordinance of said City" as the second reading.
The ordinance was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Victor Boido, Chas.
K. Elder, Leo Ferko, Adolph ~ani, Emilio Cortesi. Noes, Councilmen None.
City Clerk presented the result of the election for the annexation of Country Club Park.
The vote was as follows: Yes - 27; No - 30. Councilman Sani!mtroduce~a resolution
canvassing the returns of the special election for the annexation of Country Club Park.
This resolution was adopted by the uomnimous vote of all members of the City Council.
Councilman Elder introduced a resolution authorizing the application to the Public
Utility Commission for permission to widen and improve the Linden Avenue crossing over
the right-of,way of the Southern Pacific Railroad. This resolution~was adopted by the
unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. ~
The City Manager advised that a portion of Spruce Avenue between Canal Street and
Railroad Avenue would be filled in within the coming week.
The City Attorney advised that there were certain items to be ironed out with reference
to the "B" Street opening and that the City Manager and himself were working on this
matter.
Through Councilman Cortesi the Housing Authority asked that the street in Lindenville
be repaired~ As this is a private road the City Zttorney advised that it was not
within the Jurisdiction of the city to repair same.
Council,~n Cortesi suggested that an ordinance be prepared to cover load ltmtts in the
city. This matter was referred to the Road Commitbee of the Planning Commission to
suggest a truck route and limit of loads to travel over city streets.
Councilman Cortesi brought up the matter of a sign at the north end of the city limits.
This matter was left in his hands.
The City Attorney advised that he and other city officials had attended Citizen's Meetir~,
with reference to Southern Pacific Co. rate increase, held at the Sequoia High School
in Redwood City. He stated that various committees had been formed to protest the rate
increase; also that a rate engineer and attorney had been employed to gather data to
present at a fu~t~e hearing.

ABSENCE
Councilman Sani requested permission to leave the state for 10 days. Motion was duly
made, seconded and carried that Councilman Sani be given permission to leave the state
for 10 days°
On motion of Councilman Sani, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to Monday, October 10th at & p.~.'
