Council Chambers, City Hall. 8 o'clock p.m. Present: Councilmen Victor Boido, Chas. K. Elder, Adolnh Sani. Absent: Councilmen Leo Ferko and Emilio ~ortesi. Councilman Elder moved, seconded by ~ouncilman Boido that Co,mciLman Sani set as ~ayor due to the absence of Eayor Ferko. This motion was regularly carried. Acting~ayor Sani called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all members of the City Council, Acting Nayor Sani asked if .any errors or omissions were noted. There being none the minutes were approved as submitted. Communication was received from the South San Francisco Unified School District advising of motion passed at their meeting of November 15th with reference to right-of-way at the ~ew High School site, E1 C8m~no Eeal. This communication was filed. Communication was received from !¥illism ~cIntosh & Son requesting an extension of time on their contract for alterations at the City Nall. Motion was Ouly made, seconded and carried that an extension of thirty days be granted '~illiam McIntosh & Son. Communication was received from Thomas Needham wi%~ reference to Brentwood Olub placing a building on City land in the Brentwood tract to be used as a recreation building. This matter was referred to the Recreation Commission, City Manager and City Attorney. Communication was received from the Union Oil Co. requesting permission to install a~ gasoline storage tank on premises occupied by Ralph Larson & Sons. As the Fir~ Chief approved of this installation, motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permission be granted. Communication was received from Fire Chief ~ette advising that Fireman D. Davis had completed his second year as Fireman and was entitled to a salary of $290.00 per month; also that Firemen T. Galli and E. Garrett had completed their first year as firemen and were entitled to a salary of $275.00 per month. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that salaries as submitted 0y the Fire Chief be approved. Communication was receivgd from Fire Chief '~elte advising that G. Gunderson had resigned from the Call Forces of the Fire Department as of December 1st, 19A9. This communication was filed. 43¸ SANTO CHRISTO SOCIETY Communication was received from the Santo Christo Society requesting permission to BUILDING: move a house from the Fuller property to Oak Avenue. Motion was duly made, seconded ana carried that permission be granted providing the building meets with the Building Inspector' s approval. DRE~ITZ LICENSE: PLANNING COmmISSION, VARIANCE & ADJUST$~ENTS- USE PERMITS: Wilbur Drewitz submitted an application for a fruit and ~egetable paddler's ldcense. Motion was duly made~ seconded and carried that this license be granted on payment of the regular fee. 'The Planning Commission recommended the granting of the following Variances and Adjust- ments and Use Permits: George Robinson - garage 3' from house, 624 Mayfair Ave. Joe H. Hardison - 3' side yard, Lot 6 Block 10, "A" St. Antoni Martin - garage 3' from alley, 53& Commercial Ave. Leroy S. Goode - 6' fence, 227 Arroyo Drive Stephen J. Ebert - 6' fence, 223 Arroyo ~rive John L. Eoss -.6' fence, 219 Arroyo Drive Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the.recommendations of the Planning Commission be accepted and permits be issued. MONTHLY REPORTS: Reports for the month of November were submitted by the Police Department, City Judge, Public Library and Health Dept. On motion duly made, seconded and carried same were approved as submitted. CLAIMS: Claims in the amount of $24,725.&6 were presented to the Finance Committee. On motion duly made, seconded and carried claims as submitted were ordered paid. P. T. &T. CO. - BUILDING: SIDE~ALK- HILLSIDE BOULEVARD: Communication was received from the Pacific Telephone &Telegraph Co. requesting permission~to erect abuilding on 4th Lane betweea Linden and Cypress Avenues. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permdsSion be granted. Communication was received from the Paradise Valley Improvement ~lub stating the residents of Paradise Valley and Sterling Terrace were interested in the conditions of the sidewalk on Hillside Boulevard. The City ~anager reported that the ~¥orks Engineer and the City Attorney were working on proceedings for this improvement. The City Manager was instructed to advise the Paradise Valley Improvement Club on this matter. CITY ~mLOYEES - XMAS PAY: Acting Mayor Sani suggested that the monthly City employees be paid prior to Christmas as was the usual custom. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the monthly City employees be paid before Christmas. S. P. CO. - RATE INCREASES: Communication was received from the Peninsula Protective Association advising that an attorney and traffic expert had been hired to present protest before the Public Utilities Commission en the Southern Pacific Co. rate increase and asked that $200.00 be appropriated by the City to defray expenses for these men. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that $200.00 be appropriated to be paid to Marvin Handler, Attorney, and Fred Chestnut, Traffic Expert. RESOL~r~ION NO. 1503 - ACCEPTING POLICE i' BUILDING: ADJOURN~r: Councilma~ Boido introduced a resolution declaring the Police Department building completed according to plans and specifications. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council present. On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried the meeting was adjourned to January 3, 1950 at 8:00 p.m. Time of adjournment - 8:~0 p.m. Respectfully submitted, APPROVED: City Clerk
