Present: Councilmen Victor Boido~ ~has. K. Elder, Leo Ferko, Adolph Sani, ~ilio
Cortesi.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ferko at 8:10 p.m.
The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all
members of the City Council, Mayor Ferko ssked if any errors or omissions were noted.
There being none the minutes were approved as submitted.
Communication was received from the South San Francisco Unified School District requestir
that no new subdivision be approved unless adequate school site is provided free of
cost to the city and school district. This communication Sas ordered filed.
Communication was received from the South San Francisco Unified School District requesti~
the help of the City Council in providing sewer facilities for the Southwood-Brentwoo~
School located in Country Club Park. This communication was referred to the City Managex
and Works Engineer for study.
Communication was received from the Tax Collector attaching letter from the School Distr]
requesting cancellation of taxes on Parcel 33 Zone E for the 19~9-50 fiscal year. Mottor
was duly made, seconded and carried that taxes on 1.08 acres Parcel 33 Zone E in the
amount of $11.AO be can=oiled.
Communication was received from the Standard Oil Company requesting permission to instal]
gasoline storage tank at the airport. As the Fire Chief approved this installation
motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permission be granted.
Communication was received from Lester ~. Anderson requesting permission to establish a
Merchant Patrol in the city. This matter was referred to a committee consisting of
Councilmen Sani, Cortesi and Elder and Chief of Police Belloni.
Communication was received from Chief of Police Belloni advising that Officer Vincent
E. Bianchini had been off work since November 16th due to illness. This communication
was ordered filed.
Communication was received from Fire Chief Welte submitting the names of Arthur Massaglia
and Gilbert Lazzari, Jr. for appointment to the Call Forces of the Fire Department.
Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the names as submitted by the Fire Chief
for appointment to the Call Forces be confirmed.
Petition signed by 11 property owners was presented to the Council requesting that
Walnut Avenue between Parkway and Maple Avenue be repaired. This matter was referred to
the Commissioner of Streets, Superintendent of Streets and City Manager for investigatto~
and re~ort.
Communication was received from Mrs. Bessie Carlyle requesting permission for the Girl
Scouts to sing Christmas Carols on t~e City Hall s~ep.s December 19th or 20th. Motion
was duly made, seconded and carried that permission be given the Girl Scouts to sing
o~ the City Hall steps.
Communication was received from Superintendent of Streets Schweining advising that Merle
Reidell had served his probationary period as Utility Man in the Street Department and
recommending that he be Permanently appointed. Motion was duly made, seconded and
carried that the recommendation of the Superintendent of Streets be accepted.
Communication was received from the Personnel Board with reference to examinations for
typist-clerk and stenographer-clerk and suggested that some adjustments be made in
~alary schedule. This matter was referred to the City Man'ger.
Claims in the amount 0fi'$15,66~.22 were presented to the Finance Committee for approval.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried same were ordered paid.
Reports for the month of November were submitted by the Fire Chief, TaxCollector,
Building Inspector and Humane Officer. On motion duly made, seconded and carried same
were approved as submitt ed.
Councilman Sani introduced a resolution accepting the deed of the United States of Americ
to the City of South San Francisco covering the Belair property. This resolution was
adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council.
Councilman Elder introduced a resolution amending the Personnel Rules and Regulations to
require departm6nt heads to submit progress reports on probationary employees. This
resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Co=ecil.
Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution ~roviding that Senator Parkman and Assemblymaf
Dolwig be requested to make necessary effort to obtain state funds for the extension and
correction of certain conditions on the Bayshore Freeway. This resolution was adopted b~
the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council.
Councilman Boido introduced a ~esolution authorizing the purchase of lots No. 12 and 13
'in Block No. 126 for the sum of $11,000. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous
vote of all members of the City Council.
Mr, H,'McBirdaddressed the council requesting permission to keep a house trailer on his
property for approximately ten days until he could dispbse of same. He was advised to
contact the Chief of Police.

POLICE BUILDING - Councilman Sani stated Open House would be held Saturday, December 10th, from 2:00 to
DEDICATION: 5:00 p.m. at the new Police Building and suggested that the press give same publicity.
ADJOURNMENT:
On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by 8ouncilman Sani and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to December 19th at 8:00 p.m.
