Present: Councilmen Victor Boido, Chas. K. Elder, Leo Ferko, Emilio
C ortesi.
Absent: Councilman Adolph Sani
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ferko at 8:00 p.m.
The City Clerk having forwarCed copy ol' the minutes of the meetings held October 3rd~
and 10th to all members of the City Council, Mayor Ferko asked if any errors or
omissions were noted. There being nbne the minutes were approved as submitted,
SAN BRUNO FIRE:
Communic&tion was received from the City of San Bruno expressing appreciation for the
cooperation of the Police and Fire Departments at the fire of the San Bruno Lumber Co.
September 22nd. This communication, was ordered filed.
ASSOCIATED IMPROVEMENT Communication was received from the Associated Improvement Clubs requesting permission
CLUBS - MEETING: to use the Council Chambers, Monday evening, October 2&th. Motion was duly made,
seconded and carried that permission be granted.
DISASTER COmmITTEE
MEETING:
Communication was received from the Disaster 8ommittee advising of meeting to be held
November 17th in Burlingame and asked that representatives of the city be present. The
Mayor stated the Chief of Police, Fire Chief and Mayor would be present at this meeting.
THOS. SMITH-
CALL FORCES:
Communication was received from Chief of the Fire Department aubmitting the name of
Thomas Smith for appointment to the Call Forces of the Fire Department. Motion was
duly made, seconded and carried that the appointment of Thos. Smith be confirmed.
ARTHUR RODONDI -
RETU?3; TO WORK:
Communication was received from Chief of Police Belloni advising that Officer Arthur
Rodondi had returned to work October 10th after his illness. This communication was
ordered filed.
PLANNING COMMISSION -
SLEETING:
Communication was received from the Plannin§ Commission requesting dinner meeting with
the City Council on October 25th. As this date conflicted with the League of California
Cities convention the matter was laid over.
PLANNING COMMISSION -
HILLSIDE BObU4EVARD:
Communication was received from the Planning Commission recommending a 6" crusher run
ba§e and a 2" asphaltic concrete wearing surface on Hillside Boulevard between Sterling
Terrace Homes and Linden Avenue. Motion was dulymade, seconded and carried that the
recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted with the change to a 2½" wearing
surface instead of.2".
PLANNING COMMISSION
ROAD SURVEY:
Communication was received from the Elanning Commission recommending changes in the bus
stops. This matter was tabled for the present.
FLANNING C~A~ISSION
AIELL0 REZONING:
Resolution was received from the Planning Commission recommending that the petition of
LoUis Aiello to rezone lots 13 'and l& Grand Avenue Extension No. 2 be granted, Motion
was duly made, seconded ~nd carried that the recommendation of the Planning Commission
be accepted and that the City Attorney draw up the necessary amendment to the Zoning
Ordinance.
IRON& STEEL CONTRACT-
ING CO. - BUILDING:
Communication was received from the Planning Commission recommending the approval for the
construction of a building b~ the Iron & Steel Contracting Co. on South Linden Avenue
providing it met with the approval of the Building I~spector. Motion was duly made,
seconded and carried that permission be granted to the Iron & Steel Contracting Co. for
the erection of a building on South Linden Avdnue providing same met.all building
regulations.
BUSINFSS LICENSE -'
A. MAININI:
The R. & T. Poultry Shop submitted an application for a business license to conduct the
business of poultry and fresh eggs at 216 Grand Avenue. Motion was duly made, seconded
and carried that permission be granted subject to the approval of the Health Inspector.
MARTIN SCHOOL CROSSING: Communications were received fro~ Perseo DaPrato and Martin PTA asking that police
protection be provided at the Armour and Linde~ Avenue crossing so that children on their
way to and from school would be safeguarded. The Mayor stated he felt that it was the
responsibility of the c~ty to provide necessar~v protection for children at the crossing,
but from the crossing to the shool should be the responsibility of the School Department.
The Mayor stated that the City Manager in conjunction with the Police Department would
take care of this matter immediately.
MONTHLY REPORTS: Beports for the month of September were submitted by the Chief of Police, City Judge,
Health Department, Humane Officer, Building Inspector, Fire Chief and Free P~lic
Library. On motion duly made, seconded and carried same were approved as submitted.
CLAIMS:
Claims in the amount of $18,882.07 were submitted to the Finance Committee for approval.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried all claims as submitted were ordered paid.

Sk~RVICE - STORAGE
TANK:
Communication was received from the San Mateo County Planning ~ommission advising that
public hearing would be held October 21st at Redwood City covering the application of
th~Galifornia Water Service Co. for a Use Permit to allow the erection of a 500,000
gallons steel water storage tank on the Ray S. E. Buttons property. This communication
was ordered filed.
MRS. JOMN COLOMBO -
INJURY:
Communication was received from John Colombo advising that his wife had fallen and hurt
her right hand on the sidewalk at the City Hall Park. Communication was ordered filed.

A. Guglielmetti submitted an application to engage in the business of a self-service
launderette under the name of SouthwoodLaunderette at 131 Southwood. Motion was duly
made, seconded and carried that permission be granted.

HILLSIDE BOULEVARD Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the plans and specifications for the
PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS: improvement of Hillside Boulevard be accepted with the stipulation that a 6" crusher
~n base. and a 2~" asphaltic concrete wearing s~rfAce be included.
BLIND-MAKE PRODUCTS:
The request of the Department of Education Training Center for A~ult Blind for free
permits for the sale of blind-make products was taken up.. As our Business License
Ordinance did not pro. vide for the issuing of free permits the City Clerk was instructed
to so advise the Department of Education.
PLANNING C OMML~SI ON
ANNUAL REPORT:
Plan~ing Commission submitted the Annual Report for the fiscal year 19A8-A9 and same was
read. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the Planning Commission report be
accepted and filed and that the Planning Commission be commended for their good work.
ADJOURNMENT:
On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to October 26th, 19&9 at 11:00 a. m.
