errors or omissions were noted. There being none the minutes were approved as
submitted.
CHAMBF~ OF CO~E -
SPACE:
Uommunication was received from the South San Francisco Ohamber oI' Oommerce requesting
o~'x'ice space in the Oity Hall. This matter was referred to the City Manager.
RECREATION DEPT. -
SCHOOL DISTRICT:
POLICE EXAMINATIONS:
Communication was received from the Recreation Department enclosing copy of letter from
the South San Francisco Unified School District with reference to agreements between
the City Council, School Board and Recreation Department concerning playground equipment
This matter was referred to the City Manager.
Communication was received from Chief of Police Belloni asking that the Personnel Board
be requested to call for examination for Police Officers. Motion was duly made,
seconded and carried that the recommendation of the Chief of Police be accepted and the
Personnel Board be requested to call for Police ~fficer e~nination.
A. W. TRIPLETT-
STREET DEPT.
Communication was received from Superintendent of Streets Schweining recommending the
permanent appointment of Arthur W. Triplett to the Street Deoartment as a Utility Man.
Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that Arthur W. Triplett be appminted to the
Street Department on a permanent basis.
MARILYN TACCHI -
JUDGE' S OFFICE:
Communication was received from City Manager Larwood advising that Miss Marilyn Tacchi
had been appointed as a temporary typist-clerk in the City Judges' Office at $175.00
per month. Motion was duly made, seconded snd carried that this appointment be confirme.

BR~NT~OOD CO. -
BUILDING PERMIT:
Application was received from Petrocchi Bros. for a license to sell christmas trees on
E1 Camino Real in the Southwood District. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried
that permit be g~anted.
Communication was received from the Brentwood Co. requesting permission to erect a
building on Block 18 Brentwood Subdivision. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried
that permit be granted providing bUilding meets all building regulations.
A. A. SILVA-
HUMANE OFFIC~I~:
City Manager Larwood recommended that Albert A. Silva be appointed Humane Officer as of
November 1st to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Steve Bildhauer. Motion
was duly made, seconded and carried that the recommendation of the City Manager be
confirmed.

PLANNING CCI/MIS~ION -
VARIANCE PERMITS:
Communication was received from Bernard McCaffery Post No. 355, American Legion stating
they found no necessity for having a veterans coordinating advisory council in this city
Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that if any coordinating advisory council
had been, heretofore, set up that same be revoked.
The granting of variance permits to:the following parties was recommended by the Plannint
Commission:
Joseph Vallerga
John Pieri
Fedrigo and Rose Garibalci
Atlas ~ealty Co.
Motion was duly maae secondeC and carries that the recommenaations of the Planning
Commission be accepted.
USE PERMIT -
C. MANTEGANI:
CLAIMS:
The Planning Commission recommended the granting o~' a use permit to C. Mantegani for the
construction o~ two greenhouses. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the
recommendation o~ the Planning Commission be accepted.
Claims in the amount or $19,975.92 were presented to the Finance Committee for approval.
On motion duly made, seconded ant carried claims as submitted were ordered paid.

AMAS TREES:
Application to sell christmas trees at 1125 E1 Camino Real was receivec from.~. A. Paint,
Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permit be granted on payment o~ the
necessary license fee.
MICHEL & PFEFFER
IRON ~RKS- BLDG.:
Communication was received from Michel a Pfef~er iron Works, Inc. requesting permission
to erect a building on the east side of San Mateo Avenue. Motion was duly made, seconde~
and carried that permit be granted.
MONTHLY REPC~TS:
Reports were submitted by the City Judge and South San FrancisCo Free Public Library.
As the City Council was of the opinion t~e City Judge's report was not in detail form
the City Manager was instructed to ask 'the City qudge for more complete report. The
reports as submitted for the month of October were accepted an~ filed.
STERLI~T/2~ACE-
Oommunication was received from Sterling Terrace Corp. advising they had met with the
residents of Sterling Terrace regarcing soil erosion and that they haa advised t~e resid,
that effective methods would be adopted to prevent any erosion. The City Manager sugges~
that Sterling Terrace Corp. take the necessary steps beforehand to prevent any damage.
He wa~ t~erefore, instructed to contact the Sterling Terrace Corp. on this matter.
H IGH~¥AY DIVISION
LETTERS:
Three letters from the State Highway Division addressed to City Manager Larwood were
read. These letters concerned the installation oI' signals at Arroyo Drive and al
Oamino ~eal, proposed highway location on road AV-~M-68-E, and lighting fixtures on
Old Bayshore Highway. Councilman Cortesi brought up tne"matter of sign at t~e entrance
to Soutn San Francisco. Gity Manager s~ateC ne ~o~ld follow this up with the ~tate
Highway Division.
L. C. SMITH-
CHESTNUT A~E.:
Oommunication was received l°rom Works Engineer Randlett snowing the amo~mt o~" ~orK
complete~ on Chestnut Avenue extension and recommenced that L. C. Smith Co. be paid
$9,562.03 covering 905 of the wor~ completed. Motion was duly mace, secon~eC anC
ca~'ried t~at progress payment in the amount of $9,5~2.O3 be made to L. C. Smith Co.
covering work completed on Chestnut Avenue extension.'
PARKING LOT PURCHASE:
The p~rchase of lots 12 and 13 Block 126 for a parking lo~ was brought up. After some
discussion motion was duly made, 'seconded and carried that the City Attorney be
instructed to draw up a resolution for the purchase of lots 12 and 13 Block 126 for the
sum of $11,000.00; these lots to be used for parking space.
TREE REMOVAL:
Councilman Cortesi brought up the matter of whether trees should be removed or otherwise.
This matter was discussed quite at length as was also the trimming of trees.
RESOLUTION NO. 1&98 -
GRADE CROSSING:
Councilman Sani introduced a resolution reCommending that a study of grade separation
legislation be instituted by the safety committee ~£ the Chamber of Commerce of the
San Francisco Peninsula and also by various Chambers of Commerce of the San Francisco
Peninsula. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the
City Council.
COLEB~D - LAW
OEFIC~RS CONVENTION:
City Attorney Coleberd requested permission to attend the Municipal Law Officers'
Conventiom at Kansas City. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permission
be granted City Attorney~Coleberd to be absent from the state December 5th to 13th
to attend the Municipal Law Officers' Convention.
· "B" STREET:
The City Attorney reported a title report had been secured and deeds had been prepared
and would be signed at an early date covering the "B"'Street property. City Manager
stated he ~nd Councilman Cortesi had contacted Mr. Mulkey who agreed to deed 30' of
property to the City.

On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Counc~lm-~ Sani and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to Monday, December 5th, 19&9 at 8:00 p.m.
